Lobstar Ratings and Reviews
Lobster is a great restaurant using the best of ingredients to produce top quality dishes beautifully presented. We shared scallops starter and mango and fennel salad between the two of us and then had the salmon and sea bream - all excellent dishes. Fantastic staff, very friendly and happy and pace of bringing out the food was perfect. Small restaurant and can be a bit noisy.
It was fine if not outstanding. The staff very nice. Starters (mussels for me, tuna poke for my friend) were very tasty. The main courses were small portions. It's pretty noisy, a lot of hard surfaces, and the lighting is too bright.
Good wine list.
I'd probably go there again, but I'm not in a hurry to.
Thanks alot again, Veronika and Zsolt, for this unforgotabel evening at LOBSTAR! The excellent dinner and your warm hosting were great. Also we loved the friendly and funny atmosphere.
We wish you all the best and hope to see you once again!

Lobstar simply blew my mind. I was searching for restaurants that serve lobster in Dublin for my boyfriend's birthday. At first I didn't want to go to Monkstown as it wasn't convenient, but the website and the menu convinced me. I'm so happy I picked this place eventually! Had an amazing experience, and enjoyed every bite. Everything is just in a perfect balance, the flavours, the place, the service. There are so many things that skip restaurateurs minds that affect the customer experience. These guys just have it all and master even the small touches with ease and perfectionism. I will be back for sure. Definitely recommend to all.
I have dined at Lobstar a number of times in recent months . It is one of the finest restaurants in Dublin . The menu , cooking , ingredients are superb . The front of house team are welcoming , knowledgable and warmly efficient . The wine list is excellent , augmented by the fine Hungarian Tokai ! And the oysters always exquisite ..
The ambience is warm, cheerful , always buzzy . I have introduced a few friends and relations to Lobstar and without exception they have either returned enthusiastically or plan to as soon as possible .
I for one will keep returning . We are blessed to have such a fine dining experience in South Co Dublin . Congratulations to owners and staff alike .
Lovely restaurant, fantastic staff , only disappointment was my main dish which was described as: New York Style Lobster Roll
lime mayo, spring onion, hazelnut, fennel and mango salad, twice cooked fries
which was actually a white hot dog roll with a lobster filling which I scooped out.
My friend and I thought it would have been along the lines of a sushi style roll and it was just a weird combination. Lobster hot dog perhaps?!
Other than that the other dishes in the group were delicious.
just took chance and decided to try this restaurant out. Found it to be a really lovely friendly place to eat. We decided on early bird as on the evening in question it had everything we wanted to eat. However, if we were going for a special occasion or for longer outing there were lots of choices on the a la carteThe service was friendly and faultless and the bill was very reasonable for what we had - the bread is to die for! Finally despite selecting the early bird we were never aware of having to rush or leave at a certain time
Lovely local restaurant run by a hard working young couple and their team. Lobster is the theme and it is served in all manner of ways but there are plenty of other delicious things on the menu making it very difficult to choose!
The wine list is concise but excellent and particularly good value.
We loved our night at Lobstar. Excellent food, super tasty. No complaints at all. Excellent treatment of good quality produce. Very good Rioja wine on the wine list as well. In all a super night, have already recommended to friends and will definitely come back.
I'd heard a bit about Lobstar in the press and was looking forward to going. The room is a narrow space that could offer itself to intimacy and warmth but has missed the mark due to the decor used. It's all too New York hipster and a little too predictable. It's like wearing a check shirt and a having a bushy, manicured beard is to men's fashion these days: it's a follower not a leader. The use of tiles and hard surfaces takes the room from buzzy to clattery. It's all very of the minute and as a result is a little lacking in personality and charm. The food was good, though my main dish of sea trout was a tad over cooked and my wife's lobster roll while tasty lacked a little zest. Don't get me wrong, it was all quite edible, but nothing out of the ordinary. To be fair, you can see that their heart is in it and the food is reasonably priced for what you get, as is the wine. Would I go back? I might, but there's an awful lot of restaurants I haven't been to yet. As for the supreme fish restaurant, well, the hunt goes on.
Lobstar is small - maybe as few as 20 covers, so you'll want to book. It's nicely done - doesn't feel crowded, although when it's full, it is - liked the tiles on the wall very much - just a hint of fishmonger or butcher to it, which reflects what's on the menu. Simple menu - lobster and/or steak (although there are one or two fish alternatives) with chips. The parmesan and truffle chips are extraordinary - and the smell pervades the entire place. The lobster is, well, lobster - fresh, grilled, as you'd hope it would be, and the claw meat tasted of sea, which, to me, implied it had been there quite recently. The steak - we had the fillet - was genuinely tremendous. Really, really good meat, cooked very well - I like mine with a hint of 'moo' remaining, and they got it bang on the money. Felt properly carnivorous. Service had a family feel to it - it's slightly rough around the edges - but none the worse for that. Final comment merited by the tuna starter - raw chunks of tuna marinated in, amongst other things, child and sesame oil, served chilled. I've been having dreams about it.
A hidden gem in The hear of Monkstown. We simply loved everything about Lobstar. The food was outstanding, excellent friendly service and sophisticated yet casual and cozy atmosphere. The place isn't big (30 seats or so) so reservations are a must. The ahi tuna was our favourite, the steak tasty and well cooked, loved the truffle mayo and cheese chips as a side, the lobster was full of flavour, everything was beautifully presented. Good wine selection. We will be definitely coming regularly.
The food was very good..nicely cooked and very tasty. My only issue would be some of the food could have been warmer. Service was professional, efficient and very friendly. It was my birthday and the waiting staff discovered and marked it with the dessert. There was a nice ambience. I will return and would recommend..was an enjoyable and pleasant experience overall.
