BackDoor Bistro and Wine Bar focuses on sustainable, ethically sourced cuisine. Local farms produce as much as possible of the produce and ingredients for BackDoor Bistro. Its menu changes seasonally for varied options that change with the seasons and the bounty of surrounding farms. This restaurant also offers local beer, wine and artisanal cocktails for delightful pairings.

Guests can start their meals with bites and appetizers like the Polenta Fries with Cilantro Lime Crema, the Crispy Thai Brussels Sprouts. or the Seasonal Seared Spanish Octopus. They can then move onto the crowd-pleasing Stempler Creek Beef Burger, the Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse, or the hearty Southern Style Fried Chicken which is served Tuesday-Thursday nights.

The gorgeous patio is surrounded by plant life and set aside a bustling courtyard. The dining room is charming yet elegant. BackDoor Bistro has been voted best spot for a date night for many years for a reason!

Dinner was way over-cooked (fried chicken). Forgot my side, and when they brought it, it was cooked incorrectly. They brought the correct one out when we were finished. Service was spotty at best, and the wine pours were very light. I love supporting local businesses, but this is twice now that we have had a bad experience at this establishment, and we are done. Just a suggestion, maybe the manager should make the rounds and check on the customers? I think it could help with some issues.

This has been a constant experience in eating out, with Backdoor now following suite. One of our favorite local places, always enjoyed our visits. This time, the food was good, but NOT great. Oysters were amazing; brussel sprouts on point which we always order; but if I am going to pay $45 for a flank steak it needs to be great, not good. IT was good, somewhat salty, with some funky melted cheese underlying and fries were good, but at those prices it needs to be OFF the charts great. WAY too many restaurants are charging rising prices and offering up good but not worth said price escalation. Our waiter was great.

A great bottle of Gilpin Reserve Merlot, the Salmon Tartare was great as was the Caesar Salad followed by a dozen grilled oysters and Scallop Agnolotti. The Old Fashion was made with quality Rye, the server was patient and very helpful. And it was nice sitting outside for dinner. To us, this is the best restaurant in Vacaville. It is our go to place.

Another great dining experience at backdoor bistro. Sam was an excellent server as always! We also enjoyed the new items on their menu!

Everything was outstanding from the waitstaff to the food. We went on Thursday and it was Happy Hour all day. great deals and food is superb!

Excellent cuisine with an emphasis on quality instead of quantity of food - the salmon cakes were outstanding as well as the peach/prosciutto salad were outstanding.

My favorite restaurant in Vacaville. I love the farm to table cuisine. The servers and staff are so welcoming and provide excellent service. My favorite meal is the Chilean Sea Bass with lemon risotto, and for dessert the lemon cheesecake was delicious.

We’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and we were not disappointed. The food was great. We had the polenta fries, shrimp and grits, burger, and lemon cheesecake. I thought the idea of a burger was a little boring but it was recommended by a friend so my wife tried it. It was great, as were the polenta fries recommended by the same friend. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and just a little spicy which was great. The grits were very rich and creamy. We look forward to returning.

Took a girlfriend out for her birthday- cute spot but has a fairly limited menu. Lunch at 12:45 and tried to order the bruschetta. I was told they did not have it as they were making the bread. Hmmmmm, brunch on weekend, limited menu and no one came to work early enough to make bread??? Disappointing!! Sooo, ordered bri cheese plate. Very small ramekin with “4” slices of baguette toast. “4” cost around $ 15.00. Not sure if I will return… service was great though!!
