About this restaurant

Innovative
Great for fine wines
Romantic

Dandy, located in the South London district of Bermondsey, at the former site of Monmouth Coffee roastery, is a restaurant with a focus on pairing innovative home-style cooking with ingredients from local farmers, foragers and bakers alongside low-intervention wines from handfuls of carefully selected small-scale producers. The menu shifts daily, and is based on local availability and the chef’s whim, typically serving playful classics like whole fried chicken and racks of lamb ribs.

Initial impressions set the tone - £150 meal for two and the waiter had to be reminded to take menus when seating us... Clothes / hair stink from being in a room with an open kitchen and very limited ventilation/extraction. Food was decent without being distinctive, though very rich and at times greasy. Wine list was very good, with a limited but well curated range by the glass. More often than not you had to get the attention of one of three waiting staff for the entire restaurant, rather than expect them to come to you. Could well be understaffed because of C-19, but if prices remain normal, I’d expect service to too.

Food was great and a little bit different. Service warm and friendly esp the chap from Spa Gardens! Venue very hip though probably a bit over cavernous. Overall a very good addition to the local scene.

Great food and lovely staff who went above and beyond. The hip hop was a bit distracting and aggressive and didn’t seem to fit the mood but everything else was great
