Staff were great! Really enjoyable experience would come again!
Good buzz, great views, tasty food but expensive for what we had
Was rather loud considering how few guests were dining!
I wanted to come to Layla's as soon as I saw a photo in the paper, and it didn't disappoint. I came midweek for a birthday lunch with my dad and was blown away by the views. I loved the interior design, the food was delicious (and generous portions), lovely wine and the service was so friendly and efficient. Would recommend and come again.
The best pizza in Dublin at this moment but the rest of the menu very good also
Lovely view and good value – I would go again. Also, staff were helpful.
Not good value for money. I felt as if I had paid €72 for a pizza, two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a couple of glasses of wine! Atmosphere was good and decor was lovely. Service was not very good - waiter had absolutely no idea about wine (he even told us so!), then had to come back to check our order even though my friend had already gone to confirm it with him as we were not confident he had got it right! It then took at least 15 minutes for our bottle of white wine to arrive! Overall, it was disappointing. For such a fabulous location and venue, the restaurant needs serious looking at by management.
Very enjoyable night with my 2 daughters. We went for tea at 6iclock & left at midnight !! Loved that we were not asked to leave the table when it wasn't required for another booking. A very memorable night & can't wait to return . Staff very attentive also .
Great food and great service. Lift to dining room with great views across Dublin. Tempura prawns and pork belly delicious.
Noisy.Portions very small.Sides extra and expensive.Bad value. We didnt feel welcome.
Nice view. Cosy booths for 4-6. Food good . Pizza nice from the pizza oven. Hake was good too. Steak also good
Service and ambience excellent. Food really good, particularly steaks that were excellent. Food and cocktails over priced however and no sides come with main dish and have to be ordered separately.
The red house wines was a disappointment and should be of a better quality at €7.50.
However I will be back.
Layla’s is on the top floor of the newly opened Devlin Hotel. On entering after getting out of the lifts, our table was not ready , we were about 5-7minutes late, we were seated at the bar to wait. Barman toook our order, I ordered a lime and soda , was told they have no lime cordial , nix that , ordered a Virgin Mary as I was driving. We were seated - stunning views, very attentive waiter. Food was a little bland but hot sauce on buttermilk chicken made up for it. French toast with very little maple syrup. Pizza gloriously delicious.
Our attentive waiter was replaced by a young waiter who hovered trying to take our plates, before we were even done.
Overall, a good place to catch a very quick bite.
Myself and 3 friends went to Layla’s for brunch on New Year’s Day and it was a great way to start off the year. Lovely food and drinks and friendly staff. Will definitely be back again!
Our seat was beside a busy opening door where there was a large draft. We did ask to be moved but understandably it was New Year’s Eve and there where no other seats. The food was great and nice atmosphere. We would come again.
This is a beautiful space with great views. It is such a pity the service is so slow and disjointed.
Nice new addition to Ranelagh. Excellent staff; attentive and made feel welcome. Good selection of drinks and cocktails. Food was poor value however. While being passable in itself, it did not warrant the relatively high price. Not great value, would not recommend for food.
Overall average, won't be rushing back anytime soon.
Lovely views of both the city and the mountains. Menu is a bit limited but what we ordered seemed to please everyone. Our waiter was very helpful and lent his phone charger to my son. We took my parents (in their 70s) and while the menu would not have the options they would usually chose when eating out they did enjoy it. I would book again and definitely recommend it, the prices are reasonable and the interior is very nice. It's not fine dining but casual with interesting surroundings. There is a lovely outdoor seated area with both a smoking and non smoking option and this will be very popular as the warmer weather returns.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. For a few simple reasons. I asked for mayonnaise- they said they “had none” I was cool about it but reminded them there was a Tesco downstairs (next door) initiative anyone? How can a restaurant expect to be taken seriously when they don’t have mayo? The dish I ordered was functional (chicken on a waffle with hot sauce) you get exactly what’s on the tin there was literally nothing else on the plate a hunk of chicken a waffle and sauce it was remarkably naked of any garnish and of anything of interest. Never thought I’d encounter a dull plate featuring seasoned chicken. Hence the request for the elusive mayonnaise.
The food was kinda thrown at us. My bacon was hard as a rock with the French toast and the server didn't give me maple syrup despite is being on the menu for the French toast. The lighting was very poor too. It was quite dark on sat and the lighting wasnt adjusted to compensate. It was extremely busy so I can appreciate that the servers were run off their feet. It wouldn't discourage me from coming again as I previously had a lovely brunch here.
This was our first visit to Laylas and it won't be our last. It had been recommended and it loved up to.our expectations.
Special surprise for the birthday girl also.
The views are unbeatable, combined with a lovely atmosphere and background jazz music.
The brunch was good, but the coffee came 5 min later, which is very weird. The coffee was nothing very special. The service was ok.
I would go back again, but probably for sunset drinks.
