20 minutes after being seated our order had still not been taken, so we left. And people at a nearby table who were seated after us had had their orders taken. I can see how December is a busy time of year, but if a restaurant doesn't have enough staff to serve its customers they shouldn't take so many reservations. It will be a while before I return, if I return.

The service was very very poor. Initially we got the lunch menus when we arrived although we were there in the evening time. We had to call over the waiter to get the right menus and after an inordinate amount of time had elapsed we had to get up and go to the bar to get someone to come to the table to place an order. We were met with indifference but eventually someone arrived at the table and a drinks and food order was taken. Waiting staff were clearly untrained, uninterested and preoccupied. Food was fine once it arrived. Our friends had come from Belfast to join us for a meal before an evening show. We were very disappointed with the service.

I have been to the IFI Cafe many times and have been very pleased. Sadly, I was there with a friend on the 2nd of December and I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed. Firstly, I was disappointed with the menu, I appreciate it was the brunch menu,but I would have liked the option of soup or a club sandwich,secondly, my friend asked for the buttermilk chicken burger plain and she clearly stated twice that she did not want anything on it,no salad no dressing just plain,it arrived with everything on it,I wanted to say something but my friend did not want to make a fuss. It really is not acceptable not to listen to the guest, It was my friends first time on my recommendation. I was embarrassed, to say the least, the staff were also not very attentive. We were not once asked if everything was OK. A very disappointing experience. Caroline Dixon.

We are regular customers at IFI restaurant and it is a lovely comfortable gently lit space to eat before or after a film. Last night we had the french menu with the French Film Festival. Food was great but Bouillabasse was sublime. Worth going back for. Great little restaurant with friendly efficient staff. If you go early in the day, have the french toast.

We were seated within about 10 mins after arriving for our reservation-3 of us. Food choice was good, special French menu Sat of FF23. Waitress was very helpful in explaining menu options Food was well up to our expectations. The option for a larger glass of wine is a welcome offering.

Disaster! You need more staff! We arrived at the end of our movie and were seated quite quickly, handed 2 menus and that was it! Nobody came near us for 25 minutes …. Despite several attempts to make eye contact and calling to staff. So we left and when we handed back the menus to let the floor manager know we were leaving, the response was ‘oh’! Never again.

Service and ambience are great but the IFI is let down by sub-standard food for the price - feels like the basics are missed here. A shame as it could be a great location to eat but next time won’t return for food and will stick to coffees/cake.

Always like to dine in IFI cafe ..this time we were not going to film but celebration of birthday. Was very busy and noisy when we arrived at 7.30 pm but soon became quite and we were able to chat. Staff very friendly and attentive. Jack and Michelle. Food overcooked so not so happy Didn't complain as I was treating friend to meal .

A lovely place to be. It was cold but quiet. We had a wonderful Charcuterie board followed by a burger and cauliflower tacos. The food was great. A lovely bottle of reasonably priced wine. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a nice place to eat

I’m a regular filmgoer at the IFI and always like the cafe bar atmosphere. The staff were great as always and very friendly. I can’t speak highly enough about them. I was looking for a healthy lunch so had the duck wrap with Hoisin sauce, served with fries and a cappuccino. Sorry to say the wrap was stodgy and tasteless. The chips and coffee were OK. My friend had a Club Sandwich and thought it was fine. It’s a great venue but the food needs to be better.

Usually a lovely time and experience at IFI but sadly our service was incredibly slow. Took over 40 minutes for our food to be served. Coffees also took 20 minutes and we nearly missed the screening! Food was pretty nice but hopefully they can improve service as I usually love coming here!

The Thai curry was very tasty. Service very good. Unfortunately, there wasn't wine glasses available so we made do with flutes rather than the plastic cups. I would go back.

Great value with a decent menu and options, brownie desert not good though, sorry. Super location, love the IFI. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon so not busy. A little underwhelmed with the service, it wasn't bad, just felt the staff didn't really care that we were there. Three of them behind the counter as we left, not even and thank you and goodbye. That said, always a good place to eat and relax in that part of the city.
