Our entire team look forward to welcoming you and your guests for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.
We had a banquet menu and the food was excellent. One criticism I would make is that for lunch there were too many main courses. Next time I would order from the menu
China Lane is consistently one of my very favourite restaurants in Sydney. The food is amazing, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is convivial. Thank you.
China Lane always delivers. Ideal pre-Angel Place concerts as the staff are so considerate. Food is prompt and we were even given a polite reminder to get to the concert hall in time!
tried to book again for this Thursday 530 for 2 pre theatre
your website said that the restaurant is closed
Great food ,delicious and well presented, however the alcohol 🍷 is very very expensive, enjoy the food but just drink water
Absolutely premium place to dine. Food and service was exceptional, while the atmosphere far outstripped expectations. The John Dory was perhaps the best and most intricate fish I have ever tasted, melted in the mouth to say the least. The wild mushrooms were a taste sensation, with just the right amount of spice. Adding to the overall experience was the dessert which was easily on par with the rest of the experience. The perfect balance between the tart of the apple and white chocolate ice cream sweetness capped off a wonderful night. Although I made the rookie mistake of pairing red wine with fish, even this did not detract from a wonderful dine in. Would highly recommend this establishment to anyone open to a somewhat different interpretation of modern Asian cuisine.
My friends who where from Vancouver enjoyed their dinner at the restaurant. One of the waiters spoke to us very slowly as if we didn't understand English, it was such a pity to be treated that way if though we are Asians. It spoiled the who evening for me.
I've been before but this visit the food was outstandingly delicious. We let our server decide for us and she totally nailed it.
Absolutely FABULOUS in every way from start to finish. The waiter (from England) was friendly and helpful in making recommendations which were spot on, Cocktails were yummy, loved the Tequila, Passion Fruit with Chilie, the Dumplings outstanding (4 per order) chicken wings were crispy with the perfect amount sweet & spicy sauce and the John Dory (fish) amazing. We also had the Wagu Beef for a main course which was tasty but not as tender as one might think. Overall everyone loved everything but unfortunately we were too full for desert which I’m sure would have been wonderful as well. Would definitely go back.
Fantastic service with even better food. This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city.
Food is tasty and interesting. Quantities reasonable. The service is very uneven - at times hard to get the attention of waiters.
The most negative quality is the noise caused by customers screaming over each other and being amplified by the wooden floor and other hard surfaces. This makes it almost impossible to have a conversation without also shouting.
Noise in a restaurant does not indicate fun or success. It is an impediment to enjoyment and spoils the experience.
Our favourite restaurant in Sydney food always consistently delicious and. Service always friendly and efficient
Matius was a great waiter and Simon allowed us to change tables.
Service was great. Food and drink was good. Pork was a tad bit over cooked
The food was exceptional. The chef is bold and adventurous. He shared his new dishes with us and welcomed our feedback. The standard of food is outstanding and the portions are generous. Service from all staff could not be faulted. This restaurant is a must.
Loved the interesting menu, each dish had lovely distinctive flavours.
We had the banquet for 2 and it was all simply delicious. The service was exceptional. We will return - thank you for a great night!
Mostly good. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. We had to wait considerable time for our 2nd Main Course - clearly they had some how forgotten it. Provided us with steamed rice with it but no real apology or explanation but I would have been asking for more rice anyway given our existing rice had gone cold in the interim which was the vegetarian fried rice not steamed rice. We were a table of 2 seated next to a table of 2 and we were close enough and it was quiet enough for us to hear their ongoing conversations even when they were not speaking loudly
Great food in a great location with great service. I highly recommend letting the wait staff choose your meal selection. They took the trouble out of trying to decide what to have.
I felt it was a nice evening with great service. Food was good, we took the banquet for $77.00 and wine prices varied allowing for flexibility. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable and the seating was not very private but overall, I would definitely recommend and go again!
great casual dining with excellent service. Good choice of food and would definitely go back.
Enjoyed every dish and most of them were unique.
Very attentive service.
Would definitely return.
I have ben to China Lane on several occasions and have always enjoyed it. I bought overseas visitors on Saturday and they were very impressed.
A perfect evening out with two of my girlfriends. The service was incredible (especially with my friend who was gluten-free) , they even stored all my shopping bags, the food & wine divine and such a lovely atmosphere which was vibey but importantly you could hear each other talk. A special evening out to a restaurant I’ve been keen to visit for ages.
Siu mai and prawn toast a bit too salty, pork belly was too sweet. Other menu items (wok fried beef and hummus) were good, as were drinks. Hokey Pokey dessert was excellent. Good service.
Very elegant special restaurant, perfect for a corporate lunch or a special dinner date. Food is exquiste. Top service. Would recommend highly.
China Lane can't go wrong. The food is fantastic - fresh, good looking and always delicious. The staff are reliably pleasant, prompt and helpful and the ambience is delightful. They have the good fortune to be in the quieter part of the Angel Place precinct, so if you have an outside table it's lovely and quiet but there is still plenty of action and lots of opportunities for people-watching.
I went with my daughter and friend and we shared several plates. It was just the right amount of food and everything we had was delicious. It is a great restaurant for sharing so you can try all the delicious tastes.
loved it all. the flavours were great. food cooked perfectly. service was excellent. really really loved it
We often eat here before a concert at the Recital Hall. he service is excellent, the pre theatre menu is delicious and that staff are efficient and always have us out in time
Delicious and adventurous food; impeccable service . The only downside was that the dark awnings blocked out the beautiful birdsong installation and the summer evening sunshine
Great service with patient explanation of the multiple enticing menu items by our server, Tim. We very much enjoyed the "new Chinese" cuisine that brings a fresh, innovative take on old classics and some new. Standouts for us were the Japanese Salad, the shrimp lettuce cups, Mu Shu Duck, and the entree of grouper fish. Don't skip dessert, our choice being the apple granita and ice cream. Adequate wine list with Australian Rieslings being great accompaniment to the Asian food. A great meal.
Lovely place to go and fantastic food. Service was impeccable. Only downside is that it does get quite noisy inside. There is always outdoor seating available, will try that next time. Must try: crispy pig's ear and also their pork belly
Great and innovative Chinese food, coupled with attentive service - highly recommended
Staff were awesome, was my mother's birthday and gave us the best table and service. Really enjoyable food, so many flavours, and good ambience. Would definitely recommend, just as good, if not better, than China Doll.
Food was very tasty, Sechuan style chinese/australian. We're not great fans of sitting outside, but this was the option for our pre-concert dinner booking, and it was fine. And fortunately the weather was fine for al-fresco too, although, under the large awning in Angel Place, its a very inside outside anyway. So, food was great, service was great, and very quick. We were eating less than 15 mins after being seated, and never felt anxious about whether we would get to the concert on time. Wait-staff were very attentive and friendly, without being ott, and check-out and paying was quick and efficient too. This is a great choice for a pre-concert meal (and there is a small parking discount too for Wilson-Recital Centre park)
Excellent modern Asian food served to share. The Sichuan Chicken Wings have a wonderful zing.
Fantastic food, great vibe and great service.
Beautiful food prepared with the freshest ingredients. Highly recommend.
Tiffany gave my daughter and I outstanding service. Very pleasant. Gave us great food suggestions and was just a pleasure to have her attend to us :)
