From the stunning stone Cellar Door, to the rustic yet elegant Book Barn housing our restaurant and bookshop, we invite you to experience the beauty and first-class hospitality of Bendooley Estate.
Lovely atmosphere. Fantastic to be surrounded by books. Excellent food and service.
The lunch was enjoyable and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was not highly rated as my friend’s meal/meat was not medium to well done and my lamb burger was cold when it was served.
What a perfect spot for friends to meet for lunch, coming from Canberra and Sydney. The restaurant is cheerfully snd competently staffed, and the food is excellent!
We especially appreciated being able to chat easily, with no hint of feeling rushed or wearing out our welcome.
We were seated in Cellar and looked after exceptionally well. Delicious food, wonderful staff and lovely and warm. Thank you once again Bendooley for a beautiful lunch
Great afternoon wine tasting and and excellent lunch, place was busy as but staff where excellent with fantastic service. Can recommend and will have lunch again soon.
Wonderful food, and the in-restaurant bookshop was lovely to browse afterwards. More than what I would normally spend on lunch for two, but I knew it would be, and you certainly get what you pay for there - outstanding.
Great atmosphere amongst the books, though next time would book earlier to have views by the window to the lovely Estate.
Perfect getaway for a couple wanting to escape the rat race of Sydney!
Not in the winter, as it is too, too cold. Alright it is a 'barn', but perhaps even floor covering would help. Also, keep the pizzas, but time to change the rest of the menu.
Fireside table for 2 on a cold winter's day for lunch was a perfect start.
Service was friendly, prompt, efficient & informed.
Wood fired flat bread with rosemary salt was authentic & when topped with a side of whipped avocado, wasabi, black rice, coconut, herbs & lemon dressing became a creative masterpiece of flavour.
Black Angus eye fillet was outstanding & complimented with a glass of Bendooley Estate Cabernet Shiraz, it was a match made in heaven. We finished with Tunisian citrus samosas with orange caramel & vanilla ice cream, a deep fried pastry with explosion of flavour & beautiful espresso coffees.
Unfortunately the maitre d' was the only downfall as he was dismissive & unprofessional but with the wait staff, kitchen skills & ambience of the space his lack of hospitality became easy to overlook as we focussed on all the positive.
Lovely lunch, only minus was the flies.
They seemed to congregate around the windows inside and were very annoying.
Beautiful setting, interesting books to browse/buy before and after the meal, friendly service
Friendly and attentive staff. Food and wine were delicious
Beautiful setting, great quality food. Service was great as we entered but as soon as we tried to order a bottle of wine from a waitress serving us she told us she didn’t take orders or something and walked off. We then had to flag someone else down to assist. We had no one check in while we were eating and it took a while to order dessert.
The restaurant was very busy but they did let us know service may be a little slow; we didn't have to wait long and our linguine was delicious accompanied by a Bendooley Rose. Service staff were busy but friendly and we had a lovely lunch
We booked this with another couple for my partner's birthday. Service initially was good but after starters we were waiting for our nation's for a while but the waitress asked if we wanted desert menus we had to point out we were still waiting for our mains (it was the same waitress that took our order). After waiting more and watching tables come in and order after us get their food we queried where the food was and was met with a rude response that they were busy that day and the food would be out shorty. When then realised that our mains for missed. After finally receiving our mains we finished and waited patiently for the table to be cleared and desert menus to be offered. We sat for 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us. I had to ask for the plates to be cleared and desert menus. The waitress came over handes the desert menus but didn't bother to clear the plates. After this the lunch was ruined so I then asked for the bill which again didn't come. So we ended up going to the counter and paying ourselves. I'm sorry but I will never recommend going here to anyone again.
