The Drawing Room at Ashford Castle
Whether you’re enjoying a romantic break, catching up with family and friends or hosting a relaxed meeting, The Drawing Room lends itself perfectly for the occasion.
A wonderful experience in the Beautiful drawing room if Ashford castle. Gorgeous food and fantastic friendly and professional service. A wonderful treat!!
Excellent service and food. Staff are incredible and views are stunning. A real 5 star experience.
Great experience. Even took a look around inside the castle afterwards. Toured the grounds before eating. Allow a minimum of 60-90 minutes to do that! Truly lovely!
My food was cold. The fish was soggy. Inedible really. Left most of it. Service wasn’t great. All in all, pretty disappointing and poor value as a consequence. I am hoping it is a blip in my experience of Ashford over many, many years. I am very fond of Ashford and I won’t let this stop me from visiting again. Disappointed though. 😕
Delightful! So enjoyed returning to Ashford Castle 32 years later, even more beautiful than I remember!
Fab experience. Very comfortable and relaxed. Beautiful room interiors plenty to look at and enjoy.
Superb warm welcome.
Beautiful table all ready and waiting for us.
Relaxed, tranquil atmosphere with outstanding service.
We enjoyed every moment and every mouthful.
Excellent service and outstanding ambiance to have lunch overseeing the lake
had lunch with my mother and two little daughters. felt so warm and welcomed that nice-want to come there again in the nearest time
We had a lovely time, the room is gorgeous and the drinks and food list is excellent. The service is superb, really friendly and professional.
This is a great place for a special occasion. We will be back!
Get there early so you can see the grounds prior to your reservation. Its a classy experience and highly recommend it.
Friendly, exceptional service (Colin and Claire) coupled with excellent food and a beautiful location made this a memorable experience.
We had a very enjoyable experience, food was lovely and beautifully presented. Staff could not do enough for us and venue was amazing.
What a lovely afternoon! Beautiful view paired with beautiful and delicious food!
Great venue if you need a casual meal at Ashford Castle. We went before our hawk walk and let them know what time we needed to be finished and had a nice, light meal.
We had a lunch at Drawing room, very beautiful place, my Caesar salad with shrimp was fine, shrimp had a plain taste though.
Wonderful experience. Everyone was enthusiastic and attentive. I highly recommend The Drawing Room at Ashford.
Beautiful setting, great food and service
It was perfect and everything I could have hoped! Delicious food!
Beautiful hotel set in amazing grounds, service and attention to details outstanding.
Only downside no bread (soda bread) served with the soup very disappointed .
Fabulous ambience, lovely food, excellent service. I would like to see more vegetarian options, without having to ask especially. The drawing room is absolutely beautiful, with an amazing view of the castle fountain and Lough Corrib lake. 😊
Absolutely the very best coming back in April to stay the night for my wife’s 60 th top draw well done, might bring my friend Donald Trump if that’s ok! All the best Tony Hudson.
Excellent afternoon tea, very attentive server called Lauren. Very friendly staff and special thanks to the bar and lounge manager (Noli) who took time out to talk to us and took the kids to the dungeon to look for dinosaurs! Highly recommend it.
The staff was very attentive, and the food was delicious!
This is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous hotel. Everything is well appointed. The staff were very friendly and created an inviting atmosphere. The food was top notch and well presented. A tremendously enjoyable experience.
Amazing service. Great views and delicious food.
We have been fortunate to have the pleasure of after noon tea at Ashford twice in the past 4 months. If you are in Ireland this is an experience you cannot miss. If your lucky to get Stephen as your server, your day just became better.
Loved eating at the Drawing Room. We are here twice. The food was very fresh and tasty. My favorite was the honeycomb ice cream! It's a must!
Outstanding!!!! Pretty much says it all!
I have stayed in this lovely Castle/Hotel in the past, prior to their recent remodel & it was wonderful in all ways. Went back on this trip for my mother's 80th birthday, just for lunch on Sunday, as we were unable to get reservations for our entire party for a stay there this time. The lunch was outstanding, the staff, especially our waiter Donal was beyond compare in every way, he even arranged for another staff member named Michael to take us all on a little tour so that my 80 yr old mom in her wheelchair, along with my 86 yr old dad who were here in Ireland for the first time ever, could see the lovely Billiards room & even opened their little theater room & popped us some popcorn! My parents were so charmed & impressed with the entire experience! As were my siblings & I! Of course all of our food was absolutely delicious, from main courses to desserts (they were fabulous!!) & those of us that could, truly enjoyed walking the grounds a bit too! The view throughout our meal was lovely of the lake, lawn & fountain...everything was simply wonderful! I really love the remodeling that was done since the last time I visited, the blues hat they used in the drawing room are just beautiful!
food was outstanding, service was great and atmosphere was cozy
it was Quali-Tea!
