Chin Chin Sydney
Chin Chin restaurant is open 11am till late, 7 days a week and focuses on South-East Asian cuisine with Benjamin Cooper at the helm as executive chef. We're modeled on the dining halls of Asia with a shared-eating concept and therefore operate on a walk-in only policy for groups of less than 8.
Went to Chin Chin for a team dinner. We all loved the food, good value for money and flavour was thoroughly enjoyable. It was loud, so a little hard to hear the people on the other side to our large table. The beats the DJ played set a good scene, lively atmosphere. Lots of staff working so service was prompt. The wine by the litre went down a little too well
Great place to celebrate a special occasion. We had the fixed menu as there were10 of us - the food was amazing, although maybe a little too much food!!
A great place to dine, wait service a little disappointing although the sommelier took over and he was wonderful.
*SURPRISE BIRTHDAY* Thank you Chin Chin! Your staff were happy to play along when I walked in w my husband, and our friends were already sitting waiting for us. The wink from the Maitre De at the front desk was pretty cute too! You have a very electric atmosphere and what a bloody fantastic night we had thank you to your very very attentive staff! We would definitely recommend you to others! Thanks so much!
Delicious food. Had the Feed Me menu #1. Was flexible, the server asked what meals we were interested in and they incorporated those. All very yummy, loved the pulled pork with hoisin pancakes and pad seuw beef the best. We were very full by the last savoury course.
Fabulous food and service
Thoroughly adored our food and the vibes. It was a little loud however still enjoyable. my only two negatives would be that three of us were crammed on a two seater table which meant the third person was facing a long row of tables so that was a bit awkward. Also, the cocktails list could be better.. the special watermelon cocktail was great but the pineapple cocktail was underwhelming and pretty average for the price. Love to see the cocktail list grow with an apple martini included.
Chins Chins is a great food experience, especially when you get the “feed me” menu. The food was fresh and delicious and all dietary requirements were catered for. The drinks were pricey however, and the cheeky $70 service fee we were charged was a bit much. However, the staff were lovely and we were treated kindly and respectfully. The host happily waived the service charge upon questioning it. Overall it was a fun food adventure and we left full and satisfied. Would definitely recommend.
We were a table of 7 so we had a feed me banquet. We told the waitress that we wanted it mixed up with not too much meat. Every dish was superb not a crumb was left, & the variation was fabulous. The wine list was very good and the staff were delightful and very professional. I will definitely return, and recommend
Amazing dining experience along with awesome tunes. Best lunch I’ve had so far this year. Will be back ASAP!
Food was very good but if you have a group larger than 8 be prepared to be hit with an unexpected service tax. Our party was 11 and told our bill was an extra $10 per person service tax - go figure? Especially given the fact that with a group that big you must have one of the banquet menus. Service was ok certainly didn’t justify the additional charge. To be fair they did refund the service tax after my complaint.
Fantastic food and excellent service by the staff!
Really enjoyed my experience at Chin Chin! I loved the menu where you pay a set price and you ordered as much as you want till you can eat no more!
The food was very tasty and pretty healthy! Lots of option for everyone on the menu!
The curry fish was much spicier than I was expecting so maybe asking for mild if you are not good with intense spice
Overall the atmosphere was great, we had a fabulous lady looking after our table, we let her chose our menu for us and she was spot on!
Absolutely beautiful food!
Best food ever! Have been over 10plus times now and will be back again
The food is always delicious at ChinChin. We have been several times. However for the first time ever I do have to say that I was a little disappointed with the service. Not due to lack of attention but rather the opposite. There was 6 of us for dinner and the food came out so quickly that we asked the wait staff to slow down. As soon as we took our last mouthful of dessert we were given the bill even though we would have liked to enjoy another drink. It was clear they were trying to get us out.
Great food, but poor service. Too many customers crammed in a not enough wait staff to service them.
Great venue for sharing dishes. Staff very attentive and extremely friendly. The hostess was wonderful and very welcoming.
Food and service was amazing!
A must-do Sydney restaurant. Couldn’t fault it!
