We order food and drink. Straight away after finishing the food, the bill was brought to the table, after that the waitress came straight away for payment and asked to leave. My reply was that I didn't ask for the bill. We are allowed to be 1h30 minutes and we are not leaving. Bad customer experience.

I can say nothing wrong about this place! I made an rsvp for the wrong day, they changed it for me and were very nice about it. 5 of us were ushered downstairs and immediately got drunk orders in. The menu had something for everyone. We had the Gaelic Boxty, mussels, fish & chips, the Santa shot, a donkey drink that was a play on a Moscow mule and cheesecake and coffee. There were zero complaints from anyone! The mushroom sauce on the boxty got the most comments along with the sauce for the mussels. The fish and chips were crispy perfection. Totally worth a visit. Great service and we over tipped!!

Could not fault the food or the restaurant. We did have one waiter who was a bit miserable but hey ho perhaps an off day. All the others were chatty and interactive.

Lovely dinner with family visiting from Australia. Great food and the servers were so welcoming! Pricey but worth it! We would definitely go back 😊

We ordered the spice box and Vegetarian Boxty . Not a big fan of the dish , the spice box boxty smelled like it was made with gone off oil. Not great value for the price we paid . I will not be returning .

We had dinner at Gallaghers Boxty, good Irish food. Our favourite was the fish and chips. The service was ok, our waiter and the kitchen were too busy and we had to wait for our food too much. For the rest, all good.

Bizarre. We turned up at the time we had booked for but instead of seating us the waitress said she would come back in 5-10 minutes. We asked a couple of questions like if they had brown sauce or soy milk and the waitress would just say “no” and give no suggestions as to what they did have instead. Coffee was bad. The food was okay but not particularly special. Wouldn’t recommend.

Always eat here when in Dublin, never disappointed. Menu evolves but boxty and Irish stew dishes remain at the core, great idea. Not over priced despite being in Temple Bar.

Food and staff were top quality, couldn't fault them. The restaurant was also lovely the only issue I had was it was too cold. I noticed there were 2 or 3 open fires/stoves it would have been nice if even one of these was lit.

The food and the service was really really good. We came in earlier and the staff was so friendly and gave us a table although the place was nearly full. Highly recommended. Thanks 👍👍

We were looking at the Boxty House for just a good Irish meal when we discovered they were hosting a Thanksgiving Day meal. Everything from start to finish was excellent. The beer and cocktails hit the spot, the food and dessert were special, and our waiter, Michael, was helpful and entertaining. We will be recommending this to everyone coming to Dublin and we will be back.

Total disappointment, tourist trap. It used to be good years ago. We went there today, brought family from abroad and it's not a disgrace. Low food quality, small quantity, terrible service and overpriced. There is so much better in Dublin now, I would avoid at all costs.

Hi Steph, sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us but we would completely disagree with your Tourist Trap comment. We are still the same team that "used to be good years ago" and we take a lot of pride in what we do - from making our own breads and beers to the service which is very highly rated but most of our guests. Sorry that you feel otherwise.

Extremely expensive for the food served, and did not advise there was no mashed potatoes left when asking for Irish stew and directly served it with French fries. Should have advised when ordering it

Food and service very good. One in our group could not eat gluten, soy or dairy. Mains were modified so she had several choices. One small beer arrived as a large beer, which we decided to keep.

Greeting at the door very friendly, seated immediately Even Before Reservation Time. Food Fame quickly and it was delicious. Service wasnt Good, we weren‘t asked For a second round of Drinks and on Top of that the waitress brought the bill unasked Not Even an Hour After Arrival. We felt Kicked out.

Food was good and service quite speedy. But I ordered a decaf espresso with my dessert after dinner, which the waiter put in to the order on his tablet as a comment to say decaf, but I was clearly served a fully caffeinated espresso, because I was unable to sleep all night. I'd recommend the food, but don't order decaf, just stay away from the coffee.

Drinks and food were amazing! Meat cooked perfectly to order. Wait time for food after ordering was very little, even with a busy house. The staff was very friendly as well. Will definitely be going back!

Amazing food, very traditional Irish grub, almost everything in the menu is gluten free too which is a plus. Staff are ever so friendly and helpful, our server Cherri (I believe that was her name) was lovely and friendly. 10/10 if we’re ever in Dublin again we will be back.

The restaurant was clean, well run and service was good. The food was ok, about average with a normal amount of food per serving. Three children’s food were good.

We were traveling to Ireland and had never heard of boxy, so we were excited to try it. It did not disappoint! Food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend trying this neighborhood gem.

This was recommended by a tour guide. Good food! Made a reservation but didn’t need it as it was pretty early. Food was good and I appreciated that they had water with ice!

I got the beef stew, was pretty nice. Wasnt a huge portion, I feel the bowl could be a bit bigger. The portion of mashed was very small. That didn't even fill the bowl it came in. Came with 3 slices of bread, ate two of those. Was still hungry afterwards. Was disappointed tbh. Bring back the trio stew that you used to sell!
