Ely Wine Bar
Opened in 1999 Ely has been recognised as Ireland’s leading wine bar from the start, continuously awarded best wine bar with Wine Spectator recognising it for Best of Award of Excellence in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 saying "This restaurant is honored by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.” And The Sunday Business Post awarding it Best Wine Bar in Ireland 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 saying "Ely is the class-leading, category-defining exemplar. A superb food offering to match every wine on the extensive and adventurous wine list..."
Not content with sourcing some of the world’s best wines Ely also takes food provenance and seasonality very seriously, sourcing their grass-fed organic beef and pork from their own family farm in the Burren along the Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland’s west coast.

Good atmosphere. Bit noisy at first but fine once the group table left. Not suitable for a quiet meal out.
Another lovely evening at Ely. Good mix of people at the bar and diners. Nice buzz, food excellent.
Food was mediocre and extremely limited choice. I ordered the lamb (unfortunately duck was off the menu) and it was utterly tasteless. All four of us chose differently but we were all equally unimpressed. The noise levels in the restaurant made conversation at our table difficult. I remembered frequenting this place years back when food was delicious and it had a good ambience. I won't be rushing back.
Good wine list is about all it has going for it.
Nice food, wine and staff (as always) - however it is incredibly noisy.
food was amazing and our host was very friendly and attentive. would highly recommend the steaks
Extensive wine menu, food was really good. Personally I don’t feel Ely has evolved with the times in their wine selection, but a good option for a wine on the go to catch up with friends. Seems to attract crowd 40+
Made very welcome coming in from a downpour. Started with glasses of wine- wide choice, quality, and helpful advice. Both enjoyed very tasty cod main course. Desserts: poached pear and hazelnut/chocolate tart. Delicious. Most enjoyable oberall.
Enjoyable for an office lunch - food was delicious! Will be back again next week with international visitors.
Love this restaurant, main courses were really ta stylish and cheese board was excellent. Great atmosphere
Great lunch, and good value. Wine pairing excellent. Staff very friendly and helpfull
we will be back again.
Overall a very good experience with very good service and food. However we did find the layout a bit cramped which meant we struggled to hear each other due to the noise at tables either side of us.
Great service. Andre the waiter that served us was great. He recommended great wine and desert wines:) And he shared great knowledge of the wines we were drinking.
The best dinner we had in Dublin. Waiter was very service oriented. Kitchen was very accommodating to dietary requirements
Excellent locally sourced food, prepared with care and pride. Extensive, reasonably-prized wine list. Service with a smile and a wink. Plus the early bird dinner is a fabulous value.
Highly recommended, well worth the accolades.
Lovely spot. Very central. Delightful service. Quiet dining area upstairs with completely different ambience in the basement (lively and bustling atmosphere) for pre / after-dinner drinks. Very enjoyable!
Great food and good wines - good location
Would recommend this bar
The dining experience at Ely was exquisite. Chef Val is really talented and the dishes he prepares are very well balanced. For a truly great experience I recommend the place. The Chef's chocolate tart is just out of this world
We were traveling and I made this reservation after carefully checking the location and the menu and reading reviews. The restaurant was closing their lunch service for the day but they graciously accommodated the four of us. We ordered salads, main dishes and sandwiches and all were flavorful and of excellent quality. They also have an extensive wine list by the glass. Highly recommend. We will try the dinner menu next time!
Great for wine lovers, sharing platters are very tastefull. Waitresses are very frindly, would def recommend it
We live in the US and stumbled on Ely Wine Bar in Spring of 2017. We were lucky to be back in Dublin recently and very happy to be able to return for another great experience. Sadly, no lamb on the menu this time but great wine and good food.
The halibut was excellent - so well cooked and tasty. The lamb special was very good but the lamb could have been slightly more done. The cheese board with port tasting was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter was also very nice and attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Great food; great company; great service and impressive wine list.
Food was very good. Great wine list. Staff were excellent.
Great service, excellent food, lovely location. Table was a bit too close to neighbor therefore a little loud, portions could have been a little bigger.
This restaurant was an absolute surprise. Everything was delicious. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and wine. Absolutely loved it!
Delighted I could order a good vegan main course here and delicious chick pea and polenta fries. However there was only one choice so a few more options would be nice next time
- good people
- didn’t have the wine
- offered a special , ordered it, then didn’t have it, but weird
- cool venue
- wine list (if it’s in stock ) it’s pretty good
- it’s a nice spot
Stock the wine 😉
Food and Service outstanding. Venue not as good, but still good
Great atmosphere - staff and Baj were wonderful. Everything was great. I’d recommend the lamb which was on special. Wine recomendación great as well.
Great meal recommended by wine tour guide Suzy. Food was great and wine was incredible. Great choices, great service, etc. We had trout and steak and both were great. Dessert was superlicious!!
Thanks for great evening.
Great restaurant. Very tasty food and delicious wines. It's been a favourite for some time. Always so well looked after by Andre and Babs who are such smiley friendly people . Love it!!
Very good evening, good food and attentive service.... interesting menu offering Duck and beef Wellington in August? Otherwise really pleasant evening and fab choice of Rose from Bordeaux!
We love this wine bar for it’s great range of wine and the knowledge they have with their wine list. Dan was exceptional and always recommends the right wine. All you need to do is let him no what you are looking for and, just like magic you have a great wine in front of you with the correct stemware.
Seriously, this is a great place for enjoying the wine;rood and ambiance.
The staff are all friendly which adds to the whole experience.
Each time we visit Dublin we ensure we eat & drink here at least once.andy
Comida con sabores interesantes y familiares a la vez
Nice combo for food and wine. Ambiance is cool. Definite repeat
Just excellent night. Great service. Genuine friendly. Lovely food/drink and super atmosphere created.
We celebrated friends birthday there with group of friends, very nice place, food was delicious, love everything!
We had a very nice evening with great food and service.
Great wines, delicious food and outstanding service in a beautiful building. What more do you need. Highly recommended.
