Hidden below the buzzing South William Street, in the heart of Dublin’s creative quarter you will find an authentic Italian hidden gem, situated in the original kitchens of Powerscourt Townhouse. Home to a rustic, old school style of dining in an intimate environment, offering those who dine a truly memorable Italian experience. The culinary team at La Cucina ensure that the traditional Italian "Al Forno" cooking technique is utilised throughout the menu. The large open wood burning oven is central to this concept, along with handmade pastas. In essence the food is traditional in taste, modern in presentation, classic in technique and where possible of Irish provenance. Enjoy generous sharing plates of Prosciutto, Bresaolo and Roast Aubergines. Delicious Crab Linguine or Pulled Organic Pork Papardelle for the main can be finished off with an Affogatto or a Cocktail from the excellent list in the comfortable armchairs upstairs in sister bar Farrier & Draper.

Everything was fantastic from start to finish apart from dessert. Neither tasted like they were made on site. Will definitely be back!

Have wanted to try this restaurant and I’m so glad I did. We had a party of 5 and was given a nice table that we could chat at in a cosy corner. Menu had a great variety and food and service was excellent, the prices were very good for a top city centre location. Everything was so fresh and presented impeccably. Service wasn’t rushed and we didn’t feel we were the last in the restaurant. Highly recommend it.

Early bird extremely good value and corn the most part delicious. Only thing I wasn’t huge fan of was the walnuts in the risotto, seemed to take away from the flavour. Pizzas were gorgeous and loved affagato to finish off. I thought setting was really cool and staff were lovely!!

Lovely setting, very reasonable, good staff. Live music was excellent but a little too loud. Would be useful to have somewhere to hang coats.

The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the price piont was a bit high for what was on offer. Also the restaurant was quite dead, but that's more so due to the fact we were eating early.

Three of us had lovely meals here last Saturday night. We had to wait over 20 minutes for our table, and the background noise levels were pretty loud, but it was a Saturday, I guess. The food was, as ever, very good, and their wine list is impressive.

A nice little find located below Powerscourt Centre it suited my wife and I. We were treated to a lovely limoncello after our dessert when my wife had mentioned it was our wedding anniversary. I had the pappardelle which was very filling but it wasn't really for me. I had tasted my wife's pizza which was a delicious picante pizza. Great work from the waiting staff and kitchen, and it was a great day and time of year to go since there were only a few tables occupied at the time.

Had a lovely meal and the service was excellent. Great choice of wine by the waiter , food cooked perfectly and we weren’t kept waiting between courses. We sat and chatted and there was no pressure to vacate the table at the end. New favourite.....

Terrible. Staff were rude when we asked to move the table (as the bar hung over the table preventing us from sitting down!). Waited ages to give our drinks order, and food took even longer. Heard another couple complain and leave- should have taken this as a warning! Fire alarm went off multiple times. We were then told the kitchen had a problem and we could only have starters. Then told it was fine. Then told it was still closed. Very unclear and stressful situation and never a proper apology from the manager. We ordered deserts (as we were starving!) which were terrible- avoid the tiramisu and miniature cheese board. We were then told the deserts were cancelled and we were getting main courses- however it was far to late -we had to leave (this was over an hour since we arrived) so we insisted on just the deserts and left. We weren’t charged for the food, but managers and wait staff never apologised to us as we left- just stood there watching us go. Stressful, uncomfortable and unfriendly- wouldn’t return!!

For the amount of food and the quality, the prices were not justified. Service was fine, but wasn't expecting to pay that much for what we got.
Competition provides better, more of it and cheaper

Food was excellent & ambiance lovely but we were annoyed about the fact that we were initially charged approx €100 more than we owed. Charged for dinner menu plus service charge, ie 2 mistakes. When we queried it, bill was adjusted as it should have been the lunch menu & no compulsory service as there were 6 of us. Anyone can make a mistake but it wasn’t that busy. If this hadn’t happened I would have rated the service higher as everything about the restaurant was fabulous.

Love this restaurant for ambience and atmosphere, staff are so friendly and nothing is an issue. The two times I have been I have found the pasta dishes way too salty, that is my only complaint, staters, dessert, setting, staff and price all amazing :)

Had a lovely lunch at La Cucina on Dec 12th. The restaurant looked enchanting, with lots of tasteful Christmas decorations and fairy lights and the staff were really friendly and engaging. Three of us ordered the pasta of the day which was delicious and very good value at 10 euro a plate. We choose a bottle of La Rosa wine to accompany our meal, it too was delicious. We opted for two desserts - Tiramsu and panacotta - both very good. With one coffee and bread the bill came to just under 90 Euro which we thought was good value given the quality of the food and very attentive service. Would recommend.

Just dreadful. No pizza for starters - and apparently not the first time this has happened. Very poor early bird selection - like an 80s menu choice for Italian restaurants (e.g. Meatball linguini). Ordered steak, but no, they had run out. Prosecco was so flat it didn’t have one bubble (they changed free of charge). Aperol Spritz had one thimbleful of Aperol. I couldn’t wait to leave. Server (Aldo) was a nice guy so not blaming him. I could go on... and talk about the food which had a few issues. Only highlight was dessert which looked like it was pre-prepared (so maybe someone else and not the kitchen!) Never again.

My wife and I had a very nice time. The food was great and they had my favorite Sicilian wine, ie. Nero D’Avola! We will go back. It’s also close to Graffton Street which was nice because we had an event to go to at Louis Vuitton and Christmas shopping to do. Cheers.

First time here and really enjoyed it. Nice ambience cave-style, really nice food, very friendly and attentive service without being overbearing, and good value too. Wife and I got away with 3 courses, tea/coffee plus a bottle of wine for €129 not including service which is really hard to achieve these days around that location. Will go back.

Ate here the other night with my wife. The food was bland and with not much flavor. The special was intended to have a spicy flavor but was just like eating tomato paste. Service was slow as they need to hire more staff. Location is nice as well as the atmosphere but not recommended.
