The food was descent but the service was lackluster.
We celebrated a birthday and it was a very happy one. Food was delicious and plentiful. Service was excellent. Drinks were fun and the Velvet and Rye decor was cool! I highly recommend their Sunday Brunch - nice variety on the menu. Best breakfast potatoes around. Always love their pizza and salads. The Frittata did not disappoint and the Sausage Panini was yummy. The homemade donuts were a real treat for everyone!!
The outdoor oasis tent was super cold and that deterred our experience a bit. However, the service and food were fantastic!
It was cool.
It was okay.
Good service, great food and the Manager was very personable, visible and hands on.
Food was delicious. The ambiance was very nice. Dimly lit. Very nice decor. We throughly enjoyed our meal and drinks. We will definitely return.
We came for brunch. We went to the Loft. The ambiance was amazing, and the food and drinks were on point as well. We will definitely be returning!
Enjoyed the indoor experience with friends! The decor is really cute and trendy, the food was subpar! We ordered crab dip, lamb chops, chicken Alfredo, and salads. The pasta was amazing! They make it in house. The lamb was dry and over cooked! I would go back for pictures and drinks!
Great food and atmosphere! Definitely get the crab dip as an appetizer!
It was amazing. They never disappoint. I cant wait to go back.
Lena's Taste of Italy dining experience is outstanding! Food, wine pairings, and service are all top notch. But we also appreciate Lena's attention to keeping diners and staff safe during this pandemic with their safety protocols, while still making the dining experience special. Keep up the good work!
Kevin the waiter didn’t outstanding job serving us! Thank you for everything
Our waitress was so sweet and the hostess made sure to get us our table we had reserved within minutes. The vibes were amazing on the second floor, so great gatsby like! It was so pretty inside and the food was great. Only complaints I have is that the floors under our table hadn’t been cleaned, I ended up stepping on old gnocchi maybe? It was squishy and beige looking not sure lol.. but the waitress was so sweet even when I had to tell her I wasn’t pleased with their frozen daiquiri. I didn’t know what else to get out of their menu so I asked for a basic pineapple upside down or Bahama mama, well apparently neither are provided there so I opted for a Bellini. Which I only came across after I was accidentally given the brunch menu when it was dinner time but she let me get that because I wasn’t interested in the other drinks. Besides that, the inside was so perfectly lit, the staff was kind and the food came out at a decent time. I’d def come back!
The food was good and the service was excellent.
Velvet and Rye has been done so very well! Truly an event experience that should not be missed!
We love Lena’s and their food and ambience are great. Service yesterday wasnt good. Our server only had one table and restaurant wasn’t very busy but we kept having to get up to ask for refills of water or tea and to request our check.
Good food just dark and could of had a little better service. But great experience for the price point.
Awesome experience and the food was excellent
Fabulous new scene upstairs. We loved it!
Always great food, service, and atmosphere!
Very nice décor and the live music was the added touch!
Lena's is a solid pizza & basic Italian restaurant. Their food is consistently good and the service is consistently outstanding. I really like the new loft area as their other two areas can get crowded and noisy, particularly with children.
Our waitress was not good. She kept disappearing and not checking on us. She agreed to take my birthday cake to the kitchen and that didn’t get done. Then when taking our orders she was looking at us like we were asking too many questions and she could be bothered. She was also not knowledgeable about the menu. Another young lady saved the day though. She was fabulous and stepped in to take care of us. I will come back though. The atmosphere and food are good.
New Year’s Eve special had a much better menu than the regular seasonal.
Food was great as always. We love Lena’s for special occasions or just because it has the pizza in the area. Best Margaritas are served here.
I always love the different themes and the professionalism of staff. Food is great and every person I’ve taken there have loved it.!
New year celebration
They did such an awesome job for New Years Eve! Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, and Jr were very nice to meet and thanked us for coming to their establishment. I’m a regular because the staff and food make a difference.
What a fun New Years!!! The food was excellent! The staff even better! Had such a great time!!
The amazing food was the only thing that saved this review. The service was extremely slow. There was nothing personable about our service. The entire wait staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there or didn’t care that we had a $300 tab. The hostess was very monotone and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, our server seemed like he had every table in the oasis area and was never around. Our kids waited over 30 minutes for another lemonade to be given to them that was thick sour mix and strawberry purée because they were out. (Just say we ran out and offer something different, no big deal) the food came out very fast and was really good overall but the service was some of the worst service we’ve ever had. If it was understaffed due to covid there shouldn’t have been that many tables seated. We made reservations to have a fun girls night out not caring how much money we spent but left feeling extremely disappointed we just spent over $300 for that type of experience. Our ticket time was over 3 hours and most of the time was sitting, waiting for things to be cleared, waiting for boxes or waiting to pay. We got dessert to take home because we were tired of being there. Like I stated before, the good food was the only thing that saved this review.
We came here for a New Year eve dinner and the setting itself was beautiful. The menu was a special 3 course menu with an appetizer, entree and dessert and everything was phenomenal. The service was great and the roaring 20’s theme is by far the best theme to dine in. Highly recommend visiting the Loft before the themes switch.
New Year’s Eve with the kids! Service was spot on, food was great! On a night where service can be rushed we did not feel this way at all. There was plenty of attentive staff, and we all left pleasantly full!
Please keep the Velvet and Rye theme and the live jazz music! One of the best places to go in Alexandria!!
Loved this restaurant will be returning and recommending to family and friends
I gave a “fair” rating for value because $60 for a full service burger and spaghetti, with an appetizer may be just that. The tables could have tipped toward “good” if the appetizer had been served hot (arancini), the Caesar salad (the side I chose for the burger) more appealing (crisper, fresher)-the breadcrumbs were excellent, and we had been seated in the main part of the dining room nearer to the live music. Thus, my rating for “fair” food and an overall “good” experience.
It was our first visit there and we thought the concept was great. I even called to verify the live band would be playing, an indication that that was important to me. I didn’t particularly like being seated way on the other side away from the ambience of the scene. We were also at a table for 4 when we were on a date for 2. I wonder why the intimate two seaters were passed by or why they didn’t choose the comfy looking velvet lounger for us instead of the plastic seats. I didn’t complain about anything and do realize that asking for another table probably would have worked, but I didn’t want to disrupt the date. I did ask where the band would be as we arrived before their set started, and based on the pointing, I thought they’d be in the open area nearer to us.
Service was great. Lena’s won here. I appreciated our server and the food did come quickly (shout out to the kitchen). When we asked where the restrooms were the first vague instruction from an employee landed us at the hostess stand, but the manager on duty walked us back into main dining and made sure we saw where we were supposed to go; I appreciated that.
Overall, this was just one experience; I think the team did okay and there is room for growth to knock a fantastic concept such as this out of the park. Leaning over to try getting glimpses of the band over cool arancini from my plastic chair was not my jam.
On the other hand, the elevator’s library theme was fantastic as were the lush drapes and birdcage in the lobby.
