From the team that bought you Red Spice Road, the idea for Burma Lane sprang from a sold-out, raved-about Burmese experience put on by the Red Spice Road crew during the 2013 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival Laneway events.

Since then our chefs have been excited about Burmese cuisine with its myriad of influences and the opportunity for culinary adventure this brings. John McLeay, our Executive Chef, heads up the Burma Lane team. He’s created an exciting menu celebrating the fresh, vibrant, deliciously different flavours of the region, featuring influences from the many cultures of modern and ancient Burma.

We were first timers and went on a recommendation from friends. Loved the funky venue, experienced staff were friendly and the food exceptional. We will definitely being going to Burma Lane again.

Fantasticly tasty food! Good drink selections and cocktails. A bit of a wait for drinks but it was a Saturday night. All 3 of us loved what we ordered! Special mention for the chicken wings, pork belly and HongKong French toast. We'll be back 👍

Wonderful host greeted us when we arrived and made some great recommendations for suitable meals. They were very accommodating as we only had an hour before needing to leave for a show and it wasn't a problem to have a two course meal and cocktails and be out within the hour. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We started in a promising way with the individual portions; scallops in bacon & little lamb balls, they tasted delicious. Then we shared three larger plates, which I found disappointing; they ended up a mixture of mild flavours, not unpleasant, but a bit mushy and lacking clear sharp flavour. One that I think had beans in it was sort of stringy, not a good mouth experience. The service was friendly and faultless.
