Such supreme satisfaction we take from the delicate flavours of Japan and the warmth of ltalian cooking and feel it’s right to bring these culinary forces together to do a little dance. Why not? Soul mates are they not with their mutual love of noodles, rice, and proteins in their pure, delicious uncooked form? Think of the cool elegant crudo and cruda, crisp exotic salads, playful pastas, and rich, tender meats that we shall sink our teeth into. And whilst doing so, we will drink! A symphony of textures and flavours: cool, soft and herbaceous on the lips, the resistance of a perfect pasta noodle between your teeth.     Wonderful birthday dinner celebration. A top five all time dining experience. EVERYTHING was delicious, impeccable service, gorgeous room and interesting, inventive preparations. Loved it!

    Considering this was noted as a birthday dinner, no considerations were made. We opted for the omakase dinner - The chawanmushi starter was delicious - a great way to start the meal. The standout dish was an incredible French omelette - this was wow. Unfortunately, the starters were underwhelming: the Hiramasa dish we had was over dressed with olive oil, and the octopus dish was not at all tender in fact chewy. The salad it came along with, we thought needed to be thinner slices of radish and vegetables present. The pasta dish was very tasty, it was hard to see the presentation because it was so dark where we sat. Great flavours and loved that the pasta was cooked al denté. Quality A5 wagyu however the dish was uninspiring, considering this establishment has been given a 1 star Michelin. The duck breast dish was presented very nicely however the duck itself was not easy to eat as it was tough to chew. The scalloped potatoes as a side was very flavourful and beautifully cooked dish. The panna cotta dessert (but not panna cotta) was fantastic. We were given the bill before having asked, we had not yet finished our digestifs. Otherwise our first server, Bronwin was wonderful and very accommodating. We can’t quite remember the name of the gentleman’s name who brought us our dishes but he was passionate about the food and very friendly, Antonio perhaps? We’d like to thank him for his wonderful hospitality. We were sad to see our birthday was not acknowledged considering we paid a lot to enjoy a meal at Kissa Tanto.

    Really amazing. Such tasty food. Very expensive. I believe after tipping 20% we were close to $700. But still worth it and we are very glad we came. We had been waiting for a long time to come to Kissa Tanto and we have no regrets. Thanks for an awesome meal!

    Celebrated birthdays. Well deserved Michelin Star - every dish was creative, flavourful, and generous. Not often do you feel full after tasting menu but you will be here. We will be back!

    Upon arrival the host and waiters were all fantastic. We were seated right away and as it was our first time here, the waiter took plenty of time to explain the menu. We ended up choosing to do the omakase ($150 pp) which the waiter explained to us as a special dining experience in which the chef chooses the dishes with a mixture of classics from the menu as well as some dishes that aren’t on the menu. They asked if we had any allergies, we said no and service began. They first brought oysters, to which I politely said I’m sorry but neither of us like oysters. The manager, who had brought the dish, said well why didn’t you tell us that? He was quite hostile and proceeding to say well is there anything else you don’t like, as if it was our fault for not telling them when they never asked. We were so uncomfortable that my partner ate the oysters just to appease them, even though he detests them. The rest of the food was good, with the wagyu and the dessert both being outstanding. However, the wait times between dishes were ridiculous. People around us were consistently brought 2 dishes before we received our next dish. Additionally, they only brought items from the menu (and the more expensive ones at that). For $300, we could have chosen our own dishes from the menu if that’s all they were going to do. Overall, the food is great (some outstanding, some great, some good and some so so based on preferences), but the slow service and hostility from the manager really detracted from the experience.

    Absolutely amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a higher price point so be prepared to spend some money but it’s worth it for such an experience!

    We had a great time at Kissa - staff and team were excellent. The omakase menu was great a just wish food portions were bigger so that everyone got a bit more food. We will return!

    I was so excited for this - and this would be the first michelin star experience for the other 2 guests I was with. We were celebrating a 30th birthday but there was no “happy bday” from our server while we were there. Our food was good, some dishes definitely stood out over others.. however, the 2 major issues I have to give as feedback is that we noticed a hair in the food (sablefish) and immediately told the server, I showed her and she said “oh ok, let me make you another one”. It took some time for a fresh plate but when it was dropped off by another server, they just said “you’ve had a run down of the dish right?” There was no apology, no acknowledgement, nothing! The second was the udon, which was highly anticipated and definitely my favourite dish, however it was hard to ignore coming across FOUR pieces of crab shell while eating the noodles. Overall, tasty food and great attention to detail on other aspects but those issues loomed over the experience after leaving.

    Such an incredible night!! I’d made the reservation and my girlfriend surprised me and proposed to me with the help of the amazing staff who are always so wonderful every time we go. Thank you for helping create an unforgettable experience for us!! And the food and drinks were outstanding as always!!

    We ordered the chef’s menu - in our case, 8 courses of che’s choice, $175 per person. Good food but not outstanding. Unfortunately the wine list that did not catch our attention either (heavy on Italian wines). The venue has been tastily decorated and reminded us of an speakeasy. Very charming atmosphere but like most places in Vancouver, it was loud. We got the impression they cared more about having our bar seats available for their second round than about making our experience memorable and ensure we would come back. I still recommend to give it a try. It always score high in the rankings so worth it to go and judge by yourselves.

    Overall good restaurant. The meat is short and not too much choices. The service is amazing if you sit on the bar, change your plates and ask for your needs all the time. Food wise, it is a fusion restaurant so if you are Asian who really familiar with Japanese food, it will be a little odd taste for you. Not in a bad way just not what you would expect.

    Outstanding service and food. Justin as the sommelier was exceptional. Simon our waiter was engaging and fun and made the evening for us. The food we had was of fine quality and unique. This place is a must for anyone who wants a first class evening with food and service that matches and accedes your expectations.