Food was amazing - beautiful setting. Will be sure to visit again
Excellent food, service, decor and amazing outlook. Strongly recommend to anyone looking for a great experience
I think we just timed our lunch wrong. We had a 1.45pm booking, we sat in the bar area, which was quiet and lacking in atmosphere that day. It seemed that the wait staff forgot about that side of the restaurant. We had to ask to order and they never checked back in to see if we wanted another drink or dessert/ coffee. My fish was undercooked and I had to send it back. It did return very nicely cooked and tasted ok, not fabulous. I'd finished my wine by the time my food came, and I gave up trying to find someone to reorder. My husband had a pizza, very think crispy base and ok. I think we just arrived at the wrong time on a Friday, given the amazing reviews this place generally gets. So will give it another go. I'd prefer to sit in the book barn though and not the bar area.
Food was lovely. Just wish I had requested a table away from the door. It was very cold.
Parking is good, setting is excellent, food and service are good
Absolutely my favourite getaway to eat spot! We’ve been coming here twice a year for three years now to catch up with good friends and Bendooley never fails to impress. The staff are friendly and attentive even when they’re really busy and make you feel like family. The food is absolutely divine and the champagne, oh the champagne! Do book though if you’re thinking of going Fri-Sun.
Great food selection. Good service. Lovely dining experience
Service is the main area of concern.
Had to follow up on drinks order, this should not happen given the total bill.
We sat in the area at the front door...the rear area, where we sat the first time was cosier, warmer etc
We had a family lunch for an 83rd birthday and the food was exceptional even enjoyed by normally fussy teenagers. Every dish had its own unique flavour and was beautifully presented. Favourites would be the crab linguini and the duck comfit. Great atmosphere excellent service and late arrival accomodated
Beautiful venue, exceptional food, great service and book browsing.
Absolutely beautiful food , great service, just a lovely place
The service was extremely good, and the staff should be commended. They really go out of the way to ensure you have an exceptionally good time, even when they are busy and have competing priorities. The wine is also superior to other wines I have tried in the region. The ambiance of the place is really nice, and you could spend a long time here, just drinking wine by the fire and looking at some beautiful old books.
We enjoyed it very much, and so did our family. We have been before and always are not disappointed. Will be back again soon. Regards Tony Eyles.
I come often and am never disappointed. The combination of good food, good books and a fire are the best!
Hi. We had very slow service at our lunch on the weekend. My husbands main what no chilli in the linguine and he asked for some to be brought over. It came at the end of the meal.
It was meant to be crab linguine and it was in fact prawn. We were not advised of the change until halfway through our meals.
We have previously had great meals at bendooley but also had to chase up the kids meals and coffees. Very average service and wouldn’t not rush back.
Service of staff could greatly be improved - having to ask twice/ three times for the same thing is not cool.
I would recommend for larger groups. Far too noisey for small groups and the service was poor. Experience was underwhelming at best.
We asked if we could move tables as we were right next to the door the staff used to go outside continuously and it was freezing every time it opened. We saw there was a table available and was blatantly told there were no tables available. It just really soured our experience.
Food was ok, wine was great, service was nice. Ambiance not as expected, it’s too busy and the room was very cold (Book Barn), they had the fire place going and that is gorgeous but they sat us at the back of the room and with people coming in and out of the doors it was freezing so we didn’t enjoy it. Personally I would not go back again and was disappointed. I had higher expectations of this place and we booked for a birthday and had booked about a month in advance. Much nicer places around Bowral with more atmosphere and warmth. Shame as the grounds and place itself is gorgeous.
I took my two daughters to Bendooley for lunch. We also had a 10 month old baby. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious and the recommended wine from the Bendooley Estate was exceptional.
We have no hesitation in recommending a visit to Bendooley Estate.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Loved the Gluten Free options.
Service was good but staff could be a bit friendlier.
Food was sensational but I was disappointed to arrive and find out that we were being sat in the bar and not the restaurant, which appeared to be a last minute change due to another function.
Amazing food. Ok service.
Our whole dining experience exceeded our expectations. Service was outstanding from beginning to end, meal sizes were perfect for lunch, menu options were outstanding and sitting in front of the fireplace on a chilly Winter's day was glorious. We will definately return and will highly recommend to others. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.
