We are a neighbourhood restaurant in Surry Hills with a great bar and a lovely team.
Our menu is dedicated to Australian produce, wine, beer & cocktails, opening every evening and for weekend brunch.

We are located in a heritage townhouse just off Taylor Square at the axis of Paddington, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills with comfortable counter-top dining, a garden terrace and an intimate dining room, also available for private hire.

We are thrilled to have one of Australia’s most experienced chefs, Jamie Irving (previously Berta, Est, Pearl) heading up our kitchen. Together our goal is to champion the exceptional ingredients of this great continent through a changeable menu of sharing plates.

Our kitchen stays open throughout the day and late into every evening.

Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food was very tasty, simple and well timed. Bottomless drinks option inflates the final bill a little and isn't really necessary unless it's very hot and you're very thirsty (which it was and we were).

Service - amazing! Food - delicious! Surroundings - restful and interesting. Lamb in particular was plentiful and mouthwatering. Love they had grown-up non alcoholic drinks too. Definitely will be back.

I had the best of times at my three course dinner att The Dead Ringer. The starter, chicken liver parfait, was to die for. Insanely good. It just melted in my mouth. And the desert Madeleine cake, which i tasted for the first time (I have only read about it at Marcel Proust), was unbelievably tasteful. The drinks made by the charming and helpful bartender/waiter Max was delicious and when i said that i was a sweettouth i was offered a desert wine on the house. One of the best restaurant experiences i ever head both when it comes to service and food. In addition the restaurant is very smartly decorated. If i did not live in Sweden i would go her at least once a month. Top class!

Loved the bartender who made great cocktails. Loved the food which was 90% perfect but felt that the lamb was a little dry and tough. It was saved by the amazing purée and sauce accompanying it, but not as melt in the mouth as expected. The kingfish was spectacular. A dish the we didn’t order came to the the table so we sent it back, but it appears to have been added to the bill. My fault for not checking but when we added up the night the next day, the bill seemed more than it should have

Service was great and attentive. We were outside and there was a lot of rain and wind so since it wasn't occupied the fabulous waitress moved us into the private dining room. Food was delicious and so nice to have so many GF options and be able to share with celiac friends.

Great food - we had nonnies quinoa bread, the octopus and the gnocchi - each dish was incredibly delicious. Our waiter was great and he remembered that I was gluten intolerant and when asked what desserts to have only offered the GF options - which was so great to have my allergies taken seriously. The food came out quickly, the cocktails were fabulous and the down lighting gave off romantic, moody lighting. The dishes were reasonably priced too. Would 10/10 recommend Dead Ringer for dates, catch ups with friends or for treating the parents to a fabulous meal out.
