The food is astounding, consistently - a surprising mixture of flavors and textures making each dish fun to explore. The only negative last night was the server was a little indifferent.
Sunday brunch tasting menu was phenomenal. Great variety of tastes and nice portion sizes. We felt a tad but rushed because the food was coming out so quickly. One item on the tasting menu was not brought out. However, we were so satisfied with all the other options, the extra item was not necessary. Definitely will be one of our top choices in DC.
The food, as always, was excellent and the service was wonderful. The ambiance is lovely, but the vegan brunch is certainly a bit over priced. Pre-covid, when they offered the buffet style brunch and there were so many more options, the $40price tag was more justified, but paying that much money for a preset menu (even if you can order as much as you want) of vegies and vegan proteins is excessive. I would maybe pay $20-$25. If Equinox does not return to the buffet style brunch or lower their price, I do not think I will be returning in the future on Sundays.
Our dinner was excellent! We sat on the outdoor patio, which was very pleasant. My son and I had the PB zuchinni blossom tempura and corn salad dish for appetizers which we both loved. My husband had the bass dinner that he said was quite good. I had the crispy soft shelled crab and spinach tagliotini which also had numerous pieces of oishii shrimp in it. I had never had oishii shrimp and I really liked it. This dish was excellent. And our son had the PB and GF sweet potato and cauliflower curry, which he really enjoyed
All servings were quite generous. We have been here a number of times and I think I enjoyed the food this time the most. The service, also, was spot on!
Great place to celebrate or just have a great meal.
Food arrived barely warm. My octopus was very chevy. It just wasn't very good food. Mediocre at best. None of other guests complimented the food.
Chocolate Bundt cake was dry.
Nobody said happy birthday despite the fact that it was indicated in the reservation, no candle either.
Kitchen relies on adding cream to everything to make it taste better instead of developing other flavors.
Look for another place for your event.
Not worse it.
waiter was very confused, forgot an item, timed the courses wrong. food was tasty but way overpriced
During the pandemic, the take out food from Equinox has been excellent, so to celebrate going out again, we had dinner there last Friday. Two in our group ordered the same fish dish. One was excellent, the other smelled and tasted fishy. Our guest only had two bites and could not eat it. One of the things I really like about Equinox are the plant based choices, unusual and flavorful, not just pasta and veggies. MIstakenly, I decided to try the pasta in morel sauce, though. It lacked any flavor at all, even salt could not bring it back to edible, it was a bowl of flavorless pasta with flavorless mushrooms underneath. When our bill for $300 came, I wished I had stayed home and ordered a pizza. Our starters though, the fritters and the asparagus fries, were excellent.
Excellent food and service. Please bring back regular menus so we can disconnect from electronics during dinner! But this is just a minor quibble relative to quality of food and experience.
It was our 4th anniversary celebration and thank to everyone who is working in there// One of our best day
We absolutely loved our dinner at Equinox! The food was AMAZING. As a vegan, I appreciated how the plant-based options were thoughtful, delicious, and intentional. Most restaurants think of plant based options on the menu as an after thought, Equinox did not. Our food was a work of art! The service was wonderful as well (very attentive, kind, and personal). And the ambience is spectacular — love all the greenery and plant life!
The vegan brunch is absolutely delicious. Expensive, but SO worth it. This place is a staple for special occasions and whenever you just want to do something a little fancy.
The food was amazing, the space was beautiful, and the staff was super friendly.
The Weekend plant based brunch is a great option to take your vegan friends. I think overall it’s a little pricey for what you get. Skip the 35 dollar bottle of Prosecco/Mimosa but enjoy that pasta dish on the set menu. Yum! Staff was awesome :)
The gasapacho and the fried artichokes were great. The soft shell crab was very good. Meeting Todd was a great experience also. But the service was very poor which really affected the first time experience.
Great special occasion dinner. Great vegan tasting menu. Can't wait to go back. Wait staff seemed a tiny bit understaffed. However, wait staff and kitchen staff worked their tails off. Fantastic experience. Thank you for helping us enjoy a perfect evening.
one of us is vegan one of us doing keto. both had delicious meals. sat outside on a warm and lovely night. really wish there were more first-class vegan possibilities like this in DC
Todd Gray has emerged from the pandemic with a menu and style at the top of his game. We had crab, octopus, zucchini flowers, pasta and artichoke. All great. Staff works hard. Bartender superb
It's nice to find upscale restaurants that have vegan options, and Equinox does. The food we ate was good and in good portions for the price. The problem is that they overcharged on two items, one of the appetizers, and one of the drinks (they charged $2 more over the menu price, plus an additional $2 upcharge for premium liquor that my boyfriend did not ask for). When we contacted them to let them know of the erroneous charge they said they would fix the overcharge on the food, but refused to listen to our issue with the overcharge on the drink, apparently not understanding that there was a $2 overcharge on the base in addition to the $2 upgrade fee.
