What Insiders Are Saying
Del Posto is one of the best special occasion restaurants in New York City. Think of it like a more upscale Babbo, or Daniel with pasta.
Absolutely exceptional. We went for our first anniversary and were blown away.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been. Service is outstanding. They anticipate and take care of all your needs. The food is delicious.
Birthday. 2nd time her and the first experience was so great I was afraid that it would not meet my expectations but it was as good if not better! Service is beyond great
I heard great things, but too call the experience meh would be kind
Perfect in all categories, food, ambiance service, decor, music., and anything else that I left out.
Great place to have lunch. We tried the captain's menu which was definitely an experience, well finely go again
Excellent Gluten Free options (every pasta they have can be made gluten free)!
My dining companions remarked this would be the meal against which all future meals will be measured. They truly reset the bar. Splurge on the tasting menu with wine pairings.
All around wonderful dining experience.
A terrific experience. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. It was a lovely night
We had the most beautiful evening. It was our 7 year wedding anniversary and we could not have picked a more perfect place. What made the evening was our wonderful wait team.
Staff was amazing and overall experience an A+
Outstanding experience, the staff is well trained. , food was phenomenal wine list is superb.
I’ll be back for a nice bottle of wine
Flawless diamond of a restaurant! The food is delicious, wine selection exquisite and ambiance friendly yet special in nature.
Food is exquisite. Beautifully presented, flavor combinations always wonderful. Service impeccable. Ambiance a pleasure. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Watching the staff is like watching a well choreographed ballet.
Overpriced, but otherwise a great experience. Great service, everyone from the hosts to all of the servers.
Our recent dinner at Del Posto was so wonderful in every way. Celebrating a birthday with my family is gift enough but our server Debbie made the evening so comfortable and memorable for everyone. The experience of enjoying delicious food in an amazingly beautiful atmosphere with our almost adult children was a treat. Debbie made each of us feel like the night was created just for us!
We had an excellent aniversary luncheon; food was very good and service was outstanding. We loved the wine paring as well. This an elegant old-school restaurant that we wouldn't miss when visiting New York.
I’ve enjoyed eating at Del Posto for several years. Unlike in the past, yesterday was a disappointment, mostly due to amateurish service. Also, the amuse bouche (artichoke and chicken soup) were both much too salty. Waiter spilled jus on tablecloth right next to my arm. Later, he spilled water. Waiter body checked table causing a disturbance. While in mid conversation, an arm appears in between my friend I to remove bread crumbs from tablecloth so we have to stop our conversation. Waiter confused which one of us ordered the secondo so I had to correct him. There much movement and flittering of waitstaff around our table when I would prefer that they remain in the background, not hovering over us. We were seated immediately adjacent other occupied tables when 2/3 of the room was unoccupied so we were annoyed by unavoidably overhearing conversations from them. I would have preferred to have a more peaceful and relaxing meal. One or two of these accidents or mishaps is understandable, but when they happen over and again, it has an adverse impact on the overall dining experience. Changes in the way a restaurant operates is normal and inevitable, but this is not for the better.
The service is impeccable and it is a shame that the food is disappointing. We ordered spaghetti al riccio (urchin)
My friend and I are from Italy from Rome and the recipe was altered and too heavy on butter. Now who knows how this recipe is and what it should taste like would be disappointed. I would say that this restaurant is more American in the interpretation of Italian dishes.
Nonetheless the servers tried their best.
Truly an exceptional experience — from the initial seating to the final check, this restaurant knows how to deliver a memorable and remarkable dining time.
Great service; very knowledgeable and accommodating. They were able to work with all of our dietary needs (gluten, dairy free, pescatarian). We were there on a Sunday night for dinner, and it was quiet enough for conversation. The live piano player only added to the acoustic ambiance. Love the elegant design. The pairing is fun and informative.
Our food was quite good. The appetizers, Scampi, Carne Cruda, Octopus, and Girella, were delicious and the entrees, Orecchiette, Garganelli, Tortellini, and Ribeye were outstanding. The Panna Cotta and the Sorbets were the perfect finish. My only complaint is that the food, especially the starters, is really overpriced regardless of the quality. I really feel that the restaurant would get more repeat business if
it adjusted the prices. With a decent bottle of wine and a few cocktails, we spent $1,300 U.S. currency
or $1,700 CDN currency. $400.00 per person is just too exhoritant. I would go to Del Posto more often if it was less expensive.
Service and food were excellent! Ambiance was perfect as well!
One of the premier restaurants in the United States. Lives up to the hype every single time!
Expense account atmosphere with an emphasis on pushing you through to clear table. Amuse bouche on table immediately after seating. Cocktails slow to arrive and we wanted to finish those before eating anything. Too many people came by too often to try to clear before we ever touched them. Cleared before we even tried them without asking. Approached several times before having our drinks to ask if we wanted to order. Service so “efficient” that almost impossible to understand the rapid fire description of dishes fairly thrown at table - equally speedily removed if you made the mistake of putting utensil down before finishing. Menu/food formulaic. Beautiful setting but pianist who has to be loud to be heard in such a large space makes conversation difficult at reasonable level. Expensive for that kind of rushed treatment.
Banal Italian food cost $500 plus for two. What a waste.
Espectacular!! The place, the service, the food and the ambiance were all superb! Fine dining hard to find! ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
I thought the food was overrated for the price. The downstairs is very business like and you sit one on top of the other person.
Excellent from the moment we arrived. The entire staff was impressive and attentive. The meal and wine was excellent. Highly recommend the eight course Captains dinner.
This is a fabulous restaurant. The service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. A very creative chef's choice menu did not disappoint.
Really good service
My steak was not tender and my wifes dover sole was over cooked
The food was amazing but they got two of our dishes wrong! Totally unacceptable at that price
Wonderful experience from start to finish.
I have been to Del Posto before and was always impressed. Unfortunately, this time (which was my birthday) I was disappointed primarily with the service. Although we had a number of knowledgeable professionals attending to us, it seemed that we were left unattended more than I would have expected. My dining colleague and I are both gluten free, and the head waiter helped us select gluten free options.
That is always appreciated. The food was good, but not up to the caliber I recall on my last visit. We did receive an extra dessert with a candle in celebration of my birthday. The birthday wish (the plate said happy birthday too) was a nice thought. My appetizer was the Himachi and it was delicious. I ordered a pasta dish as my main course. It was the first pasta dish on the menu and recommended by the waiter. It was extremely rich, but tasty. However, it was lukewarm. I decided not to send it back. My dining partner had the veal and pork pasta with red sauce pasta and it was very good. The desserts were beautifully presented and extremely enjoyable.
a shining example of a perfect culinary experience. service, ambiance, humility, symphony, perfection.. one may run out of the positive adjectives to describe del posto. it was my honor to dine here and cannot wait to go back.
Service and ambiance were spectacular. The wine was wonderful. The courses came too fast - we did ask them to slow down, and they graciously accommodated. My wife’s salad was wonderful, she loved her duck sausage pasta. My octopus was OK, and I was unimpressed with my pasta dish.
Have been going to Del Posto for years and never disappointed. This visit was a special occasion - 41st anniversary of our first date! Del Posto was perfect.
