   This place took me by surprise. I had read good things but every dish was stellar. Everything was perfectly balanced, interesting flavors, perfectly executed. Even the Caesar salad was fantastic. My favorite dish was the hamachi crudo, which was light with flavors that pop. I could have eaten 3 of them myself. The scallops were also a standout, as well as the duck liver with plum butter, and the pork belly. As good as the food is, the drinks are next level. My husband and I worked our way through the cocktail list and had one winner after another. And they just added a cheesecake dessert that has pickled apricots and Thai basil syrup, and you should definitely save room for it.

   First time here and sat at the bar. Cocktails were well done and bartender does a nice job taking care of everyone, however when he said he would talk to someone about our food (much too salty) we were surprised that he didn’t as nothing was done. We had the duck liver, steak tartare, and blood cake in that order. The food just got more salty with every dish. We were hoping for some veggies to break up how salty everything was, but were told they only have bread for extra charge. Should have skipped the last two items. Would come back just for cocktails, sad about the food since we were hoping to find a new fav restaurant.

   We had such a great meal at Here's Looking at You. Food and drinks are so inventive and unique. We love to sit at the bar. Great location in iconic K-town on 6th Street. Damian at the bar was the perfect guide for our meal and the area!

   Overall the food was alright not spectacular as two of the dishes were left most untouched. Shishito peppers had an artificial sweetener aftertaste as did the tarter. Given the meal was almost $200 for 2 people I expected to be blown away.

    HLAY is our favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles. The food is to die for and the service is beyond exceptional. The ambiance is cozy but energetic and it is always wonderful to go there.

    This place used to be amazing, food was unique, with flavors working well together. This time around however, something changed - the flavors were either bland or overpowering, duck came out cold and literally the minute after we placed the order. Would most likely not be back for now. . It's unfortunate

    My partner and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary and HLAY delivered with excellent service, cocktails and food. We both loved the Ashley Margarita, a twist on a classic didn’t disappoint. The clams and tartare were our favorite, the clams had a great kick and the bread was on point! My only comment would be lighting, dim lighting in a small restaurant is always a nice way to set a good vibe.

    We had an amazing time! The albacore avocado dish and the scallop and gnocchi were AMAZING, as were the cocktails! Unfortunately when we went they were out of the pork belly and a couple other dishes, but I can’t wait to go back and try them. Service was also excellent!

    Checked all the boxes, from host to server to runners. Perfect range of flavors and options across the menu (food and drink). Amazing use of texture in all the dishes from the smoothest uni panna cotta with crunchy wild rice to the softest of tartare pair with perfectly grilled semolina bread. Thank you so much! (and shout out to nytimes top 50 list for identifying America’s hidden gems - HLAY stayed true to the excellence of the other members of the list at which I have dined!)

    HLYO is one of our favorites and we will be back. Last night's visit had some "greats" and some "disappointments" The Greats: Cocktails ( always one of the most creative and well balanced drinks) Uni panna cotta ( nice new version- a bit strong on the vinegar and onions this time but still a favorite) Beef tartar ( always wonderful) Very good: Scallops and gnocchi- nice flavorful curry Disappointments: Escargot and CHorizo- chorizo was overwhelming- Escargot a bit chewy. Not well conceived Truffle dish- not a lot of flavor. Might be a good accompaniment but this was served last and by itself Dessert- Some bitter flavor; the cake was OK but we were not happy

    Still very very good, among best in LA. Some of the dishes now a bit too spicy, kills the taste of the dish completely, but still an original, warm and nice place to have a good and authentic food in LA.
