   A lovely evening but slightly too long a wait for arrival drinks, didn't notice the check in table as it was at the back of the tables not front so little confusing on arrival may want to relocate that ! . Venue was overbooked with a large private booking as well as alfresco dining which made it hard for staff to serve quickly and created delays with food and slowed service for repeat drinks. We had Jess as waitress who cannot faulted she was very knowledgable about drinks and menu choices and worked hard with the team to do their best in the circumstances. Singer was fab, setting great, we had a lovely time. It's a must visit, food is fab, very welcoming and beautiful venue.

   Wild mushroom pizza had a few shreds of basic button mushrooms and absolutely smothered in thick cheese. No wild mushrooms in site and no taste of truffle oil. Very disappointing. Garlic bread very expensive.

   Lovely light room, perfect for a cream tea. Food was lovely and waitress very pleasant. I have only marked it down because we had to wait a while for our cream tea. When it arrived it was delicious. We would definitely come again

    3 of us went for breakfast the food was excellent not greasy at all and the fried eggs cooked perfectly, just as we had asked for. The waitress was lovely the ambience was superb. Good value for good quality food. We will be going back very soon

    took my mum here for her birthday and the staff were attentive, informative and although my daughter was held up in traffic, they were very kind and waited for her to arrive before serving our afternoon tea. It was delicious, it was served in a beautiful dining room with a relaxing atmosphere. we will definetly be coming back!

    Had burgers. Only two choices medium rare or well done. Do not order well done, it was charred beyond belief, cheese was burnt and disappeared into the rock hard burnt buns. Fries were OK Only two dessert choices or cheese

    The food was awful. Very dry sandwiches, quiche imposible to eat, horrible taste and very hard. Only one scone per person!!! And £35 per person with one very small glass of Prosecco. I will not recommend anybody to go there for Afternoon Tea!!!! They charged us £6.40 service charge for the waiter come to our table 3 times, one with the food another one with the glasses of Prosecco and the last one with the teas. Absolutely very disappointed and embarrassed as I was my birthday present for my best friend. Definitely it’s a NO

    A month before Father’s Day I booked a table for a roast dinner, as we’d enjoyed it the year before. Unfortunately, upon arrival I was told that there weren’t any table bookings and only a BBQ was being offered. The General Manager came out and said that ‘they ran out of time’ to phone me in advance. As it we would be unlikely to get a table elsewhere we accepted the offer of a round of free drinks and the BBQ at the cost of the roast dinner. However we found that the BBQ event lacked any ambience. The food was not labelled - imagine my surprise at the heat of jerk chicken! Burgers were cooked quite rare. The brisket was tough. Definitely not near the quality of the roast dinner we had expected and hoped for.

    I love breakfast in the Orangery. A lovely day with the windows open. All the staff are so helpful and although there are cheaper venues none can compare with the little feel of luxury.

    As ever, it was beautiful to look out onto the open fields, more so today, as the sun was shining - we literally could have stayed all day! The food was as delicious as ever - that has to be the best-ever porridge and the staff were very attentive.

    19:00 booking for dinner. Good quality dining in a quiet, relaxing setting (restaurant, hotel & grounds) with subdued background music. Sample menu online (fairly limited IMO but inc vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options). Attentive but unobtrusive service. On this experience, more popular with older clientele but Downham Hall also offers other services, some geared to the young - including children.

    I went for a late lunch with my husband. The waitress was attentive and was able to answer questions about the menu. We both had three courses and the food was well seasoned with good portion sizes. There is plenty of parking and lovely views of the surrounding open fields. Will definitely return.

    We had a lovely breakfast. Food was very good. We had poached eggs which were a bit overdone and the fried egg was slightly underdone but apart from that the food was very good. We will definitely be back.
