Located in the historic district, Lewes Oyster House honors the rich heritage of ubiquitous and democratic oyster consumption in 18th and 19th century Middle Atlantic taverns and oyster houses. We serve inspired tavern fare, expertly prepared with fresh, regionally-sourced ingredients along with crisp lagers, interesting wines, and artisanal cocktails. All that, and a whole lot of love.

Please join us for lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays in the Tap Room, Oyster Bar or Main Bar. We do not accept reservations for lunch.

Walk-ins for dinner are always welcome first-come first-served at the Oyster and Main bar areas, all evening long beginning at 5 p.m.

Online reservations for dinner are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for the Walsh Room and Tap Room.

    This was our third time dining here. Staff is not the friendliest but service was adequate and food and cocktails were excellent.

    I booked a table for 5 people at least a month in advance on open Table for Sunday, September 8. I confirmed the reservation through Open Table the day before. On Sunday, we parked in Lewes and walked to the restaurant and were shocked to see that the restaurant was CLOSED on Sundays! I was so embarrassed… I should have gotten a call or a direct text to my phone number from the restaurant. All they did was to leave me a message on Open Table - which is basically useless as I would never think to check messages on Open Table!

    Fantastic food and great service. We started with the smoked oysters, and the peach and heirloom tomato salad, and both were amazing. My wife had the Halibut and I had the rockfish. We ended the night with the corn dessert, and it was delicious.

    This restaurant cares. If any small issue arises, they always fix it. The wait staff is professional. The food is great and interesting. Baked oysters are outstanding (try Low Tide) and the boardwalk fries with lobster is unique and outstanding. Food is fresh. Also, they have the best burger in Lewes for non-seafood fans.

    Have eaten here many times before but this time was very disappointed. Calamari appetizer is now much smaller, mixed with lots of fried banana peppers and the breading fell off. Not enough calamari pieces for the price. Monkfish entree was extremely disappointing, small overcooked piece of fish on a bowl of chowder for $40. The shish-kabob was terrible. The lamb pieces were overcooked and chewy and the “prawns” were very small shrimp completely overcooked and inedible. Supposed to include cucumber and tomato salad on the side, no cucumber, just tomato and onion. Only good entree was the hangar steak. Is there a new chef? First time having poor quality food here.

    Hey Joann, this is Tom, one of the owners. Sorry you had a bad experience yesterday. We will make sure to check with our team to ensure we are doing our best to properly prepare and prep each dish you mentioned. We have notchanged the recipe for the calamari as it has always been mixed with banana peppers. As for the kabab and the monkfish, looks like we just missed the mark last night. Both myself and Chef Sean were running around checking on tables so we would have been happy to make you something new. We hope to make it up to you on your next visit. Feel free to shoot me a message so either Chef Sean or myself can come talk to you next time you're in.

    Lewes Oyster House was fantastic. We tried a few different appetizers and entrees, which were all delicious. They even made a custom pasta dish for someone in our group. Service was top notch and cocktails were great. Will definitely be back!
