Elephant & Castle Prince Street opened in Lower Manhattan in ’73 across from St Vincent’s Hospital where George had worked as an oncologist since the 1950’s. After two decades of short lunch breaks where he could never get anything he wanted to eat, finally he retired to a life of eating everything he wanted to eat, in his own restaurant with a special name. His passion and obsession for quality was infectious and E&C became a New York classic within a few years. Doors opened in a very different and quiet Temple Bar in January 1989 and by Summer of that year the queues had already started for our fantastic food and spectacular atmosphere!
Outside the world has greatly changed, but inside our swinging doors we try to keep things just the way they were.

    Food was ok, the wings were bigger than it was in the past, but the sauce is milder which was disappointing. Service was not good. The server was rude and angry from the beginning. She's probably having a bad day, because if that's her attitude then maybe do another job. Very unpleasant.

    Our friends were late, due to a flight delay. The staff were so patient and left us some space to simply enjoy our drinks whilst we waited for them. They sat us in a lovely window seat and when they did arrive, the staff were very attentive and looked after us. The food was delicious.

    Slightly overpriced. But not unexpected considering their location. Had the risotto special and it was very bland. Server did not check on us or ask if everything was OK.

    First of all, the most important, thank you very much for the smile and the kindness of the waitress. On the other hand, we have to say that the meal wasn't very great. The avocado was really too ripe, its color was rather grey than green. The hamburger was rather dry too. For us, despite the amazing area, the food in this restaurant doesn't belong to the best restaurants in Dublin. Sorry

    Stopped in for breakfast during a very busy time (notre dame/navy game weekend). The food was fairly basic breakfast fare, but very enjoyable. The wait staff was kind and friendly. It was easy to get a reservation and the prices were very reasonable!

    Haven’t eaten in E&C in a number of years and it was still as good as I remember. Food was great and excellent service. It was very busy but you never felt either rushed or waiting for service. All the staff were excellent. Overall a very enjoyable meal

    Great food ( wings are to die for ), great atmosphere and the most friendly staff. I’ve been a few times and it never disappoints, lovely for a nice treat. It’s usually very busy so I would recommend booking ahead of arrival. Will most definitely be back soon !!

    I’ve been to Dublin over 20 times and always come my chicken wings at the E&C! The burgers, fries and margaritas are pretty awesome too. I’ll be back next time :)

    Always go to Elephant and Castle in Temple Bar but was very disappointed with our visit on Saturday 13 August, wings were burnt and dry and service was very bad. Don't think we will be rushing back.

    Absolutetly disgraceful..my partner ordered an omellette came out with a hair on plate my burger was ice cold and thrown together..ice cold chips...they say presentaion is everything...the staff in this place need to learn thia phrase..absolutele disgraceful..il never set foot back into a place i use to love..

    Always a great place to eat best chicken wings in Dublin. Service away fast and friendly just what we needed as this was our pre concert dinner. Can holing recommend Elephant and Castle Temple Bar. Just be sure to make a reservation otherwise you might not get a table.
