   We are locals and have frequented Ichi Ni St.Kilda many times over the years but the quality and taste of the food has gone downhill considerably. The increase in prices are just unfathomable for the small servings and under par food. Won’t be rushing back in a hurry unfortunately!

   Arrived at 6:30pm, 2 tables arrived after us and waiters took their food and drink orders before ours. Didn’t get served until 45mins after being seated, we had to ask a waiter to take our order. Food arrived after 1 hour and we still had no drinks which we had to ask if they were still coming. The table behind us who arrived after us received 2 rounds of drinks before we received ours. Finally got the drinks we ordered after 1hr 15mins.. was really keen to get drunk but just wanted to go home after waiting for so long. Waiting 1hr 15mins for some cocktails is ridiculous.. when the cocktails came they came in wine glasses because they ran out of the glasses that they usually come in. When we paid we mentioned how long we were waiting and the hostess apologised and blamed it on being the time that we arrived.. she gave us 10% off the bill. Very disappointing as we come here and always love it but won’t be rushing back any time soon.

   Had Sida serving us (not sure if that’s how you spell it) but very good at her job and made the experience even better than it was. The set menu was perfect for what we were after and all the food was amazing.

   Thankyou, we really enjoyed our anniversary at Ichi Ni. lovely location, great staff, food was great. My wifes meal was excellent. Only feedback was that my porkbelly was slightly overdone, but still delicious. Very interesting menu and pricing was resonable. Would definently recommend.

    The staff were the nicest people ever, for such a hectic (busy restaurant) environment they were always so calm, nice and respectful - and the food came SO quick and was so delicious!! Made the night so incredibly special, and the decor inside is gorgeous by the way.

    Service took way too long for an evening which the venue was at half capacity. We ordered the set menu which was really nice food but wasn’t overly a lot for how expensive it was. The drinks took 20-30 minutes each time we ordered.

    Quality and attentativeness of service was very lacking. Only asked for drinks once, All glasses were cleared once emptied (even out water glasses). Plates cleared without asking if we wanted more. It was clear that it was more important to move us on for the next booking rather than serving us. Also - why ask if it is an occasion if you do not acknowledge it at the time of booking? Very disappointing from a venue we love to visit

    We have been to ichi Ni Izakaya numerous times and the food is always delicious and presented beautifully on a plate. However, the only disappointment was that an uneven split between two families was not possible . Was told it would only accept a 50:50 split due to their system . Not sure why it was so difficult to do a 40:60 split as it was still going to result in 2 transactions . Otherwise the ambience of the restaurant was lovely . Given 4 stars instead of 5 stars due to the transaction issue .

    Food is good but the service on a busy night completely ruins the experience, 20 minutes between servings of food which are small plates, waiters taking dishes before they are finished and also forgotten dish has me regretting coming here.

    We came for a family get together and our experience was exceptional. Ichi Ni has a mesmerising atmosphere, the skilled chefs cook in front of you (if you book a seat at the counter), the interior has beautiful touches from lighting to tables. Our wait staff (all who are happy to help) have exceptional knowledge and gave us suggestions within our dietary requirements (plus they all had a laugh with us). All the food wash fresh, hot, and complimented nicely with side sauces and garnishes. We would 100% recommend eating at Ichi Ni if you get the chance!

    Oh it can be so hit and Miss at this restaurant, I’ve been going for over 10 years I stopped for awhile as service was bad. Food always great. Then returned recently for a lunch and could not fault service and food. Was spot on went last night- service extremely slow. Extremely lacking in vibe and understanding and just plain bad. How disappointing- food was great. Came out quickly but they didn’t clear any dishes- we were just sitting amongst empty plates until we got up to leave and pay. Didn’t tip but the previous time tipped 15%.

    The value for money is just not there. Portion sizes are ridiculous. $50 for 9 pieces of sushumi the size of a 50c piece is a joke. Order the wagyu skewers, they said you get 8 then when it arrived there was only 2 skewers with 4 pieces on each and the meat size was the size of a 5c piece, I thought they were joking. Won't be back.
