About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for groups
  • Innovative
Falansai ("fuh-lan-sigh") is a Vietnamese-Mexican restaurant by chef Eric Tran located in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn. Just past historical warehouses and vintage clothing shops, you will discover the unique approach to elevated fusion where distinctive Vietnamese and Mexican flavors are artfully remixed with the best seasonal ingredients, while good vibes pulse in the background.

Explore our signature Super and Classic Dac Biet dinner menus or dive into some of our celebrated dishes from the A La Carte options.

Falansai was established in 2013, and reimagined in 2020. Henry Trieu originally opened Falansai in 2013 and named the restaurant for his father's pronunciation of the word "français." Henry closed the restaurant in early 2020 and sold it to Chef Eric Tran. Falansai "2.0" was reimagined in November of 2020. As a Vietnamese-Mexican and American from Chi-Town (and now New Yorker), diners can expect the unexpected from Eric's cooking.

Had a wonderful dinner here while celebrating our anniversary with my wife! We enjoyed the prix fixe menu, and the wine pairing was both comprehensive and explained with care. The food was excellent, and the overall experience made the evening truly special. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Beautiful and deliberate atmosphere. The service was excellent. Simple menu. Location is a bit away from it all but it’s worth a taste.

You should go to Falansai! Super Dac Biet is the best deal in Brooklyn. For under $100 you can get a beautiful seasonal chef's menu that is delicious, filling, and unique. The fish sauce/hot sauce thing is essentially ambrosia and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually did make me immortal. The servers are all friendly and knowledgeable, and the vibes in the restaurant are excellent; it's like hanging out in your best-traveled friend's living room and listening to records. Great for a special occasion without feeling like you're mortgaging an organ to enjoy the finer things in life.

We were looking to eat Vietnamese around the neighborhood and this place showed up in our search so we decided to give it a try. When we entered, we were immediately greeted and seated. The menu was little confusing and there were not much selections compared to authentic Vietnamese restaurant. We all tried the Dac Biet, which is one the course meal. It started off with cucumber, Vietnamese Tamales and Papaya Vermicelli Salad. They all came out family style so we all share the plate which is fine. However, the Vermicelli was all stuck together so it was very hard to separate and share. It reminded me of the Soba that was served on planes. Tamales itself was flavorless. You have to put ton of sauce that came with it. We had Honey-Glazed Pork and Black Sea Bass for main course. Sea Bass was pretty good. My Pork was over charred, almost burnt. It was served with seasonal soup which was super salty. The dessert was our favorite. Everyone there were super friendly and nice and professional. However, our server was too friendly that she kept using the "F" word. As soon as we sat down and started the conversation, she shot us with an "F" word as an adjective to describe how much she agreed with whatever we said. Ok. We thought maybe she was trying to make us feel like friends and comfortable talking to her. But we don't talk like that. Almost every time she walks to our table, she would add an "F" word which kind a vitiating. I've never had anyone speaking like that in a restaurant, not even if we know that person.

Confusing menu with very limited options. I don’t get why this place keeps changing concepts but keeping the name. This place was best as a simple neighborhood a la carte eatery.

Awesome service, large portions for Dac Biet prefix, and lovely atmosphere. Not necessarily the best viet food in the world but a very solid neighborhood option that hits the craving when you want something

I saw great reviews for this restaurant and wanted to give it a try for is Viet Mexican fusion. The service was nice but the food was not very good. My partner and I ordered the dac biet tasting. The appetizers were ok, they were egg rolls, a vermicelli salad, and a gluten free tostada type app for my partner. I ordered the sea bass and my partner ordered the grilled meat skewers. The sea bass was very plain and straightforward, just like any other grilled fish without much seasoning or any other tastes other than the sea bass. The meat skewers were just ok, nothing amazing or flavorful about them. The rice that came with the dishes with the herbs and spices on it didn't really make it any better. I feel that the restaurant was very hyped and underwhelming. It didn't seem like it did Vietnamese cuisine well or Mexican and I would have rather gone to a traditional Vietnamese restaurant.
