   Chez Max was not as good as it has previously been. I had the steak which was excellent. My friend had the cod which was small. Apple dessert was substandard.

   We went for lunch. My 'brioche' was stale (previous day's bread). I mentioned it to the waitress at the end (leaving a bit to prove the point). She said she would tell the kitchen. My sister's teapot arrived with no lid. She asked for a lid. The waiter said no, this pot had no lid. She asked for a different pot. He brought that. The salad had no dressing (both plates). Just a pile of dry lettuce and tomato. Dressing was brought when requested. Dessert was lovely, as was my sister's sandwich. The waiting staff were friendly.

   La nourriture est vraiment de mauvaise qualité et très inégale !! C’est vraiment un piège à touriste…à éviter absolument même si les serveurs sont sympathiques !

   Chez MaxResponded on 14 February 2023I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy our food as every costumers should have a great time dining at our restaurant, at the moment we are short staffed but this is not an excuse for a bad service. Though I think it's a bit harsh to say we are a tourist trap since we have a lot of regular costumers coming every week.

   Wonderful food and ambiance. Would've liked to thank our waiter for their service, however we noted we had been forgotten about once our last meal was finished. Struggled to catch his attention to pay, and to tip. Had to find another server to process our bill.

   Beautiful restaurant, ambiance magical. Food is exactly what you would expect from a French bistro, simple and delicious. I wish more places like this existed in dublin.

    Ambience was lovely, as were the staff. My wife’s food was fantastic, but my steak frites was only lukewarm when it arrived.

    Had a bad experience Of the 3 meals brought out - one was raw - another was also raw and the 3 was cold

    We were probably the last serving for Thurs lunch. It was very quiet and that was fine. The food was typically french and tasty. Unfortunately it could have been hotter. The staff were friendly but the service was poor. We had long waits between courses. I feel we got them on an off day. Next time will be better I hope.

    I had been to Chez Max many times while I was living in Dublin, and always loved the food and the atmosphere. I now returned and, although it was nice in geberal, there were a few small things that could be improved: we booked at 9pm through Opentable and on the day, they changed the booking for 8pm; the food was nice but very small portions (ie. Merlu) and the soupe à l'oignon lacked taste. The service was very good, and so was the atmosphere. Also a bit strange to be put under pressure to leave a specific percentage tip (in USA style), which we don't find it very nice. We were going to leave a good tip anyway, as the waiter was very good and polite. So, perhaps fixing a few things, it would make the restaurant from good to perfect. Thanks

    Such a great place for dinner. Reasonably priced for the delicious food that they serve. The wait staff were all friendly and helpful. Great experience, and I look forward to dining there again soon.

    Just not good enough. French onion soup was very poor, onions not caramelised, no gruyere cheese but grated emmental cheese with croutons from a packet. What a joke. Steak was poor, frites were cold and a ridiculous salad (wrong leaves and no French dressing but some tomato!). I guess the chef has never been to France!

    Good address for French expats who miss French food but also for people who want to taste French cuisine. I really enjoyed my St Marcelin fondu au vin blanc, this starter was amazing, I must admit that I came for it. I wish I had a bigger portion or another St Marcelin (I'm gourmand, sorry lol). The team was very nice. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

    Lovely food, staff and ambiance. Portions not massive but perfectly adequate. Where we were sitting was a bit chilly when the front door opened and closed as waiting staff attended to clients outside. I'd still go back though!

    Unusually poor for this restaurant…Roast beef was served as pastrami….sun dried tomatoes were served hard ….not rehydrated ….Croque Monsieur served cold and not toasted on one side …..disappointing
