   Service was horrible. A waiter did not ask us once if we needed anything and once we asked for the bill the waiter dumbed it on the edge of the table with the eftpos machine and walked away.

   Drinks arrived at the end of dinner, the caramel pork belly was very dry and when we told the staff they just left it on the table and also didn’t remove it from the bill. Eventually they did but the whole experience wasn’t great.

   Cudos to hiring Isabelle and Josie, and having young but also familiar faces there who know your customers base already. They were fantastic as with the Hostess (whose name we did not get). Food was fantastic, looks like a more streamlined menu and we didn’t mind that.

   We have ordered take-away often from China Diner and have been aways very happy. We loved the whole experience going to the Diner and now have a new favorite local eatery and aim to make a regular visit with more friends and family.

    Service was slow! For all you can eat dumplings offer…dumplings should really be ready to go…not wait for almost 40 minutes for first dumplings. Then when you ask for more certain dumplings, we were asked if we were sure…why advertise all you can eat dumplings if your made to feel uncomfortable asking for more! Service was slow and had to keep asking for dipping sauces for dumplings. Advice…put soy sauce, chilli etc on each table…save a time and saves customers from keep having to ask. Waitresses were not friendly at all and made us feel almost uncomfortable every time we asked for something. Our sides were forgotten but I must admit the manager added them on with no charge for his mistake.

    Food was very good. The banquet isn’t good value for money. I paid with cash and they didn’t have any change. I was $4 short for the exact amount which meant I had to use a $50 note with getting no change back. Was very strange for a nice restaurant in a nice area to have not any change. They should make this clear before hand.

    The overall quality of food and atmosphere in the restaurant was very good! We booked through open table (not realising that it's an availability checker, and that the restaurant still need to confirm) so we arrived and had to wait 10-15mins at the bar before being seated.

    We love China Diner Double Bay and keep returning. We like to eat there for lunch or early dinner, so no noise. Pity that the wonderful duck pancakes are now only six pieces not eight. We know prices are increasing but were disappointed with this reduction. And not in price. We love the service but it is unfortunate that staff change so often that we can't develop ongoing relationships. Pity. Also, the change from draught Kirin beer to the new one (Stoney?) is not good. A cloudy and malty draught like this does not compliment the delicacy of the food. Pleaes install a keg of Asahi or Kirin. Dry beer please. Does the owner take any notice of this comments?     Starting with a mocktail pina colada & mojito each, our outdoor table caught a gentle breeze why we people-watched and caught up while the kitchen worked on our food order. Innovative and tasty twist on Chinese classic dishes, we enjoyed every dish. From the sesame-encrusted spring rolls to the modish, sticky sweet dipping sauces, we didn’t find a single dish where we would change a thing. We finished with the poached chicken slices with ginger shallot topping and were extremely satisfied. Didn’t miss the alcohol those drinks were so good We will be back, for sure!

    Dined here mid October 2022. Dumplings and similar dishes are the stand-outs and the five spice duck pancakes were delicious. The wine list is pretty good too - enjoyed an excellent WA chardonnay. Service was attentive, we especially appreciate the later-than-normal hours. A vey tasty, four course meal for under $90 (exc drinks) is great value.

    We had a marvelous time at China Diner. The service was impeccable. It was Father's Day, and there were special treats- a free beer and a voucher for $25. Neither of these were advertised so it was a lovely surprise to be treated so well. We loved the food. Definitely worth a return visit.

    Service was variable. Numerous request for drinks, sauces etc. It was a busy time. But we are long term fans and usually dine at quieter times.
