    If you’ve received an email from Benihana corporate, which includes other restaurant chains like Kona Grill, STK, Samurai, RA Sushi etc. - this location will NOT honor any discount coupons for birthdays, anniversaries etc. that you received from FwB which administers these. We walk in with a $50 birthday gift card and was told that that will not be honored. FYI.

    Our experience is very disappointing. We came in to celebrate two birthdays after getting two different birthday promotional coupons emailed to us. One was for $50 which we were told was not good at that location and the second one was for $30 which we were told it had to be printed in order for them to honor it. This was even though it was sent to us electronically and in today's day and age nobody wants you to print anything. Our waitress who was clearly not Japanese was very difficult to understand. She told us to walk down to Walgreens, which was several blocks away in downtown Milwaukee and try to get it printed. That seemed to ridiculous since it was raining and dark. Anyways, needless to say we did not do that. Our hibachi cook was underwhelming at best. The food was just OK. The restaurant was relatively empty so I'm not sure if the birthday gimmick is just to get people in? the food seems very overpriced especially in comparison to other hibachi restaurants who include fried rice and don't charge an additional seven dollars for it. I would not recommend this restaurant or ever go back. Many better options in downtown Milwaukee that treat you with more respect.

    They suddenly stated that no sushi was available for the entire day- was not told to us when the reservation was made. The place looks rundown and needs a makeover. Food was just OK for the most part up until my main dish which was unpalatable. Huge price for subpar experience

    Completely unimpressed with my latest Benihana experience - which may unfortunately be my last. For a Thursday evening, dining room lacked the usual liveliness and vibe. Team seemed under staffed. The sad story starts with the chef who lacked the requisite enthusiasm and showmanship. He never bothered to demonstrate the expected knife skills and flare when cooking the shrimp (catching one in a pocket, etc…) which were cooked LAST. That’s right, not as part of the appetizer stage, but literally last, even after the steaks. Imagine shrimp cooked on a blackened cooktop. The worst part: the most expensive item, the lobster tail was left to overcook and shrink beyond recognition. In the end, the chef left the table without properly cleaning off the cooktop. Yikes. It pains me to write such a negative review but the info must be shared.