The restaurant looks really well, with lovely booths near the windows. However, we were seated at a table between a noisy group of girls who'd been there for a while, and the door to the kitchen. The staff were friendly though didn't know anything about their own wine. I had the prawn and feta pasta dish which was good though could have been hotter. My husband had the fillet steak which he ordered medium rare and which came very rare - black mark to the kitchen if they can't get this basic right. The restaurant wasn't full on the night we were there (Friday after Christmas). We enjoyed the meal, and it's still early days, but there's more work to be done in the kitchen.
Great evening, great food- will definitely return soon
This is my third visit to Layla's in Ranelagh. Great to have such a little gem of a place in the neighbourhood. Whilst the menu is limited , the chef was able to customise mains and desert for my vegan companion. The waiting staff are superb in the restaurant.
Overall a really nice room and friendly staff. The big let-down was the pancakes. Pretty inedible. It's some achievement to make a pancake a child wouldn't eat! If they sort that out, really good.
We booked a table for breakfast on Christmas eve having obtained great reviews etc. about the restaurant however we were disappointed with the service level but the food and ambiance/location was excellent.
The disappointing issues:
1. Loads of staff yet poor service and attention to detail
2. Wait of 25mins for initial drinks order and then the order was wrong
3. When food came out we requested additional items from the front of house who served us but we never returned nor provided the requested items.
Given that it was Christmas eve we did not comment or highlight to the mgt. team as it was the start of the Christmas and festive celebrations, however it was slightly disappointing.
It was wonderful. Really welcoming. Our server was brilliant - plenty of personality and very attentive. Had a prawn starter followed by a pizza. Both excellent. Background music unobtrusive and a great buzz in the place generally. We will return 👍
Service was a bit hit and miss. Food was fab but risotto lunch main is like a starter. Absolutely tiny
Second time to eat at Laylas last night - a party of 5 for 9pm. I like the buzz, like the atmosphere, but the service last night was very very slow indeed. After a long wait for starters (and they are not especially complicated) we then had an extended wait again for mains, and in fact we had to ask 'any likelihood we'll be fed soon'... Plus we had to ask for water a few times. The restaurant didn't seem especially busy, which makes the delays even less understandable.
Food very disappointing, we waited far too long from the time ordered to be served. I had to approach the waitress asking had she she forgotten us, her response was “absolutely not”. However our food arrived immediately afterwards, luke warm & dried out, I suspect she had forgotten. We subsequently ordered cappuccinos, one request was for extra hot, they were both almost cold, we asked for replacements which were served promptly. The setting is lovely, however none of us would return. In fact I have a booking this weekend which I am going to cancel.
Food was good, but a bit pricey for what you get
Really disappointed, staff were uninterested teenagers and food was tasteless, bland and uninteresting. Due to over cooked, unseasoned fatty steak, they gave us 20% off bill..... a table of 6 people, no one enjoyed their meal and we paid 75e each!
Absolutely horrendous. We were excited to try a new place in Ranelagh but yet again having tried a number of the press up venues we were disappointed again... The service was horrendous in Layla’s, the manager/main employee directing people around was appalling. Especially when I heard her give out about staff right beside me, mentioning there names and funny enough she was was wrong the people she mentioned were more accommodating then some of the staff running around. Some didn’t even know the menu and yes they were Restuarant employees! Similar to the above happened last week in the Grayson and also in Roberta’s a few weeks back. Is this always going to be a service by the press up company??? It’s not acceptable. Support your staff, train your staff and you will see the results in-house. I’m not speaking for one person, I’m talking for a multiple of ppl having experienced this service!!
Not good value for money
I attended with 2 friends. All was fine with exception of table between doors, door to restaurant constantly opening caused a draft and there was an additional draft not sure where it was coming from. Being cold is not conducive to a good evening. I’ve been at venue on another occasion when friends were saved there also with the same complaint.
I live the venue but tables between doors do not work. Only possibly on a Summers day.
We were 15 mins late ( due to traffic, bad weather and lack of parking) and were told straight away we only had 1.45 hrs at the table and needed it back by 9... quite abrupt about it, not a nice way to start off an evening.
Didn’t get our starters until 8pm and at 9.10 we were asked if we wanted dessert, we said because we had to vacate the table we’d take the bill. The bill arrived at 9.30! And there was no one waiting to get on to the table!!
I feel they did themselves out of coffees and desserts or possibly another drink, and if the Mâitre d was as under pressure as he said he was under surely more revenue from the table is better than not! Appreciate if the table was being waited for...
Aside from that the food is gorgeous can not fault it, the service was terrific, the girls were superb, it did feel rushed.
We have also eaten in Sophie’s and Roberta’s and we’ve experienced the same problem ie the rush... in particular Roberta’s... shame because it is lovely!
4th time dining here since it opened & it still feels like it’s your first week of business . Staff friendly but all over the place with poor knowledge of menu / wines . Manager seems unable to take observations from customers . Wine list limited and poor . Struggled to find a white wine . Requested the Verdejo ( which I’d had downstairs ) but you won’t serve it upstairs ..... bizarre .
I only returned for subsequent dining as I was with different groups who were keen to try it out .
Had a fantastic at Laylas restaurant, food was fab and the views are amazing. Sharon was a fantastic waitress abd looked after us very well. Definitely be back.
