Always worth booking a table as it does get very busy especially on Saturday. As the restaurant name suggests there is a good varied menu of fish and shell fish on offer. The food is wholesome and superb. Despite being very busy , the service was first class.

We sat in the snug which was cosy and quiet. I am not a huge fan of crab, however, decided to try crab soup for starter. This was so tasty-I'm a convert! I had fish platter-such a delicious selection with chunky wholemeal bread. My partner had smoked salmon starter followed by crab salad with chips which he also devoured and enjoyed. Although we were full we did manage to squeeze in a walnut tart with cream to share! Perfect meal.

Gorgeous venue, clean, very well laid out and inviting. Food was amazing, so tasty and very well presented with just the right amount and very good value for money. The Jolly fish board was superb, the fish cakes the best we’ve ever tasted and the beef dripping chips, wow, incredible and an absolute must. The staff were incredible, very friendly whilst being professional and super efficient. Definitely be going back!

Quite disappointed with this restaurant. Requested a highchair which was absolutely filthy when it arrived. I’ve got a member of staff to clean it but she still didn’t clean it properly and I had to do it again. The crab soup was tasty, but very thin and not very big portion. I had a fresh flaked salmon sandwich, but it was quite dry because there was no butter on the bread, which I found quite extraordinary. The restaurant was busy, but I found some of the staff seem to be quite miserable. I also thought the choice on the menu was quite limited.

Great welcome - lovely service. Food was a notch up on visit last year in Feb. Just loved the whole experience. The Landlord and the Pale (suspect the Pale is a rebadged TT beer?) was brilliant too. Love fresh crab and my wife had a kipper & delicious chowder. Great value too. Well worth the walk from Low Newton car park and plenty to salivate and discuss on the walk back!

We have been dying to try the crab sandwiches and they did not disappoint. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back - hopefully in the summer when we can sit outside to really enjoy the view. Only issue is leaving enough time to ensure a parking space.

Our first visit to this lovely pub and won't be our last. The sea views from the restaurant are outstanding. It was by far the busiest place in Craster so very glad we booked a table beforehand. I had the fish platter which was beautifully presented and totally delicious. My husband had the burger which sadly was very overcooked and extremely solid. Service was friendly and professional but we did have to wait 50 minutes for our main courses which we both felt was far too long however a very memorable and enjoyable lunch.

Fantastic lunch yesterday at the Jolly Fisherman. Table was ready even though we arrived quite a bit early after a blustery walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. We both had the Fish Pie from the Specials Board which my partner said was the best she had ever tasted ( and she's sampled a lot!). The bar is dog friendly and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely recommend making an advanced reservation as it was busy, even after 3pm and we will definitely be planning another visit here in the not too distant future.

I always try to go to the Jolly Fisherman, every time I visit Craster. The Fisherman board is my usual selection and love it (even though it is rather expensive) Upon arrival we were greeted by a male approx 30 year old with glasses and a ponytail, I had a pushchair for my daughter and he explained our table was upstairs and walked up, I then asked if he could help lift the front of the pushchair to which he replied 'You could've asked me before I got to the top!' to which I was annoyed at him being so rude and unprofessional but ignored it, then I said 'where shall I put the pushchair as there's not much room' to which he replied 'actually it's better near the front door as the only place I could leave it would be blocking where servers input peopl s orders! I then said 'Well if you'd told me that at the start I wouldn't have needed to bring it upstairs! (Couldnt resist as I was still angry at him being rude) I then spoke to the manager and explained what had happened, she seemed shocked and appealed and was amazing, explained she will speak to him and that we could have a round of free drinks which was nice of her. I decided to try the famous crab sandwich for main and 3 oysters to start and my partner just ordered the Crab Salad which is priced at £24.95! My oysters were delicious with the vinegar and Tabasco on and the crab sandwich was very nice but I wasn't full at the end unfortunately. My partner was also still hungry after her salad, for the £24.95 you get plenty crab meat but don't get enough salad. Also I believe chips should be included in the crab sandwich to make it more filling. The food does taste great, the decor and location is fantastic and the manager is also professional and made our meal a good visit. But they seriously need to get rid of that rude guy who works there as they overheard him speaking and said they were appalled and he does it on a regular basis. Excellent food and venue but some food is overpriced for the portion size you get

Really lovely food, the scallops were perfect and the crab salad and soup was delicious. Best chips ever too the beef dripping ones! Unfortunately we went in the dark so couldn’t see the view but nice restaurant area. Good bar area, arrived early and could fit in comfortably with 5 of us. Could park right outside so dog was ok in car as not allowed in restaurant. Service good, helpful waitresses. Only thing is is it is a bit more on the expensive side but don’t mind paying more when the food is just that good and fresh.

This place lives up to its reputation. We choose their Valentines menu which didn't disappoint. The beef wellington was cooked perfectly. Crisp pastry all over owing to the crepe wrap, unusual but it worked! Chocolate moose with a twist. A very thoughtful menu for a special occasion. Service was very good. Staff were ever present and even checked to see how we were enjoying the food on more than one occasion. Would highly recommend a visit.

Overpriced, poor value, indifferent sea food. My wife and I drove to this pub for a late Valentines lunch. The pub was overheated (open fire on v warm day) and generally in need of a good clean and redecoration. Kipper pate dry and chowda just ok. We shared a seafood platter for 2 (£46) , ok mussels, 2 pieces of smoked salmon and mashed brown crab meat. The beer should have been good (T Taylor’s and Farne bitter) but there was a strong tang of uncleaned beer pipes). Good beer spoiled. Then the voluntary/involuntary 7.5% tax on the overall bill. £84.

Really lovely place that is great for both walkers with dogs and those wanting a fancier restaurant. Great food, slightly more upmarket than typical pub food but still caters to everyone and good portion sizes. Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and real ale too! Great local in the heart of Craster!

The food was ok but not outstanding, The Crab soup was delicious, but the fish pie was tasty but dry, no sauce at all . Steak and ale pie was nice but contained mushrooms which one of our party dislikes, this was not included in the description. Otherwise staff and atmosphere were first class just a pity some small adjustments to the food would make it five star On the whole a great place to visit.
