Kellari Taverna is a lovely restaurant tucked away on 44th Street, almost equidistant from Grand Central Station and Times Square. My friend and I had a nice lunch there. The service was excellent; our server engaged in an amusing repartee prompted by my date. The wine list was quite good. When I patronize Greek restaurants, I like to sample the native wines, and there were several selections. I chose the Rōbola, whose mineral accents I liked. I believe our server was Greek; I ordered roasted sardines, a dish I commented to her that only European restaurants serve, which she affirmed. I can only comment on our two menu choices. My date ordered the Greek salad, which was copious, and I, the sardines, which were few. I sampled the salad, and though good, it was not out of the ordinary. I would say, then, that those two items were overpriced and did not provide great value,

This visit was my second at Kellari Taverna. I loved it so much the first time, I came back with my family. The restaurant is beautiful and so is the food. We went for pre-Theatre dinner - the service was a bit slower than I liked, due to the time constraints of the showtime. Next time, I'll make sure I have time to have a leisurely meal.

The prix fixe menu was outstanding with excellent choices. We ordered two different prix fixe menus and shared and both were delicious. The service was outstanding and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.