    Our dinner at Kissa Tanto was an amazing experience! The food is definitely worthy of a Michelin Star. We had the Oysters, Burrata Salad, Octopus Salad and the Tajarin Pasta topped with freshly shaved White Truffle. The bar manager Avi, gave us great suggestions for cocktails (best we have had in Vancouver), the GM Justin Isidro was super friendly and easy to talk to, and steered us in the right direction with wine pairings for our dinner. Before we left the Chef de Cuisine, Felix Maristany came out and said hello and chatted with us for a bit. All in all the best dining experience we have had so far in Vancouver. Looking forward to going back. Suggestion...sit at the bar!

    My husband and I recently dined at your restaurant, unfortunately our experience was not as enjoyable as we had hoped. When we arrived, we were asked to wait for 15-20 minutes as the bar seat we reserved was not available, and we had to wait for other customers to leave. While we understand that this can happen in a busy restaurant, it was disappointing to have to wait for so long, especially after booking our reservation more than two weeks in advance. Once we were seated, we ordered the Burrata Salad, Duck Breast, and Yaki Onigiri. The Burrata Salad was very beet-heavy and light on the burrata, making for an underwhelming dish. The Duck Breast was overcooked and chewy, which was a significant letdown, especially given its price. The Yaki Onigiri tasted burnt, leaving a bad taste in our mouths and detracting from the dish's other flavors. On the plus side, we found the drinks to be excellent, and the bartender provided us with great service. However, given the subpar food and the price we paid, the overall dining experience was mediocre at best. Additionally, when we tried to cancel our reservation for the following week on February 14th (for which we were going to come in after our wedding for dinner, but decided otherwise), the response we received was less than friendly, which left a sour taste in our mouths. As customers, we had high expectations for our visit to Kissa Tanto, and unfortunately, they were not met. We understand that every restaurant can have an off night, but given the circumstances and price, we expected better. We hope that our feedback will be taken constructively and that future diners will have a more enjoyable experience.

    I was a bit disappointed as I’d heard great things about this place. Starters were beautiful to look at. And the pork chop tasted delicious. Our food wasn’t that warm which could’ve been because it was such a cold night. And we felt that we were rushed out.

    Frankly Underwhelmed. Our server did an excellent job of upselling the Omakase menu and their wine pairing and cocktail suggestions were excellent. 2of our courses had very similar ingredients (omelet and udon pasta) The tobiko bruschetta was delish it’s tuna confit aka:brandade less so Our plates yielded 2 surprises one a hair and one a small piece of dark blue plastic . Not to be expected in a Michelin star. Beautiful decor and curated playlist mostly inaudible from the high level of dining convos.

    Got the tasting menu and for an expensive restaurant it was great value. Really the only nit pick we had with the place was the last plate (before the dessert) was by far the heartiest and we were too full to finish it. If the tasting menu was rearranged just slightly so the biggest meal was not last it probably would not have felt so daunting. Otherwise it was one of the best meals we ever had!

    I can't think of a Restaurant more deserving of multiple Michelin stars. This is by far my favorite restaurant, not only in Vancouver, but in the world, and I have been lucky enough to travel and eat in some incredible places. I cannot recommend Kissa Tanto enough. Definitely try the Tajirin pasta, the wagu is out of this world, and they have this sort of omelette, literally one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten in my life. The chef is a rarity. The service is also unparalleled, truly. Try it out, you won't be sorry!

    The service was a bit pretentious, the food was not mind blowing as with virtually every other Michelin guide restaurant I've been to. Pricing was high for the quality and some of the ingredients mentioned were slightly suspect in nature. Wouldn't likely go back.

    Waited for 20 minutes passed our booking time to get the table. The restaurant did offer us champagne on the house to compensate for the wait. We had the 175/ppl custom omasake experience. Food serving was very slow. Each dish was very soso... one pasta was overcooked. Most dishes too salty. Food choice of the omakase did not have a good variation: We had two dishes of same main ingredients served (eggs and noodles). I don't think the restaurant deserves the Michelin one star.

    We went to Kissa Tanto to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. Definitely on the pricier side but if you are looking for quality food and service I recommend making a visit. My favourite dish was Tajarin.

    Been to Kissa Tanto a handful of times over the last few years and the service was always fantastic, very warm and welcoming. This last visit was the first time service was poor. Examples include waiter tossing the bill on the table in passing while we were still eating dessert (after making us wait way too long before coming to take our dessert orders -so if he felt we were exceeding our time and needed us to clear out fast, then that was entirely on him at that point). He also was pushing us quite hard towards doing a tasting menu (instead of doing a la carte, which is what I have done on all previous visits) without being able to tell us clearly what the tasting menu includes or costs (other than a vague range). Food itself did not disappoint. But due to the service the experience was not what you should expect from a michelin star restaurant, or any restaurant at that price point for that matter.

    Food is amazing. The special of the day Japanese Omelette with Winter Truffle is out of this world. Service is excellent - our server Daniel helped us pair each a la carte dish with a glass of wine or sake. Love the interior too, but wish we were placed the bar or the side of the dining room with lamps. Our side is not as spacious.

    Took my sister for her birthday as a special occasion meal - it didn’t disappoint. The food was so delicious. Our first round had the carne cruda - and I think we could’ve ordered this on repeat. We also ordered the tajarin as my sister had eaten this years ago at Kissa Tanto and she said it was still as amazing as it was back then. The sablefish was our other favourite of the evening along with the chilli mushrooms it was served with 💛 we didn’t have room for dessert but the feature special was an Sakura cannelloni (?) and it sounded great.
