Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

    Nice historic spot, very friendly and welcoming. Our server was very helpful with good recommendations. The Fried Green Tomatoes were great as an appetizer, and the Ricotta Dumplings with mushrooms good as well. The Paneed Rabbit entrée was amazing, however the Triple Tail Fish special was a little flat. All in all a good experience, we'll be back.

    DELISH! Was everything I hoped for and more! Great atmosphere. Had the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Biscuits and Gravy with a Fried Pork Loin - Highly recommend!! Everything was super flavorful and in such a fun area of Magazine Street. Will definitely be on my list for brunch on my next visit to NOLA!

    Wonderful dining experience! We had brunch here last Sunday and the food was fabulous! Beef tartare, shrimp and grits and the blt were all yummy. What a gem!

    Overall this was a good but not exceptional experience The setting a very open dining area with moderate to sl high noise level Service was good but a little stiff and slightly rushed at the beginning but then pace improved. The ricotta dumplings were excellent The blue crab beignet appetizer, we felt was ok but not outstanding The bucatini special was better. The filet was a good cut but not a good value at $62.

    The food was amazing, everything about it. Super enjoyed. The server was kind and knowledgable. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 as my friend's drink wasn't to her liking and if she had been offered to choose a new one, everything would have been perfect. True score 4.89. really great experience and would recommend.

    The food was good. Not as good as I remember in the past. The service was good. The problem was 3 girls at the bar. Employees. Giggling, laughing, and talking to each other, looking at each others phones it was so unprofessional. It really changed the entire dining experience. It felt like I was dining in their high school cafeteria. I don’t think cell phones should be out in a restaurant. They’re filthy, and they to have them laughing and being so loud. It felt more like a chilis experience than a 5 star restaurant.

    Wonderful place for signature food and good portions. Drink menu is expansive and their bartender knows how mix cocktails well. Due to the size and set up it’s not a very private space. We had a large party and tended to have to shout across the table to one another. Not a reason to avoid going, but if you have trouble hearing then just sit back and enjoy the food! Looking forward to our next meal there. Special thanks to our waiter (Joseph) who let us take all the time we needed to enjoy our meal, dessert and coffee.

    I’m fortunate enough to live around the corner so my opinion could be considered jaded. But, I’ve always had a great meal, wonderful service, and an overall excellent experience. With that said, I have a plethora of choices of dining establishments within a five minute walk and La Petite is and has been at the top of my list for years.

    Four of us went to brunch here on a Sunday. Outstanding! Three of us had the Oyster Benedict (great twist on a classic), and one had the B.E.L.T. Everyone ate every bite and raved about it. Our server was very efficient and non-intrusive, but there when you needed her. Can’t wait to return! Highly recommend.

    This was my second visit on this trip to New Orleans. The food, service, ambiance, and cost (relative to comparable restaurants in other major cities) were outstanding. I have eaten at several restaurants in NOLA, and this has always come away as my favorite. If you love great food beautifully prepared and elegantly served, this should be on your list. The blue crab beignets, the gulf shrimp with grits, and the butterscotch pudding are outstanding.

    Food was amazing! Loved the ricotta dumplings (which was a bit too small of an appetizer dish). However our waitress had absolutely no personality and hardly came over. She was the only part that put a damper on the experience. Otherwise restaurant was fabulous!

    We were seated across from the bar which was best considering the other more formal dining section was quite loud and lively. It took about 7 minutes for someone to come over, and she said she wasn't our server but was sure our actual server had explained things to us already, but no, no one had come, a tad bothersome to have to wait that long. Our server finally did introduce himself and thoughtfully explained the specials as well as the standards. Unfortunately though, he wasn't very attentive overall and I found myself standing up to seek him out. It was close to closing, so perhaps he was just over it. Long day and all. But the food. Wow. Soooo good. We started with the blue crab beignets and short ribs. We immediately wanted to order more of both but wanted to be able to enjoy the entrees which were the Burger (my 16 year old says best ever status), the roasted Lamb T-Bonre and Turtle Bolognese followed by Brown Butter Brownie with caramelized popcorn and vanilla bean ice cream. Oh and last but not least, the Julian Demise. A delightful cocktail served in a tahini rimmed snifter made with rum, chili liqueur, mango, allspice, coconut and lime. Our first dining experience in New Orleans. It won't be the last at LPG.

    Great special occasion location. Absolutely wonderful food. The corn-breaded fried oyster appetizer special was a stand out. Also the best shrimp and grits we had in New Orleans. The lamb and chicken were also very good. The menu is not extensive, but every dish is thoughtfully prepared with a delicious melding of flavors.

    Wouldn’t go back. Food was poor, wait staff over-worked, noise level made conversation difficult. No noise buffering material anywhere and large groups loud. Everyone was screaming to be heard. Not a night out we’d anticipated.
