Hochi Mama was the God Mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early nineties. An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renowned for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.

    Visited last night for my dad’s birthday but was so disappointed. Menu has changed, food quality degraded and portion size has reduced. Not worth at all!!

    Efficient and prompt service was appreciated because we only had limited time due to a theatre booking. The food was excellent and the whole fish was a stand out. Highly recommended.

    I cannot recommend Hochi Mama any more highly. I’m still thinking about my meal from yesterday. I’m not vegan, but you must try any of the dishes with tofu instead of meat. Delicious!

    One of my favourite restaurants I came with different friends this time so ordered different food and we were not disappointed at all ! Amazing - our server was awesome - very patient when we weren’t quite ready to order

    We had a wonderful lunch at Hochi Mama. The staff were friendly and very helpful when making recommendations of what to order. The cocktails and food were delicious. Will definitely be going back.

    Outstanding food and service, we tried their 'feed me' with a table of 4 it was perfect. Tried many different dishes and they were all amazing. Would return in a heart beat!

    Loved loved hochi mama. From the time we arrived to leaving the service was great. Fast and friendly. The food was delicious and ample - generous servings. We loved it and will be back.

    My friend and I booked in at 6pm. It took a long time to get served by a waiter to even order our food. We ordered the feed me now, and we were waiting a very long time for the larger meals to come out, the table next to us had at least 8 people, they were seated after us and their food was coming out quicker . Once we got the larger mean, the section waiter told us that we only had half an hour left until the next booking so we felt rushed. This is my third time at the restaurant and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had, I normally love coming here but after lastnight, I was left highly disappointed.

    Definitely bao buns with fried chicken. Chicken satay skewers very good. Unfortunately chinese brocolli, pork too dry & chewy. Last time tried the pork hoc also very dry.

    A fantastic meal! We were only in Melbourne for one night due to work, and this was the place recommended by colleagues and I am so glad it was. Delicious food, amazing cocktails, and a great vibe. We'll be back!

    I have heard so much about this place that when I was the designated person in our group to find a place to eat , I had to pick here. It did not disappoint! The food was fresh, tasty and came out pretty quick especially for a busy Saturday night. I loved that the menu catered for vegans as it allow for me to enjoy eating with my Omni friends without compromising on tasty. We were all really happy and will be returning soon 😊

    Meal was good. Ordered banquet and when it came to pay the bill extra $8 for some dishes ordered on banquet. Bit cheeky considering weren't told. Just make sure you understand the facts as banquet bit deceiving. Having said that plenty of food and very delicious.

    Had the Feed Me! Amazing value-so much food and every plate we had was delicious. Yummy cocktails & great service. We had to move on quickly though as our table had a reservation after us, but we were aware of that.

    Food is amazing; cocktails were really good too. Very “energetic” noise levels for a couple celebrating an anniversary. Very careful with allergies and then offered good flexibility with food choices around the allergy.