Gorgeous setting, delicious food and impeccable service, what more could one ask for? I would like to add that the value for the meal is worth it, given the location and the fact that meals in Ireland tend to be pricey anywhere. Personally, I rather spend my money at Ashford Castle (and then enjoy the beautiful grounds), than waste it at an overpriced pub serving $25 entrees. You will not be disappointed. Do make sure you make reservations ! And allocate enough time to walk around the gardens.
Lovely decor and ambiance. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was very good although my main course of ravioli could have been a little hotter . the waiter told us about the quiet man house on the grounds and we even got a lift down in a golf buggy for a visit . food 4star, service 5star.
The tables are unsuitable for eating a dinner - we could not put our legs under ours. Service was slow - we were nearly 30 mins seated before we got to look at a menu, and it wasn't busy.
The ravoli portion was extremely small- we had to order extra food to compensate (the portion of chips were tiny). The honeycomb ice cream dessert was also disappointing.
The 15% service charge was excessive for daytime dining.
Donal, our waiter, was excellent though. He had lots of local knowledge, which interested us.
Beautiful views from the garden and Castle. Attentive service and delicious food.
I RECOMEND EVERYBODY VISIT ASHFORD CASTLE TO SPENT A WONDERFUL TIME, BECAUSE IT IS AN AMAZING PLACE WHERE YOU CAN HAVE LUNCH, HAVE DINNER, HAVE A COFFE OR TEA, IN THE DIFFERENTS BEAUTIFUL ROOMS. IF YOU WANT YOU CAN SLEEP TOO!!
I HAD BEEN WITH MY FRIENDS TO CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY AND WE ENJOYED A LOT!!!
THANK YOU FOR ALL!! I WILL COME BACK!!!
The Drawing room is outside the lavish George room. It has windows on 2 sides that look out upon the castle garden/backyard and river. The meal price was comparable to anything you'd find in Ireland.
The Service was ok but they made up for it to bring it from fair to good. Due to some mix-up in the kitchen, our simple sandwich order took 25 minutes. Staff management was professional and immediately tried to provide us extra drinks to compensate for the delay and was extremely apologetic. An odd stumble in their otherwise perfect and warm service. Perfectly forgivable as everything in the castle is presented and executed flawlessly.
If you find yourself in the west of Ireland, you must stop at Ashford Castle for an overnight stay or at the very least a first class dining experience. The staff is excellent, the food exquisite and the Castle is truly magical.
We were Visiting family in Ireland and we wanted to take my elderly mother out for a special treat. As soon as we drove onto the grounds of Ashford Castle we felt like royalty. The doorman welcomed us to the castle and brought us inside. We were escorted to the Drawing Room where our table had been reserved. We were offered both menus...high tea and lunch. Our preference was the lunch menu. Our server was a wonderful friendly young man who was very knowledgeable about the castle and the area. We ordered the bacon club sandwiches.Lunch was delicious and it was a nice size portion. There were approx 6 other tables occupied . I would suggest a little background music as the quietness was a little uncomfortable especially since we couldn't whisper as my elderly mother is a little hard on hearing!!! After lunch we were allowed to stroll around the hotel and learn a lot about the castle through various art paintings , sculptures and the wonderful library upstairs. The staff as a whole are wonderful. Extremely friendly and helpful. On numerous occasions the staff offered to take a group picture for us. I would highly recommend Ashford Castle to my friends and family and we have discussed coming back to stay a night over the summer.
beautiful surroundings great service food good will be back
The whole place was very well cared for. From the entrance at the front gate to where ever it is we walked to in around the castle, the place was like perfect. Entering the premises was like entering into a different world from the past. You are greet by guards in these cool uniforms. And there are a lot of fun activities to do there. We had lunch in the Drawing Room and it was very beautiful. The staff were very nice in there and surprised us with a cake for our anniversary there.
The negative part of the visit was that it's not a wheelchair or stroller-friendly place. We found a ramp and for our stroller to get into the building, but that was still a bit difficult to use.
Overall, an amazing place to bring your special half.
