What Insiders Are Saying
Cosme is an upscale Mexican restaurant in Flatiron that’s much more approachable than it appears to be.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! live in Los Angeles— wish We had a restaurant like this! Delicious creative beautiful food, awesome staff and amazing fun hip vibe.
Delicious food. Somewhat expensive. Good ambiance. Remember nouvelle cuisine? A little more quantity than that...
Quite eclectic menu. Extremely small portions for the price. Wine very good but LOW value.
Great ambience, service and food quality. Very pricey for the size of portions.
A menu which changes with the seasons and just as delicious each visit. Well done.
Great food, modern twist. Great ambiance.
Amazing food. We had our waiter pick dishes for us. He was right on point.
Horrible service, didn't pay attention to any simple requests we made (bring plates one at a time, check in if we want more before bringing dessert menu, ignored empty drink glasses, etc). Dishes were on the small side for the price, nothing "wow" on the menu that we tasted.
The service was probably the best part of the experience, save for the fact that the server forgot about the coffee that we ordered with dessert. Dessert came and the waiter disappeared. Faced with a melting dessert, we ate our dessert, which wasn’t great. Finally we tracked down someone who brought our coffee 15 minutes after we finished dessert. Overall, the food was terribly bland, which was pretty surprising. I’m glad that I was able to check Cosme off my list and confirm that I’m not missing out on much. I’d rather fly to Mexico City and eat at Pujol than return to Cosme again. Of course, it’s more than entirely possible that it was an off night and that the particular menu served on Saturday is not one bit representative of the overall quality of Cosme. But after a nearly $400 meal in which I felt highly dissatisfied I personally wouldn’t return to test that theory.
Both my husband and I have lived in Mexico, and I am a home chef. We had high expectations of Cosme. What we liked: the service was excellent, and the plating was beautiful. The guacamole was superb. The tamal with butternut squash was delicious. What was disappointing: the restaurant was so dark, I could barely make out my husband’s face, and the illumination directly above the tables was only slightly better. The chairs were lower than average, and so we felt like little kids sitting at the grown-up’s table. We chose five dishes to share, and only two would I order again. In one of the dishes, I found grit in the greens. For the price, we were disappointed.
I came here to celebrate my friends birthday. Service was horrible. The worst I had in NY. This place represents its Chefs horribly. Our reservation time was closer to closing but this is no excuse. The restaurant should be amazing from open to close. I am the general manager of a Zagat rated steak house and places like this saddens me. Good luck Cosme.
The portions were tiny, the service slow and the prices were very expensive.
Surprisingly nice environment and the food was amazing, unforgettable flavors and dishes.
But the size of the dishes very small for the price they ask for.
It is worth it once in a while!!!
VERY expensive for tiny portions of indifferent food. The dessert was good; the rest was dismissible. Don’t understand the hype for this chef and this restaurant.
Deafeningly loud and so dark I could barely see when we were walking to be seated or when I got up to use the restroom. Impossible to talk with friends over dinner without shouting. Noise level somewhere between happy hour and Friday night at a bar as reference
Food is delicious. Service always a little slow.
Gran lugar, comida, ambiente y servicio inmejorables
We went to Cosme on a trip to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. The food was outstanding, the service impeccable.
Food is so good, although it’s expensive for someone who doesn’t earn in dollars.
Special family trip to NYC
It was extremely pricy for what you got. And the drinks were filled with huge ice cubes. Not recommended if you want to spend 100 per person
Outstanding food, excellent service, and superb drinks- Cosme is what a restaurant should be!,
It’s ok for a one time experience ( short of a better word).
It’s not the best Mexican restaurant .
Priced beyond the quality and service. .
The best plates were the mole and the ribs .
I spent over $800.00 without the tip .
From 6 to 9 we consumed food .
I was asked how many plates we wanted because they needed the table ..... after $1000.00 ( with tip) : very poor service .
I will not return to Cosme .
Thank you for asking.
Food was out of this world. Waiter was not helpful and almost rude at first. It's not an easy menu to navigate for first time diners. And his manner was irritating. Thankfully, he warmed up as the meal went along.
Good food. Ok aer
I loved the service of jose.C did a good job and I will gladly return
Food was really average for the price and the hype
The service was terrible and the portions were quite small. Would not recommend.
Absolutely wonderful as always
First time and it was good. Very quirky menu Definitely ask for the guacamole - wasn’t on the menu but was one of our favorite things. The lamb was also fantastic. Duck mole least favorite.
The food was Ok and expensive. Guacemole, lamb tacos and clam app were notable.Do NOT get the Mole - waste of $32. Drinks are good. Would recommend for drinks and apps, not dinner.
Amazing. The duck Carnitas is a must!!
An unforgettable experience, nothing out there like cosme
Wow! Amazing food! The bed guacamole I ever tried and the suck carnitas is another level!
AWFUL experience! I had dined at Cosme 2 years ago, and I can honestly say this was the WORST dinner I've had in NY! It was gone completely downhill! The "plates" are not even big enough to be considered "tapas", but the worst part is that they had no flavor! The worse part is the service was terrible!!!! They keep you waiting at the bar, and when they give you a table they rush you to finish eating. After spending a fortune we left VERY dissapointed and very hungry! We had an awful time, and wasted a dinner in NY when we could of gone somwhere else!
Very interesting food. Well worth tasting a variety of dishes.