Had a group of 7 and we had the Feed Me - classic menu. They catered for allergies - 1 of the people with us had a seafood allergy and was able to still have all of the dishes as they made a non seafood option for her through out the course of the meal as well as peoples personal preferences e.g chilli on the side
Everything from the service to the food was a 10 out of 10.
Would definitely recommend as well as go back.
Food was fantastic. Couldnt fault a dish. Service people were friendly, welcoming and professional. Ambience was vibrant.
Amazing food and flavours and great service and atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere.
I liked the all 80's music, it was a little weird but totally fun.
However, the volume was SO loud that each of us on our table of 6 was forced to yell... even to hear the person sitting across the table. You could forget about having a group discussion, we were all constantly saying "Pardon?", cupping an ear and leaning across the dishes to interact. It was quite frustrating and a definite dampener.
WE CELEBRATED MY PARTNERS BIRTHDAY HERE IN A GROUP OF 8 AND ENJOYED THE FEED ME MENU WHICH INCLUDED A VARIETY OF SEAFOOD, CURRY AND ASIAN DISHES, THE DESSERT ICE CREAMS WERE YUMMY TOO. WE ALSO HAD FABULOUS COCKTAILS. THE FOOD & SERVICE WERE FABULOUS AS USUAL.
Hi Please call me urgently as our bill and credit card receipt is different and you have oversarged us by $75.90
We had a table of 9 males and 1 female next to us an we could not hear what our table of four said ... consequently we had a lunch and left ... normally we would linger longer ... as it was on my recommendation having been to both Melbourne and Sydney before I was slightly miffed! I found the price of wine was excessive wherein the food was extremely good value!
The atmosphere & quality of food is always outstanding!
Food was nice
Good flavours and desserts were great for Asian style
Music was too loud for a near empty restaurant and staff were non existent
We had the feed me menu and food was being put down without empty plates taken away
We asked for clean plates and they forgot and then they came without cutlery. Many dishes were set down without serving utensils. Had to ask twice for plates to have dessert
The evening was made very special and enjoyable by the staff who were knowledgable, patient and helpful with our group of 12.
I have been to Chin Chin in Melbourne numerous times and everytime the meal has been outstanding... however Sydney was not quite the same. I'm not sure if it was because we were a group and had to order the banquet menu but the food was average.
Have dined at the Melbourne location and found the Sydney experience to be rather different in food quality and taste.
Always a great experience to dine at Chin Chin. Staff were excellent catering for a party of 13 people.
Food is always excellent and as many of our guests were first time diners there they were very impressed.
Recommend to anyone going to have the Butter Chicken dish this dish is not like any other Butter Chicken you have had, this was so delicious and the bread with it yum!!
Thanks again for another great night
I was there with my partner, my sister and her partner. We hardly can hear across the table, very noisy and bad acoustic.
Service and food is good.
If i’ve To come back again, i’ll Think twice as what’s the point of gathering and eating, when u can’t hear properly.
I myself being an architect disappointed with the bad acoustic level, though interior was done nicely.
It defeats the purpose of being a good place, if u don’t have a good functional acoustic.
Music is better be a background.
Excellent service, food, staff, music cannot fault it at all
Amazing! Loved it but it was super noisy
Wouldn't recommend the the set menu at all. choose the $88 set menu and walked out feeling hungry. It is a bit rich to ask that kind of money and been taken advantage of, 6 guys and they only bought 1 bowl of steam rice, please!!!!!! will not recommend this restaurant for a get together with friends at all. very poor food quantities especially at that price. cant express how disappointed i was as i organised this get together with my closes mates.
great service and good food, waitress was attentive and informative, always there when we needed something, food came out fast and was delicious, we really enjoyed the kingfish sashimi and the roasted duck! dessert was also amazing, we had the sticky coconut rice
Very attentive service - they even noticed it was my birthday because I had a birthday card on the table and then came and sang happy birthday and put a sparkler in my dessert!
A slightly disappointing experience. Table of 6 seated at a way-to-small table, with the result that it was very cramped with the serving plates, wine glasses etc.
The pipis in XO sauce were very tasty but there was more than a little sand in them which made chewing a challenge.
We were told we were getting Wagyu but it never arrived.
3 desserts were put on the table - with no plates share, just spoons! Had to ask for small plates.
Overall not good value for money at $ 88/pax
