FIRE Restaurant and Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was excellent and the waitress on our table was brilliant. (We were sitting on the left hand side at the 2nd table against the wall just at the stairs). Waitress recommended the cocktail and brought my girlfriend a special dessert for her birthday without any prompting.
We really enjoyed our evening, although slightly disappointed that we automatically received the set menu, and not the a la carte. As we were a group, we thought that due to this, we could not order from this menu, but had to stick to the set menu. Later transpired that was not the case. Food though, was very good.
We had dinner here on a Saturday evening. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were shown to a 4 table room on the other side of the corridor from the main restaurant. In one way this was fine as it was quieter but on the other it lacked atmosphere. The waiter immediately offered mineral water, I like if they include a jug of tap water for choice but here they didn't.
A board of bread came swiftly and was delicious. I had French onion soup which was delicious, my husband had prawns, also good. For mains I had chicken which was fine and my husband had lamb, cooked perfectly. My husband ordered a side of vegetables which were very good. We didn't have desserts or coffees as we were going on to another function. We washed it down with a delicious white wine from New Zealand and the aforementioned mineral water. One word of warning when ordering sides, my husband ordered vegetables but I didn't and when we got the bill we realised it was a double portion we had been given. (I thought it was generous). All in all a good dining experience and I would go back.
Attending show with my mother in law on Sat, we always go to Fire and always avail of pre-theatre menu, always book for 5 pm, very disappointed we could not avail of pre-theatre menu this time, booked for 5 pm again, not communicated at time of booking that this did not apply, traffic very busy 10 minutes late, explained predicament but to no avail. Love Fire but was not impressed with strict application, needs to be pointed out at time of booking, wrong call from customer service perspective in my view.
Everything was great except for the location of the table we were seated at, anytime someone walked by they hit off our table causing our cocktails to be spilt (which are not cheap). We were right at the top of the room near the coat racks so there was a constant flow of people, I do not think the table was placed well. We tried to move the table but the space was so cramped it did not make a difference.
Food was like a typical Sunday carvery... beef was tough and chewy. 10% service charge unnecessary. Roast potatoes were not as described... they were in fact dried up bland and tasteless as was the veg. Not worth the money. However it was a beautiful place and the staff were superb.
Service was extremely slow. One waiter kept coming back to see if we had gotten our drinks which we hadn't. Food wa s tasty when it arrived. However, I had literally put my cutlery down & was still chewing my last mouthful when my plate was taken from me. It was a disappointing experience as had dined there previously & enjoyed it.
The place is amazing, perfect for a special occasion. The food was on point & our waiter was really friendly & tolerated the large group throughout. Was just a little bit disturbed that we had to wait for almost 30 minutes to be seated but atleast the entertainment downstairs made up for it so overall, we had a great night! Would definitely go again, hopefully without any downsides!!
As you read this, keep in mind that I am not one to complain and especially in a European City as great as Dublin, pretty easy to please. However, despite an incredible “Room” that is this place, and food that was just “OK” (but pretty good), the rest was underwhelming. This is a large room with many working people in it, none of whom looked happy and all of whom looked really stressed. The place was packed on the Saturday night we were there and staff seemed determined to get us in and out as quickly as possible. The waiter that took our order “insisted” that we order dessert when we ordered apps and entrees after which we NEVER spoke with him again. No “how is your meal” or “can I get you another glass of wine” here, unless you stick your leg out to trip someone. Others around us were similarly ignored. Dublin has some incredible restaurants with both incredible food and service so this is one that you should just drop by during the day; take a picture of the room, and eat in one of the other incredible places in Dublin ‘cause this isn’t one of them. As I told the manager, I’m prepared to accept the fact that our experience was the exception and not the Rule but the faces of the employees tells me otherwise.
We arrived in good time for our booking and had a drink in the cocktail bar which was lovely and cosy. We were then brought to the main restaurant for our meal - when the doors opened we got a bit of a surprise as neither of us were expecting the scale of the main restaurant - its huge!!! We did have a lovely table along the side and up the steps. Service was ok nothing fantastic but the waiting staff were friendly. Meal was delicious we both had the set menu which was good value in my opinion. Steaks were delicious.... in my opinion as it is the restaurant is more suited for larger groups as it's so open. We felt that some sort of low partitioning would make it feel a bit more intimate and it would be less noisy especially if your a table of 2 or 4 - overall lovely experience and I would recommend it based on the food quality. We will return but maybe as a group booking rather than a table of 2 celebrating a wedding anniversary!!!
Good dinner, but as is common at FIre constant change of waiting staff.
An ask of the allergy list result in some confusion, thankfully resolved when the waiting staff again changed
Food excellent but bear in mind you pay a premium if you don’t get in early enough for a pre theatre deal.
We had reserved a table for 9pm. We were left waiting in the launch bar for long time (around 30minutes) without anybody bothering telling us of bringing excuses for the delay.
The least we would have deserved would have been someone to come apologize in the first instance. We had to ask the lady at reception twice (after 15 minutes and after half an hr).
This is unacceptable.
I would have expected a higher degree of professionalism in a place like this.
I arrived with my boyfriend for our reservation for 9:15pm we had arrive at 8:50pm the lady as the reception said we were early so to have a drink at the bar , I had my drink and it was now 9:30pm and nobody had came to use and let us know the table was ready so I asked one of the bar staff and she said she will go and check for me, then after another 10 mins a lady came over and said sorry for the delay and brought us to the table .... a lot of people around us came in after us and we’re not waiting as long as 30 mins ,I personally think they forgot about us which was disappointing .
Reservation was for 9. At 9.20 still sitting in incredibly overpriced bar. Waited 10 minutes to get served a drink. Atmosphere of dining room very good. Waiting staff very nice, friendly and efficient. Food ok but sirloin steak very small and a bit gristly. Would I go back? Yes but not for steak and not on a very busy night
Amazing but loud
In my personal opinion Fire deserves 5 stars - excellent note - if it wasn't as loud and so noisy that we had trouble with normal conversation.
However Fire name doesn't sound like quiet and romantic place so why would I expect it to be peaceful ?
Perhaps because of our previous attempt when we didn't get the table due to no reservation made.
This time I booked a table online with OpenTable (love it) and arrived on time.
At the door two lovely ladies welcomed us warm and offered a drink in the lounge until our table is ready. And here comes the surprise. As I was waiting at the bar trying to order, one of the lovely staff approached my wife and offered to help. She found me in the queue and offered to take the order for our drinks.
After short while we were asked to take a walk towards our table.
Now the food.
Your Fire beer is fantastic ! Sweet corn soup and duck salad were second to none.
Hake fillet was made to perfection and my steak a bit too dry and not big enough for me although ideally grilled and served.
Cold water, good wine, great beer. Nice and helpful staff, lovely pianist downstairs.
Overall lovely place, highly recommended.
Booked for a get together for 8 couples. Table was lovely. Booked for 9pm. Not seated until 9.40pm. There was no rush to take our order until 10pm. We had to ask could they hurry the kitchen. Food quality and set menu was very good when it came. One wrong meal was quickly corrected and not charged for was appreciated. Again no rush on dessert even though was getting close to midnight.
The overall service was good. But we had the feeling, the waitress was trained on the job and it was not her learned profession. The quality of the food was ok but not good enough in relation to the price, especially for the steaks. The ambient was really to loud.
