   The food was delicious, but it was really really expensive. Particularly for the portions. Cocktails were also expensive. Service was mediocre, bordering on snobbery. Please improve on this as I would love to try that food again.

    Excellent cooking by a team who know what they are about. The tasting menus were too expensive. But the a la carte options were great and well priced. Entrees: Stuffed zucchini flowers were a mild disappointment. Not terrible. Just not excellent. However, the raw scallops were really great. Balanced additions did not overwhelm the delicacy of the scallop itself. Mains:The Barramundi, Cabbage, and Goat Curry were standouts. Beautiful crusty fluffy bread. Great stuff. Wine: Small selection of excellent wines. A little overpriced, I thought. Great atmosphere in what was once Hartsyard. Friendly and patient staff. A great experience.

    Beautiful, creative food with fresh ingredients. The prawn skewer and raw mango dessert were standout dishes that I will dream about for at least the next week.

    The zucchini flowers are amazing. Eat 2 at least. Great cocktails. Friendly staff. A juicy curry for the vegetarians would be a welcome addition. Will be returning.

    Loved Hartsyard and sadly Irene's is a poor replacement. From the off the service was slow waiting 15mins to place a drink order. We had the smaller taster menu ($85pp), scallops were amazing as was the wombok salad. The rest was unfortunately average. And, more importantly, we left hungry. I read another review saying the food was minimalist I would simply say small.

    We loved Hartsyard and I was slightly surprised when my enquiry went straight to Irene’s. As the proprietors had worked at Bentleys I was ok with the redirection. When we got there, the food was very good and we enjoyed it. It would be great if your wine list was a little bigger although I understand that the cost of maintaining a larger inventory in covid times is too taxing.

    Had the $100 tasting menu. First up was bread and butter, which was ok, paired with zucchini flowers stuffed with a meat of some kind, texture and taste of sausage, again ok. We then waited for 30 minutes for the next course, which was beetroot with grated carrot and a mild, almost tasteless paste, the beetroot was bland and unseasoned. After another 30 minutes we were presented with barramundi and a smoked eggplant dish. The barramundi itself was ok, but nothing other than normal, cook at home - in a sauce that could only be described as Heinz Salad Cream, which was nauseating. The eggplant was smashed beyond recognition and was accompanied by a bitter sauce. Not very nice. We then waited for about another 40 minutes for the next course, we were absolutely starving by this point, and it arrived eventually but was basically plain chicken sat on green puréed peas, the whole thing was something a child would eat - bland, flavourless and dull. The accompaniment was chips. I only ate them because I was starving, but they were quite bland, with a mild dusting of a salty powder, resembling cigarette ash. A half dressed salad of mixed leaves was bitter, but crisp. The final round was two deserts; a sesame ice cream and a cold mango ice with a warm ish cream top. Both deserts were really nice. The room was freezing, located bear the ice cold aircon from 6.30 to 9.20 left us thoroughly chilled, and the wooden bench seating without any cushions gave me a sore behind. Beer selection was limited to 4 of which 2 were mass produced slip, with no local brews available, despite the location in the heart of brewing territory. Very below average and very disappointing.

    Been a few times to Hartsyard now as we love a changing seasonal menu and wine pairing. They do an excellent job, waiters are knowledgeable and friendly, hope they do not lose the pairing menu as it is really well thought out. Love the opportunity to taste all kinds of creative plates as well!

    First and foremost the food was sensational! Great for people who love share plates. Generous portions, super tasty and prepared to perfection. Staff were all super friendly and extremely efficient. Great wine list too! We will definitely be back and look forward to visiting them once they relocate.

    Another fabulous meal at one of our favourite locals. Possibly the best meal we’ve had there after at least 8 visits. The a la carte menu was superb. It’s a testament to to them that they have retained their charming, warm, knowledgeable, gorgeous staff through two years of lockdowns and Covid chaos. They are moving soonish but we will stalk them and follow wherever they go. So so good 🙏 we just love this place so much. Thank you guys

    My partner and I hadn’t been to Hartsyard since they split off the fried chicken side in pursuit of a more finer dining experience. Saturday night we visited to celebrate our anniversary. The food came out at a good pace. The Bateman’s Bay oysters were lacking and leaned heavily on the ginger vinaigrette. The octopus was chewy and inedible, and the amount of added salt was enough to sting our mouths. The scallops, steak, chips, and asparagus were otherwise fantastic and I would order them again. And I strongly recommend the not-so-old fashioned cocktail. 11/10. In spite of the failed octopus the staff were extremely friendly and removed the item from the bill. They handled the situation in the best way possible and tipped them accordingly. Overall, in my opinion the food has lost the soul that Hartsyard was built on. The food was good, but not exceptional. The ambience and service was 10/10.

    Amazing food and great wines. Not sure if it’s a deliberate strategy to get everyone more focused on the food, but it’s actually hard to chat. Ambient noise is very high (approx 80dB) due to insufficient sound dampening.

    It was nice to get back to Hartsyard with some solid dishes, but the “Best of” tasting menu didn't have as much of the pre-lockdown “wow” factor that I remembered. Great wines though.

    Hartsyard exceeded all expectations! We were desperate to dine here when we heard it was closing and we’re fortunate to get a booking! I couldn’t fault our dining experience! The food was absolutely wonderful! Everything we ordered we enjoyed. The two main dishes: the pork jowl and the yabby frites were both sensational! The service was superb; considering how busy the restaurant is and how limited the staffing was, we felt very much attended to. Brilliant atmosphere. Great buzz about the space, with minimalistic decor and a cute little bar area. Off street metered parking available (Enmore rd side). Can’t wait to try it over in Chippendale to compare!
