Green's Steakhouse - Loughton

Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. Food was all over cooked and bare. Could not even cut through a medium fillet steak. Very unorganised and slow, had to wait 1.5 hours on an empty sunday night for food to show up. Very disappointing overall
An expensive meal should have warranted 5* service. Alas service was slow, had to wait half an hour for main course, had to wait 20 mins for table to be cleared, had to ask for dessert menu and then to order and then another long wait. Over 21/2 hours for a meal that although was fantastic was small on portions. Husband also cut his head on light fitting above the table. Didn’t appreciate service charge being added, which we asked to take off and then left a tip. If you the time and money give it a try.
The overall experience was ok, however, the steaks were not the best quality. The staff didn’t know the difference between each steak or know the wine list very well. I would suggest the staff understand each cut and be able to advise customers in detail as well as know what wines are best with each cut. it was obvious that staff were new to the job.
On arrival we sat at a table for two with only one wine glass. It took some time to get served and after requesting bill we waited ages for the bill to arrive. I would visit again but maybe go for a burger or ribs as steaks were poor quality. this is no Goucho or Hawksmoor!
Food was good , we were party of three and had chicken skewers , fillet steak and sticky chicken , only criticism is that fries were a bit soggy and undercooked , it’s good value for the overall quality of food, the servers were all friendly , polite and helpful but service felt a bit disorganised and if the team are still finding their feet as a team but I’m sure that will happen in time
All good , steak was excellent
The place has been refurbished to a really high standard
Food was lovely the only thing I would say is
The service was a bit slow as there weren’t many people on the day we went also
The salmon was served with fries which I didn’t want so asked for mash instead and was. Charged extra for it which I thought wasn’t very good
Other than that
Very nice 👍
Great atmosphere & food. Would love this restaurant to succeed. If it doesn’t the High Street will lose a good value steak restaurant.
To start with do not touch the wood walls as you will be covered in soot.
I was wearing cream and and not so cream when left .
For a steak house restaurant not to know how to cook steak is shocking.
The backed potatoes are microwaved , small and hard.
The houlumi kebab was floating in oil and the vegetables not cooked.
The staff are lovely especially Angie and the restaurant is stunning but no rush to go back.
The wine list needs to change , I would say especially the rose .
We came for our family lunch on Boxing Day, arrived 1.15pm. There were perhaps 3 other tables occupied. Within a few minutes of sitting, my brothers arm was covered in black from the wall as was his bag. Our drink order was taken, I’d asked for orange juice ‘its from a box’ said the waitress. When it came it was horrible, almost like squash, I complained and she said ‘I told you it was from a box’. Our food order was taken at 1.40pm, it didn’t arrive until 2.45pm. I’d questioned the delay and was told that the staff were tired and hungover from Christmas Day. The onion rings were crisp but bland and the onion inside not properly cooked on some, the fries were limp and greasy not crispy. The steaks were good quality. My daughters (she’s 3) child meal was 2 canapé size burgers with a mountain of salad leaves which she immediately pushed away, I said I’d requested fries with it not salad and was told it doesn’t come with fries - I pointed out that the menu states fries as an option. ‘Oh!’ Her veggie dippers came with a portion of ‘whipped double cream’, I was told when I questioned, which she also pushed away.
As you’ve probably gathered it wasn’t the experience that I expected, or wanted, especially with it being a special family day. I asked for our bill to reflect this, and the service charge was taken off plus 15%.
Beautiful decor. Fantastic service and food outstanding.
Great front of house!
Greens is a lovely restaurant where the food was very nice with steaks cooked as requested. We will definitely be back.
Wonderful decor, amazing service and incredible food. Fantastic restaurant. We will be back....many times.
Was looking forward to this new restaurant as it looked quite classy, with it's nice deco and chandeliers but so disappointed in the food. It was very basic food with salad and chips with any meat and my meal was tasteless. Very expensive for what it was. will not be going again . Would not recommend.
I made a last minute reservation for my birthday meal. The restaurant wasn’t too busy as it was a Wednesday night.
Restaurant decor is lovely and you don’t feel too close to any of the other tables which means you can relax and enjoy your conversations.
Our starters came out, and before we’d finished, our mains came out so we had to have all of the food on the table together so it became quite cramped on the table for space.
I asked for my steak to be cooked a little longer and when it came back it was perfect. Food was lovely!
But then our plates werent taken from the table until maybe 20 mins after we’d finished our food. We stayed and talked after our meal but no staff came back to see if we wanted another drink after the plates were taken.
On paying the bill and just as we were about to leave, the waitress said ‘Oh isn’t it someones birthday today? Happy Birthday!’ and that was it which was a bit disappointing too considering we were just leaving!
The food was really good (highly recommend the scallops starter!) but the service, considering it wasn’t very busy, let it down.
Will definitely return though as they’ve nailed the food!
I love this place and so do My 3 daughters. It is what Loughton High Street needed and a plus for me, is that I can finally jump in a cab to go and eat a quality meal that's only 5 mins away from home.
Lovely new restaurant, with very welcoming and friendly staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Had a table for 11 - great restaurant very good service.
Owner / manager was very attentive and went the extra mile.
Definitely worth a visit.
Lovely fillet steak and sticky toffee pudding, staff were friendly. Can't complain, will be back!
Our last minute reservation was easily accommodated. The elegant setting and very friendly service made our evening special.
Great service and nice venue.
Such a great shame. Many of us who work in Loughton were looking forward to
I knew I booked on an opening night
Some ‘teething’ troubles which I am sure they will sort out
Very friendly, competent General Manager
Excellent first night. We’ve rebooked for the 27 December . Highly recommended. 👍
Ambience is the best thing here. tables with 'fire' coming out of them!
Featherweight steak was disappointingly tough
mushrooms too salty.
Music too loud
and vat confusing on the 'paperless' bills
