Even though a place as venerable as Bewley's could rest on its laurels and coast on its reputation, I found the service impeccable, the food very good and reasonably priced, considering it's location in the heart of Dublin. My wife and I arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation, but we're seated in a lovely spot by the fireplace within 5 minutes. The staff made us feel welcome and appreciated and the main dining room is a classic in teashop design. Overall, a great experience and a must-do when you visit Dublin.

We booked at table in advance via OpenTable for 2 people for 12pm on a Thursday. We arrived in at 11.55, told the hostess of our booking, and were instructed to wait in the lobby with everyone else who was arriving in without bookings to request a table. By 12.10pm, everyone who had arrived in without a booking after us had been seated, and we were the only ones waiting. We went back to the hostess and told her that we were concerned that we were going to be late for the show in the upstairs Café Theatre at 1pm, and reminded her that we had booked in advance. She checked her bookings, found ours, apologised, and sat us at the mezzanine; we noted that we really needed to order quickly as we had an increasingly short window and she said that there were plenty of staff so that shouldn't be a problem. We then spend the next 10 minutes trying to flag down a waitstaff to place an order. When we placed our order, we explained the time pressure to our (lovely) waitperson, and asked if we could receive the bill with the food in order to save time. She assured us the food would be quick, and our dhal and quiche did indeed arrive within 10 minutes. They were very tasty, if small portions for the high prices. They forgot to bring the bill, so we had to flag a waitstaff down once again. We made it up to the 1pm show just in time, but were frustrated by the successive delays and that our booking had been ignored. Whilst Bewleys is unquestionably beautiful and a piece of Dublin history, it is consistently slow and chaotic in service, and the food prices are expensive for what you get and the portion sizes (this has been jokingly referred to as Bewleys "tourist tax" in order to accommodate the hefty Grafton Street rent).

We throughly enjoyed our afternoon tea in Bewleys. It was a luxurious experience and we were treated to wonderful service. Nothing we asked was too much! The food was beautiful and we had the best time.

We had breakfast today at Bewley’s and it was delightful! Our food (scone, granola, French toast) and pots of tea were absolutely delicious & perfectly cooked. Our tea was piping hot and very good. Special shout out for the oat milk option! A for the service, we were promptly seated and tended to with a smile. Our drinks and food arrived promptly and our server frequently checked in to see how our meal was and if we needed anything else. This was my 2nd visit this trip, and I’d gladly go again tomorrow but I’m flying home! I’ll be back when I return to Dublin.

Staff lovely and selection in line with expectation. We went for an afternoon tea experience. Cream for the scones was sour and the sandwiches were all room temp which is a little disconcerting for egg mayo / smoked salmon.

My first time to bewley’s since I was a child! I have lived in Australia for 41 years so it was so lovely and nostalgic to sit down in this beautiful place and enjoy the surroundings with great food and coffee.