Given this issue of overcharging and their discourtesy when we try to fix it, I'm not inclined to go back.
Went because of the many vegan options for my daughter. Food was just okay and very limited menu. We did have very good service though.
Fantastic selection for groups that have vegans. Even the carnivores in our group enjoyed the food. If all plan based food tasted like this I'd be able to go vegan myself.
Delicious vegan brunch with great service! Surprised at $6.00 per person for still water.
Amazing food. Great service!. Loved the pre fixed plant based menu
Delectable 8 course tasting brunch , plant based , you won’t miss eggs or meat. The gazpacho and cauliflower shawarma were standouts.
What a disappointment. We have eaten here for years. Tonight was just blah and unacceptable. Our sea bass as cold and underseasoned. The pasta was overcooked and underseasoned. The wine was boring. No more amuse boushe. No real bread choices. Dessert for a special occasion needed salt and sugar
Tres boring. Not worth the money
Server was great. Food was delicious. The menu was out of date and the fritters came our cold. But otherwise great experience and loved the cauliflower curry. They make great vegan foods!
We loved our experience at Equinox. As a vegan, it can be very difficult finding great fine dine food with a wonderful experience and that is what Equinox provided. We had the 8 course plant based brunch and we liked all but one salad option. We loved that there were many healthy options as part of the 8 courses. Because vegan and healthy are not one in the same. The service was amazing and ambiance was nice. We did think the cava for mimosas was a little on the pricey side at $35. Even with that, we enjoyed every moment. Will absolutely return!!
Equinox Vegan brunch tastings was so delicious! Staff was nice and accommodating, great ambience, and incredible experience. Highly recommend!
We loved this! We definitely miss the buffet and hope it comes back soon but, in the meantime, we like what they’ve done with the brunch!
Very good food. Service was a little slow. Went for a business meal and was nice ambience and quiet enough for it.
Not worth the cost. We did the tasting menu and wine paring. The service was fantastic and the ambience was nice. The food was sub par. The octopus was chewy and the other courses were bland. The only thing I enjoyed was the soft shell crab. I’m not sure if the normal menu is better but I would not recommend the tasting menu for the cost.
We came for brunch and we loved it. My sisters were hesitant when I told them we eating Plant based food for brunch but in the end they lived it. Great food, great service. Will definitely be back.
Serviceable fine dining experience with some interesting choices on menu; however, handful of apps and entrees were poorly executed and a huge miss.
All pasta dishes were severely under seasoned: farfalle, truffle Mac, and tagliatelle. But the proteins themselves (sea bass and soft shell crab) were expertly prepared and tasted incredible. Happy to see octopus on entrees list, but again, execution fell short. Tough bite with zero char or flavor. Desserts went 2 for 4, with the most comically bad bite of the evening going to a blueberry “cheesecake,” which was the oddest consistency of coconut cream faux cheesecake that can only be likened to wallpaper paste.
Meal was saved by great cocktails, company, and a bottle of Veuve and stellar burgundy.
With such exceptional restaurants in DC, it would be hard to recommend this spot to friends, and even with that aside, the work here is far too inconsistent to push their price point. Overall, I will say that the experience was bad in just the right way. Plenty of hits (crispy artichokes and sea bass for the win) mixed with some laughably terrible bites to really keep the convo going.
Chef Gray and his team continue to excel in their presentation of creative dishes for diverse tastes. I am partial to the plant-based offerings, which are flavorful and sit nicely with traditional dinner offerings. The restaurant continues to do a fantastic job helping diners feel safe and comfortable as we work our way out of the pandemic.
Always delicious and beautiful food, prepared with care and attention to detail. The staff could not be friendlier, more accommodating, or more attentive. We go once a month and love the entire experience.
Flavors were very bland. Not so great
Enjoyed talking with the Owner/Chef. Staff were great. Food was good. Overall very enjoyable experience!
We had the beet / asparagus salad, soft shell crabs with pasta, and raspberry cheesecake. All were excellent. The bartender is also very good if you have specific mixed drink requests (mojitos!). To me, in the same category as Marcels, Annabelle, and Fiola Mare.
My party of three sat on the terrace next to a heat lamp, very comfortable for late spring. Our table was uneven, however, and a little rickety. The service was excellence and the food was very good. I have been coming to Equinox for years and enjoy it, but it seemed slightly shabbier this time around.
We loved the restaurant and the outdoor setting except for the party of 4 seated near us that were so loud it took away from our mood and ability to have any sort of meaningful conversation.
