Highly recommend going to a restaurant just for one course 🙌🏻 Couldn’t find a dessert place that opens late so we went to @kumoya_denver instead. We got the gomo dofu (coconut cream with black sesame tofu and rhubarb granita) and corn (corn pudding with sweet cream and sablé). The gomo dofu is amazing - I’ve never had anything like it before. The granita added slight sourness to the tofu and cream and created an absolute show in my mouth, it’s so refreshing and a perfect way the end a meal. The corn is great for satisfying the need to bite into a pastry, while not overly sweet. Absolutely going back for a full meal + the desserts again! What’s your go to dessert after a meal? #denverfoodscene #smallcreator #denverrestaurantweek #japanesecuisine #dessert

Sometimes, a dining experience leaves you at a loss for words—but here I am, trying to capture the magic of Kumoya, Denver’s hidden gem for sushi lovers 🍣🍱.  Let’s talk about the star of the evening: the sushi. Every bite was like poetry. Fresh, delicate, and beautifully plated, it was clear that the chefs at Kumoya treat their craft with the utmost respect. We did the omakase and were blown away by how the flavors danced with each bite. The standouts of the evening? The Bluefin Tuna Toro nigiri, which was buttery beyond belief, and the Salmon with yuzu zest—bright, citrusy, and refreshing. Each piece told its own story, highlighting the quality of the ingredients and the precision of the preparation. Kumoya is the kind of place where you don’t just dine; you experience it. From the first sip of sake to the final bite of sushi, it’s an evening of intentionality, flavor, and connection. If you’re in Denver and haven’t been, consider this your sign to treat yourself 🥰🤤. #denver #explorepage #instagramreels #reels #explore #fun #food #sushi #datenight #thingstodo #drinks

Came during happy hour, reservation for the sushi counter- highly recommend! My favorite was the Udon Noodle and the Bluefin with the Hawaiian seaweed. The service was incredible. We did the Kumoya Omakase, loved every single thing. Our server was Grayson and he was absolutely wonderful.

Small portions but pricey. I’d recommend it if you like a quiet atmosphere, beautiful presentation, and lighter portions—especially if you’re watching your calories.

This is a great restaurant. I have had sashimi in Seoul, New York, Chicago, and of course here in Denver. My usual go to for sushi here in Denver has been Sushi Den for the last 26 years I have lived here, and it really is one of the best. Kumoya is really a breath of fresh air. It does not have the depth of Sushi Den, but how could it? It is a young restaurant, but the menu they do provide is replete with amazing sushi and superb dishes. Kudos to the chef and to the owners of Kumoya. I hope that they will be a permanent part of the Denver restaurant scene. It is the only other Japanese sushi restaurant in Denver I would recommend.

That's too expensive. The food is already really pricey, and then there's an extra 20% service charge

Amazing food, sushi was very high quality. Borderline better sushi than what I had while visiting Japan. Wagyu Tartare was delicious. Service was great. Very thoughtful in accommodating a gluten allergy, bartender made one of the best n/a cocktails my gf has ever had. Would definitely recommend dinning here.

We are especially glad your partner loved the nonalcoholic cocktail. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back for another great meal.

FAQs

KUMOYA is the passion project of renowned sushi chef Corey Baker in collaboration with Max Mackissock, who together shaped the restaurant's kappo-style, seasonal approach.

The Wagyu Tartare is a recurring favorite at KUMOYA, multiple guests call it a highlight, and it appears on the current Kitchen menu.

KUMOYA feels modern and dynamic, an open sushi bar and kitchen, multiple distinct rooms (a bright front with kitchen views and a darker, lantern-lit dining room), and a lively soundtrack on some nights.

Many guests find the servings satisfying, reviewers describe the meal as full and filling, with some saying they were "so stuffed" and even took food home.

Yes, the menu includes multi-course experiences (Kaiseki-style six-course, an eighteen-piece moriawase, and the Kumoya Omakase), and reviewers also mention a bar happy hour with discounted rolls and early-evening deals.

Evenings Sunday through Thursday are a great pick, the bar and lounge run a happy hour there, and weekday visits (including a calm Wednesday) are often quieter.

Yes, KUMOYA repeatedly earns praise for romantic, anniversary and intimate evenings, with omakase experiences, thoughtful hospitality, and at least one darker, moody dining room suited for a special night.

For a quieter visit, midweek evenings, Wednesdays in particular, tend to be calm; for a livelier night, head later when the DJ and bar/lounge bring a more energetic, late-night vibe.

Yes, KUMOYA describes its menu as dynamic and ever-evolving, celebrating seasons and micro-seasons, and guests note the menu changes month to month.

Smart casual is the guide at KUMOYA, think polished but relaxed, and many guests do dress up a touch for anniversaries and special nights.
