Enjoyed Barrows House as I have for many years. However, the 2 piece band was TOO LOUD! It was annoying & made it difficult to have a conversation at the dinner table. They should lower the volume! It sounded like I was at a concert. They even encouraged diners to sign along with them. Whatever happened to dinner music? Perhaps Steve & Lauren should have dinner outside when that band plays again!! I will not be back at Barrows as long as that band music continues to be so loud.

Beautiful location just outside the village of Dorset. We had a patio table on a perfect late summer evening. The food was 5 star. The steak tartar was one of the best I have had. Served with a bone marrow side. The scallops and risotto were perfection. The duck breast was also excellent. The profiterole for dessert was okay. The pastry was fine but the cream filling was too much for me. I would have preferred the Wilson Dairy ice cream my wife enjoyed. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Service was the only disappointment. Did not match the food or atmosphere. We were celebrating our 50 th wedding anniversary which I noted on the reservation. Not one of the personnel mentioned this. I didn’t expect a brass band but an acknowledgement would have been nice. The service was slow and erratic. The entire staff appeared overwhelmed. I admit it was a busy evening but that isn’t an excuse. Our server admitting forgetting our wine order when I was finally able to flag her down as we were finishing our entrees. Otherwise a great evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first time here. Everybody’s food was outstanding. The service was outstanding and the outdoor seating was perfect for the weather.!

It was our anniversary and once again barrow’s house came through with a spectacular meal! The cocktails were delicious and I loved the my appetizers and entree. My husband had a wonderful steak and the Brussel sprouts.In spite of a sudden rain shower our server on the outdoor patio did a marvelous job!

We come here regularly (although never again). My wife and I sat down at 6.30. At 7.20, when the table next to us, who had come later got their appetizer, I asked our waitress where ours was. She said (in the 1/2 empty dining room), that it everycome came at the same time. 15 minutes later the manager comes over and says that everything (appetizer and main courses) was ready to come out. I said that the appetizer should be first, and she said she could put the mains under a heat lamp (think what that would do to the halibut!) We were so hungry after now an 1 and 15 minutes that I was so upset that I would go home and have eggs. So we left. I am a retired banker and have had good and bad servive and good and bad food. This was the first time I can recall that it was just so terrible that we left before even getting our food. Usually this place is decent, which is why we have come regularly in the past - but this was absolutely appalling.
