   Great food, great service. We sat at the rooftop on a beautiful, sunny day. It was really nice and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We took our 4 year old daughter. It’s very family and dog friendly.

   We go for trivia on Wednesday’s. The salmon salad is amazing, but make sure to order the salmon well done. The NZ sauv blanc goes very well with it. Drink selection is great. Other food options are hit or miss. The servers are very good, but there is usually only one server for the whole downstairs, which is packed during trivia. We love geeks who drink trivia. Kairoa is a good bar for trivia!

   One of our guests food was delayed and arrived after everyone else had finished. The delayed dish was a Thursday only special, ramen. The dish itself was “gamey”, it was a lamb ramen. When the ramen arrived the server apologized and said it would be “taken care of”. Our guest did not even mention the gamey flavor and was just pretty much over the whole experience. When the check arrived only half of the ramen price was deducted........

   Loved Kairoa! Food was great! Beers were very good. Service was awesome! We lucked out and had perfect weather for the rooftop dining. This will be added to our list of favorite restaurants in San Diego. Also seems like a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The fireplace areas look very inviting. Will definitely return for happy hour soon.

   We went to Kairoa for a casual business dinner. We ended up sharing each of our selections along with appetizers. We also selected fruit spritzers instead of beer. They were light and refreshing, but I think a beer would have been a better choice for the New Zealand Burger, which was divine. One of our other selections was thinly sliced salmon that was absolutely heavenly, but seriously needed a side to make it a meal. I highly recommend Kairoa, and you can bring your pooch with you!

    Food was ok or below ok. I had to order myself and serve my entire $200.00 table. Not impressed from when I went the first time they opened. I Will Not Waste my Money here in the future. It will be closed in 6 months and hopefully someone with good service and better food will reopen. Sorry you missed your mark too late....

    Lovely and well designed space. Easily accommodated my group with a Friday night reservation but the roof deck gets busy on weekends so plan ahead. Food came out all together and was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Elevated gastro pub inspired options with some kiwi flair. Salmon and lamb were amazing as were the beers brewed on site.     Limited rotating menu but the food is delicious and the staff/service is top notch. The patio area is awesome with ample heaters and fire pits for cool evenings.

    Kinda garbage that they charge the 3% up charge to “deal with the new California law” requiring they pay their employees a living wage when they weren't in business before that law came into effect, and are still understaffed? Three dimensional chess, that.

    We waited a while for a hostess and there was a line beginning to form for seemingly no reason as the restaurant was pretty empty. No one greeted us or told any of us that someone would be right there. When we were greeted she was kind and helpful, but the hostess stand was cluttered with lots of her personal belongings including what seemed like her making beaded jewelry. When we were seated our server was great. We asked for one of our items to come out as an app, it ended up coming out a min or two after our entrees. Not a big deal but she was on it before we had to even inquire about it which was great! The food was pretty mediocre at best. For the price we could have gone to several other restaurants in the area with much better food than here. The mussels were ok, it was supposed to come with chorizo and it maybe came with 5-6 tiny pieces. There was a hearty portion of bread which was nice but overall it left me wanting more. My husband got the shrimp sliders. He kept saying it tasted like fish and there wasn’t much flavor to it. The best part was the lamb fries. Our server was the best part of the night with her attention to detail and kindness. When we walked out no one said bye including the hostess which was up front staring down at her jewelry making. Just didn’t feel very hospitable, but If you’re into mediocre food and hospitality this is your spot.

    Brunch upstairs on the rooftop is the place to be if you don't want sports blasting on ten TVs all around you (that's downstairs). Great view of the neighborhood, nice breeze blowing, and a great relaxed vibe. Brunch menu has been disappointingly pared way down, but the full menu offers lots of very tasty Kiwi inspired items. Beers were mixed: really good hoppy session, pilsner, and stout; really off Berlinerweisses in various (almost undrinkable) flavors.

    Large rooftop patio had a comfortable and fun vibe and great view Food was not as dedicated to kiwi fare as i had hoped and i was a bit disappointed with the meat pie as it was dry. Fish and chips were good - fish was light and flaky and octopus was the best thing on the menu (so we ordered it twice!)

    Live just blocks away and live to sit on the rooftop area but service is either great or completely awful. We keep coming back in hopes we get another good time but will probably not go again for quite sometime.

    The menu was so so. I had the special, the rack of lamb. I got shorted. Half a portion, compared to my BF. Salmon salad was good. Fish and chips were not crisp or crunchy. Avocado sandwich was just OK. Oyster appetizer, ok. Not sweet. Specials came out 20 minutes after our others got their food. But the view upstairs on the deck is amazing.

    The menu and dining at Kairoa were top notch. We had an early Saturday lunch so it was not crowded. This month the meat pies was a spicy pulled pork. Very filling and tasty. We also tried the fish and chips which were battered to perfection. Next time we will try some of the lighter salad options.

    We enjoyed our time but it was SO loud that we couldn’t hear one another talk. There was a huge crowd in the middle of the patio that edged right next to our table. I might hesitate to return for this reason. But the food and beer was good.

    We live in the neighborhood and love what Kairoa brings to the table for university heights. The ambiance is definitely a 10/10, being the only 2 story deck in the area the out door patio is the only way to go. We really enjoy the burgers and fresh salads Kairoa offers. Wasn't as impressed with the beet hummus but nothing too detrimental to dwell on. Overall love this place and will be going back all summer.

    We had a great experience, especially booking through OpenTable. We requested the roof deck and a corner table so our group could talk, which was ready when we arrived. Everything was perfect, the food, the service, the ambiance... I highly recommend this restaurant, especially the roof deck.

    The food was bland despite the great presentation. The ambiance is amazing. They have a great rooftop with open-air seating and very modern decor. It is probably a great place to grab a beer and hang out, but not recommended as a foodie dinner spot.
