The Café Brio, located in Victoria, has been a local favorite for twenty six years, serving up a rustic, Italian inspired menu. Focusing on regional products, Café Brio led by multi awarded Chef Sam Harris selects the highest quality ingredients from local sources to be used in authentic, creative dishes.

At Café Brio, everything is prepared in house. Pasta favorites include gnocchi with roasted leeks, parmesan cream and basil purée, Spaghettini with tomato, garlic, basil, olive oil and parmigiano and also our wild mushroom risotto. From the Sea enjoy seared scallops with peroxides, delicata squash, carmelo and bacon anchovy vinaigrette or our local fish feature. Lastly the Parry Bay Lamb feature from our friends out in Metchosin is an absolute must.

The wine list is extensive with input from multiple Sommeliers on staff always excited to share their new favourite bottle in our unique and cozy dining room.

My girlfriend and I came for dinner and were blown away by the service quality. Being in our early twenties and being an interracial couple we do not always feel welcome in quality restaurants like this, but from the moment we walked in we were greeted with respectful and considerate service. Our waitress even offered to keep my girlfriends flowers in the fridge while we had dinner which I thought was wonderful. The food was good, but the dish that stood out the most by far was the scallops which we both think are a must-try for anyone visiting soon (the sauce, oh my god the sauce!). We will definitely be back to visit again, a new favourite spot for sure.

Getting a charcuterie board or other combination of cured meats is a must here to taste the chef’s clear passion for food. The menu is diverse and has great wine pairing recommendations. Also loved the ability to order half portions - saves room for excellent desserts. Great food, excellent service, and well worth the price.

Rabbit terrine was excellent as was the salad greens. Duck breast was good, not excellent. The risotto was a bit of a failure. Way overcooked rice(turned to mush) coupled with string cheese of some sort. They need some practice from an experienced Italian.

Three courses that were so overseasoned as to be inedible. I once loved this restaurant and after the meal we had I would never go back again. Duck appetizer was cooked to shoe leather. Beautiful mushrooms were drowned in a risotto that tasted only of cheese and miso and both the sablefish and duck entrees were completely overcooked. A waste of beautiful ingredients. We skipped dessert....and we never skip dessert. The worst restaurant meal I've had in years. Breaks my heart to write this review.

The service was outstanding and our server very personable. The food on the other hand not very exciting. This establishment has always been on our favourite list but unfortunately no longer. The choice of appetizers were mainly salads with an unusual addition of corn dogs. My half order of halibut sent me home very hungry. It was most definitely an appetizer size and consisted of 2 potatoes and a couple of greens alongside a very teeny piece of halibut. Our server should have mentioned the portion size not being close to a small meal. The halibut was cooked nicely. The lamb rib appetizer was full of inedible fat (why was this not trimmed?) and very messy to eat with your hands. We were expecting a lollipop type rib. All four of us felt the food was not up to par for price we were charged. Sadly I will not be going back and our guests felt the same. Wondering if they changed the chef? This is too bad as the previous owners made this restaurant a cut above.

Café Brio never disappoints. The service, food and atmosphere are excellent. We couldn’t get a later reservation so had to go at 4:45. To our surprise they have a three course early bird special which my husband enjoyed. He had the soup , the meat balls and cream brûlée. I had the beat salad followed by mushroom risotto. All of the dishes were delicious! We highly recommend Cafe Brio!
