   We spent the evening to celebrate my fiancés birthday and the service was nothing short of amazing. The food was perfection, the staff was friendly and recommended a red blend that we both enjoyed! We will be back!

   I brought my husband there for his first time and he absolutely loved it! We shared 3 dishes, although we could have had 2. The food was amazing! We're foodies..snobs as you could say. We had an eggplant app and my husband just ate it till the end, I loved it too. Then a mushroom Flatbread that we loved as well. We could/should stopped there but nooo, had to order the octopus, which I liked very much. It was very good but the weakest of the 3. All 3 dishes were really good, we were just stuffed. Really good restaurant, make sure you go when you're uptown. Enjoy!

   Did not enjoy our time at Essex at all. Was not greeted right away in a friendly manner. My friend and I both found our Waiter to be rude. Lunch menu is not offered on the weekends, but that was never mentioned on their website. My friends salad was barely eatable and my shrimp and grits were drowned in so much sauce, you couldn't taste the grits. My Bloody Mary was very good and the location to Blumenthal was convenient. I much prefer Aria and Ri Ra over this restaurant and will dine at one of those the next time I'm in town for a show.

   We were a group of four dining. We really enjoyed trying several different flavor profiles. Our favorites...the "eggplant carpaccio" was an amazingly unsual flavor, the bread that came with the Mediterranean dip trio was worth the carbs, the lamb chops are my 2nd favorite ever (after our friends homemade) and the bang bang grouper had beautifully balanced sweet/spicy. Honestly, nothing was bad. It was super fun to share all these wonderful dishes. We will be back.

   Food was excellent as always - love the churrasco! - with a warm and upbeat atmosphere. Our server got everything correct, and was courteous but seemed rushed or distracted when he did stop by.

    Perfect spot for dinner before a show at the Belk theater. Excellent service and an interesting menu (brand new cocktails too!) The fried cauliflower is amazing. My friend wanted to split the short rib flatbread and I agreed to make her happy because, for me, flatbreads are such a hit-and-miss! I'm glad I did: the dough was soft and fluffy, perfectly topped and cooked. The Brussels sprout salad is so different and delicious. I brought my leftover home and ended up heating it up for lunch the next day: it was even better warmer! Will definitely return to try different things. Maybe when it's a bit warmer and the patio seating is not as chilly:)

    Great uptown atmosphere for a casual sit-down lunch. Menu has something for everyone. Patio is a little tight space-wise but worth it to be outdoors and enjoying the weather.

    I wanted to like this place, but it had too many strikes against it. Firstly, it is very noisy; you can barely hear across the table and need to repeat things to the waitstaff. We were seated in a booth, which was comfortable, but the table was 4-6 inches too tall for the seats, so it felt odd like being a kid at the grown-up table. Although they have printed menus, they don't offer them to you unless you ask. You use a QR code to access an awkward pdf document, which was hard to navigate. The food was good, but our first drink order got lost, coming about 20 minutes later, after the appetizers were finished. Everyone is different, and some might view the overall experience as hip/chic, but for me it just felt unnecessarily pretentious.

    We ate at The Essex before attending the symphony. We started with the beet salad which was outstanding! We finished with the strawberry cheesecake. Our server was attentive even though he was very busy. My only complaint is the noise level. We had to speak loudly across the table. We go The Essex regularly, and we are never disappointed !

    We has short rib ravioli and poke tuna tacos that were delicious, our server,Rachel was great, she answerd all our questions and sure we had everything we needed, the food came out quickly and the drinks were good

    Both of the dishes that came out were undercooked, the waitress did fix the order but waiting on food then having to wait to fix it. Was not too fun, the food is also overpriced, I understand the upscale restaurant however the food is not good enough to fit the price. Staff was good, food was kinda meh compared to the other restaurants in similar price range.

    Used to be fun for tapas years ago not sure what’s with the current menu… tapas portions for entree prices. Automatic included gratuity for less than stellar service for a party of two was strange. Not on my list of places to go back.

    Very interesting menu, and well prepared. I had the bang bang grouper, which was quite good. Atmosphere was modern and quiet although we were there quite early so the restaurant was not near capacity.

    The prices on Open Table are not the prices on the menu. The actual menu is substantially higher. The food was good but not exceptional for the cost. The hanger steak was good. The prices on here need to be updated to reflect correctly. We would have chosen something else.

    To start, They have Free valet services when you get there before 10P, thus you won't have to drive around uptown searching for a parking and walk distances to get to the restaurant. You can then have peace of mind savoring their lamb or other dishes, as they take you around the world with their multitude choices. I loved the ambiance and the staffs there. If you are hungry, it is the right place to go; they don't make you wait. Anyway, don't sit close to the windows, it is hard to get in and out.

    I was pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. The appetizers did not appeal to me but when I received my meal, that put them on top for me. The salmon was cooked the way I wanted and the broccoli was grilled to perfection. Our server continued to check on us throughout our stay.

    The bill was not shown to us before taking payment then when we got a copy of bill noticed our food was higher priced than the menu attached to the QR code on table when we ordered. Additionally we got the exact same drink served in exact same glass three times. First two times that drink was $14, last time that one drink was $20. We had to argue with manager to get anything done and needless to say the whole experience was not a pleasant one it took forever to resolve. Never going back and plan to spread the word bc similar billing issue happened last time we were there they was a second and last time.
