Elephant & Castle Prince Street opened in Lower Manhattan in ’73 across from St Vincent’s Hospital where George had worked as an oncologist since the 1950’s. After two decades of short lunch breaks where he could never get anything he wanted to eat, finally he retired to a life of eating everything he wanted to eat, in his own restaurant with a special name. His passion and obsession for quality was infectious and E&C became a New York classic within a few years. Doors opened in a very different and quiet Temple Bar in January 1989 and by Summer of that year the queues had already started for our fantastic food and spectacular atmosphere!
Outside the world has greatly changed, but inside our swinging doors we try to keep things just the way they were.

    Energetic noise level doesn’t even cut it the noise was excessive!!!! Music was way too loud couldn’t even hear the waiter let alone have a conversation between ourselves! My son sat with his hands covering his ears most of the meal couldn’t wait to just eat and leave to be honest! Husband had a burger which half of was slopped onto the plate chips were over cooked ! Wings were ok ! Waiter was very pleasant when we could hear him over the music !

    Nice place at Fleet Street, close to Temple Bar, with an amazing service (Spanish waiter was absolutely helpful and kind). Chicken wings are the most known dish, spicy but not so much.

    Had a lovely meal here saturday 1st Dec 2023. It was hectic in there although it was first Friday of party season so it's to be expected. Food was excellent if a bit slow arriving but staff did their best. Would definitely go back.

    My son was home from Scotland so booked the Elephant & Castle for lunch Our server was brilliant , fun , efficient and helpful Starter of wings, very tasty , my husband had seafood pasta I had fish & chips also good , my son had the chicken served with noodles , very disappointing , chicken was dry and over done but in fairness we were not charged for it , I’ll def be returning but I’ll skip the chicken

    Service was good, but food could be better for the price charged. Wings was a bit dry then I asked extra hot sauce and it was OK. The steak was overcooked, peppercorn sauce doesn't taste like that and overall too pricey for a not good quality of food.

    It had been a long time since last visit to E&C Temple Bar.l Son wanted to go for his birthday treat & we weren't disappointed. We all had the wings, as good as ever, tasty without being too hot and good sized portions. Deserts of Brownie & Sundae were delicious also. Love the fact that they give free refill on soft drinks. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly. Cost was reasonable by todays standards - 3 wings, 2 fries, 2 Deserts, 3 drinks & unlimited water €91. Would recommend if in Dublin, nice atmosphere & tasty food.

    Really enjoyable. Great service, pity I didn't catch the ladies name. Had the wings, and my partner had the salmon, she's particular with her food and said it was the second time she had come to Elephant & Castle and had seafood and was blown away by how good it was.

    Having had a good experience previously we went to Elephant and Castle for brunch and were disappointed on a number of levels. The portion sizes seemed smaller. My son’s Full Irish breakfast was particularly disappointing and my husbands avocado on toast was thinly spread. The cappuccino was milky coffee with some froth on the top. The staff did their job but added nothing to the experience. The music was loud and too lively for a relaxing Sunday brunch. The prices were high for what we got and our overall experience. We will go somewhere else next time

    Food was lovely my group had wings and ribs for starters to share. Lovely flavour off wings and ribs were melt in mouth. I had cheese and bacon burger it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and we had great craic with our server. Had a very enjoyable night I booked to go back in Dec

    The wings were recommended and was awesome! I ordered an appetizer since it was the only vegetarian option available. Still good. Had a side of greens in garlic butter, yum! Had a martini and a Guinness, can’t go wrong. Dessert was decadent! Chocolate ice cream, fudge sauce and raspberry compote. Service was a little slow but still worth going.

    Wings where dreadful, and that’s what they renowned for , friends of ours there the same day and had the same experience wings and burger where awful … pity as it use to be good won’t be back for a long time now 😞

    While overall our experience was positive. One issue was that food was at best warm when it arrived. As we were in a hurry and the restaurant was busy we didn't complain. However it will affect our decision to return.

    Very surprised that the menu didn’t have a vegetarian breakfast. Eggs is an option but a full veggie would have been good.

    Wings were just delicious. We had fish and chips. Fish was beautiful.. I wasn't mad on the chips but that's just personal choice my husband loved them. Very well ran. Service was fantastic. Love the fact you don't have to ask for water like you do most places now. Very good value and the coffee was excellent. Overall it was great

    Booked beforehand & was placed at a table for two. Found the benches a bit hard. Service was very efficient although a one point a huddle of three staff had a conversation regarding another customer, not professional. Fish & chips was excellent although not fussed with the cold pea purree. All in all enjoyed our meal.

    A simple but good option to have lunch or dinner in Temple Bar. The sandwiches were very good and the kids menu very helpfull for us, as we were travelling with our 6 years old son.
