Hidden below the buzzing South William Street, in the heart of Dublin’s creative quarter you will find an authentic Italian hidden gem, situated in the original kitchens of Powerscourt Townhouse. Home to a rustic, old school style of dining in an intimate environment, offering those who dine a truly memorable Italian experience. The culinary team at La Cucina ensure that the traditional Italian "Al Forno" cooking technique is utilised throughout the menu. The large open wood burning oven is central to this concept, along with handmade pastas. In essence the food is traditional in taste, modern in presentation, classic in technique and where possible of Irish provenance. Enjoy generous sharing plates of Prosciutto, Bresaolo and Roast Aubergines. Delicious Crab Linguine or Pulled Organic Pork Papardelle for the main can be finished off with an Affogatto or a Cocktail from the excellent list in the comfortable armchairs upstairs in sister bar Farrier & Draper.

Just dreadful. No pizza for starters - and apparently not the first time this has happened. Very poor early bird selection - like an 80s menu choice for Italian restaurants (e.g. Meatball linguini). Ordered steak, but no, they had run out. Prosecco was so flat it didn’t have one bubble (they changed free of charge). Aperol Spritz had one thimbleful of Aperol. I couldn’t wait to leave. Server (Aldo) was a nice guy so not blaming him. I could go on... and talk about the food which had a few issues. Only highlight was dessert which looked like it was pre-prepared (so maybe someone else and not the kitchen!) Never again.

My wife and I had a very nice time. The food was great and they had my favorite Sicilian wine, ie. Nero D’Avola! We will go back. It’s also close to Graffton Street which was nice because we had an event to go to at Louis Vuitton and Christmas shopping to do. Cheers.

Nice food and restaurant. No baby seat for our toddler and steps down to it which was hard with buggy but once in staff were helpful and food was very good.

First time here and really enjoyed it. Nice ambience cave-style, really nice food, very friendly and attentive service without being overbearing, and good value too. Wife and I got away with 3 courses, tea/coffee plus a bottle of wine for €129 not including service which is really hard to achieve these days around that location. Will go back.

Ate here the other night with my wife. The food was bland and with not much flavor. The special was intended to have a spicy flavor but was just like eating tomato paste. Service was slow as they need to hire more staff. Location is nice as well as the atmosphere but not recommended.

The venue is very nice and charming, expecially for a romantic night. Good wine, fast service, nice antipasti and desserts. The only bad note is the Primi. Not quite as the same level of a truly Italian restaurant. Also there were a few grammar mistakes in the menu. It's in general a nice place to try but if your are looking for an authentic Italian place it's not this for sure.

Such a personable team, Matheus greeted us at the door and we were seated and served very quickly. We had arrived for a late booking 10.15pm but we were never made to feel uncomfortable and that we were keeping the team back. Food was excellent we both had specials and they were delicious! Will be returning again and bringing friends next time to boast our great find!

It’s a nice place but we were very disappointed with the starters- no value for money. I had the goat cheese salad- to much rocket leaves very little goat cheese, was almost bitter taste to it. Any homemade goat cheese salad will taste better. The other starter was a Caprese salad- we were looking for the pesto.... main courses were nice but €19 for pasta with mushrooms was a bit pricey for what it is. Will not go there again.

It was my first visit and I was very impressed. My friend and I were meeting for an early dinner and chat. Service from a lovely young lady was excellent. Although she was very busy she was really pleasant and professional. You are very lucky to have her! We had to wait a while for our order to be taken but we didn't mind as she apologised and gave us coffee on the house. A nice touch as we hadn't even complained.
Food was very good. An excellent antipasti plate followed by sea bream for me and pappardelle for my friend. Both were very tasty and very well presented. Good price on wine also. We had a lovely evening and look forward to another visit.

From the time we stepped inside La Cucina to the moment we left, my daughter and myself were treated so well. Greeted on entry with a welcoming smile and our departure from the restaurant to cocktails at the bar was more of the same wonderful service. Excellent menu, delicious food. Decor, ambience La Cucina have brought it all together so well. Oh and their playlist is excellent too 👍👍

That was one of the worst experience I had in any restaurant in Dublin. The manager was telling us that we were not on time while actually we were before time, they didn't mention to me that we have to leave the table just after 1h45 min, while I mentioned during the reservation that it's going to be my husband's birthday. The were trying to take the order very quickly punting a pressure on us. And then when I went to talk to him he was very rude and he told me that this is the usual everywhere and the customer has to leave the table after 1h45min, even if there is an occasion to celebrate. I told him that he is behaving very bad and I have never been treated like that in any restaurant before and he replied to me : "There is a first time to everything". Then he came to our table to say that we cannot stay if we don't leave the table on time". So we left very disappointed. We will never go back there and I'll make to let everyone know about how rude and impolite the manager and the waitress working there they are. It's a shame!!!!!!

I visited La Cucina for the first time on Saturday evening with two old friends. The restaurant is beautiful and the candlelight ambience is perfect. The music is subtle and funky and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. On entering the restaurant we were greeted by the lovely pizza oven only to be informed that pizza is only available on the early bird menu. We continued to be disappointed with the menu, a very limited offering. On being served, the food was a beautifully prepared and delicious, clearly with top quality ingredients but, alas, the portion sizes were so small it really made us feel we were being overcharged.
Top marks for ambience, staff, service and experience. Lovely digestivo on the house before we left. Overall we had a great time but don't think I would return....sorry!
