About this restaurant

  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Hot spot
  • Good for special occasions
Brian Dunsmoor’s namesake restaurant, Dunsmoor, is the latest iteration of his ongoing exploration of American heritage cooking. It is, first and foremost, a restaurant for the community that surrounds it, and a loving expression of the relentless research that has informed his cooking for the last ten years.

We offer the full menu at tables in our dining room and at the chef's counter. Reservations are recommended but we make every effort to accommodate walk-ins when possible.

Dunsmoor's wine bar, accessible either through the restaurant or via its own door on Ave 35, does not accept reservations and serves a limited menu of our raw and larder items.

From the OpenTable editors: Few chefs can work a hearth like Brian Dunsmoor, who cut his teeth at Southern star Hatchet Hall before opening his namesake restaurant in 2022. The long tables adorned with flickering candles make the restaurant an ideal place for a date, as do fiery dishes like wood-roasted oysters and mushroom-crusted pork chops. The cornbread, slathered in cultured butter, is the stuff of dreams.

There’s something about restaurants like this that remind me why I fell in love with LA. Warm lighting. Fire-driven cooking. Conversations that somehow last longer than expected. The kind of dinner where nobody is checking their phone because everyone’s too busy enjoying the moment. Dunsmoor has been on my list for a while, and now I finally understand why people keep talking about it. Not every restaurant needs to scream for attention. Some places just quietly become unforgettable. 📍Dunsmoor — 3501 N Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90065 Save this for your next dinner spot in LA ✨ #glassellpark #laeats #losangelesfood #lafoodie #lafoodies

A look at the chefs counter at Dunsmoor. This restaurant did not disappoint. Great wine, amazing cornbread, fresh handmade house made tortillas and the best pork chop I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back. #fyp #fypage #restaurant #larestaurant

Making reservation was the most challenging part of this experience. Once you get there and experience the food, you then realize it was worth the wait. Great food, great service, and very attentive staff. Tamara at the reception desk is a great asset to the restaurant who welcomes you with her warm smile.

After trying to book a table that's not at 5pm or 9pm, we were finally able to check out this much hyped and equally anticipated open wood fire dining experience. As I'm sure everyone has seen, this place is a hipster's dream meet practically refined rustic space anchored by a hypnotic hearth where towering logs crackle and feral flames roar in a masonry furnace. We tried to get as many things as possible. The Comté cheese plate was so transcendent we’re legally plagiarizing it for our own charcuterie board. The Carolina Rice eats like a velvety risotto, grounding the table. The much-celebrated cornbread sweats under the weight of the mound of honey as much as it did from the hype pressure. The mizuna + chicory salad is a neurotic intellectual in a black turtleneck, psychoanalyzing its bitter-creamy duality. The super creamy cheddar-chive potatoes is unbelievably worth the 40 point cholesterol hike. Japanese yams that you saw on the way in on top of the coals are amazingly smoky and sweet, while the "braised" green beans confuse you w its crunchy snap. But the pork chop... ribeye on fire is dime a doz. Good pork chop on open flame takes not only quality, but also skill and patience. Bluefin tuna toast - well, undoubtedly that blue fin was top grade. But it felt a little like using wagyu for meatloaf, Jidori chicken for orange chicken, or Ibérico pork to make Spam. Don't get me wrong, I love a good meatloaf, I still only get one thing at Panda, and I can eat a spam musubi 3x per day. Sure, the Bulls won 6 rings, but MJ didn't need all 4 teammates to score big. Delicious? Yes. A bit heavy handed? IMHO, also yes. With that said about the food, what truly puts the entire experience over the top, the undisputed crowning element, 100% without an ounce of doubt was the staff. Every staff member operated with a preternatural grace and razor-sharp competence straight from an elite hospitality finishing school. I'd return, but its popularity probably wdn't let me.

Dunsmoor has become our favorite restaurant for special occasions. Customer service is outstanding and the staff is amazing and welcoming! As for the food, it is absolutely delicious and consistent. Our favorite is the mushroom crusted pork chop and infamous cornbread. Our waitress Hatie (sorry if i misspelled) was great, ensured we had everything we needed for a celebratory wedding anniversary dinner (33 years), thanks Hatie!!! We got the best seats in the house, at the count, in front of fireplace where they cook, I love this view!!! Looking forward to see you all again soon...
