Happy Out is adding another string to its bow and taking on the Dublin brunch scene. At the weekend there will be an adventurous brunch menu with a variety of coffees and brewing methods to explore. During the week, we will be giving the people what the want; coffee, toasties and a full breakfast menu.

There are seats in the middle around the open kitchen so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of everything going on. Down the back there is a bright mezzanine area with a skylight and then we have some outdoor table in our lovely sun trap out the back.

This brick and mortar style cafe is the love child of one of the owners, Brian. Taking inspiration from his travels around the world and his family kitchen. The breakfast tacos from his trips around Central/South America, The Levain flatbread from his sourdough starter and soufflé pancakes from eating his way around Japan.

It was really good I would recommend it . The table was quite sticky so I would recommend giving them a really good clean you have have to put your hands on them to feel the stickiness

Rude staff. Received a glass with a lipstick stain. Asked the waitress for a fresh jug of water and she slammed it on the table. Ordered a drink which never arrived. My partner ordered a gluten free toastie and the waiter loudly announced that his coaelic sandwich arrived - my partner is not a coaelic and has a wheat allergy. My partner been ill since he ate the sandwich so it was either not gluten free or the sauce it was seved with was not gluten free. Will never eat there again.

The place was absolutely filthy dirty. We arrived and asked for our table and the guy just stood there looking at us. We both looked at each in confusion and asked for our table again before they comprehended that we wanted to sit down. Sat down at our reserved table (with a little sign) and it was filthy. If you know the table is reserved the bare minimum thing to do is clean it before the customers arrive. We got up and moved. Second table was again filthy. When a member of staff came to clean it he just brushed the crumbs onto the floor and thus over us. Table beside us likewise filthy, seats filthy dirty also. Empty salt packets left in the holder from other customers and not emptied afterwards. Splashes of something on the walls again not cleaned. Staff bringing full rubbish bags through the restaurant out to the bins is not a good look. Likewise looking into the bin area is not enjoyable when eating. All tables filthy dirty and not cleaned when people leave them. It’s not nice to sit down to a table covered in dirt and crumbs from previous customers. Had to ask for the bill because staff were too interested in chatting amongst themselves and taking videos or pictures. Again had to ask could we pay the bill. Dirty brush sitting out in full view beside the till. If staff paid as much attention as they do to each other and their phones and actually cleaned and did basic customer service tasks then the place would be great. The only good thing was the food which was lovely and couldn’t fault that aspect. However the very very dirty environment and lack lustre of staff let it down majorly and would be slow to recommend due to this. If it’s dirty where customers can see I dread to think what it might be like behind the scenes.

Really really great brunch, we had the breakfast tacos and the breakfast bap and they were both delicious. We were especially impressed with the tacos that reminded us of breakfast tacos/burritos we used to have in California. We had a batch brew coffee as well which was perfect.
