Lobstar Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Lobstar three times and have been impressed on every occasion. The front of house staff are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient and the back of house people produce some memorable tasty and generous portioned food that is great value for money especially if you have the early bird menu. We will definitely be back for more! Having tried all the restaurants on Monkstown this is the best!
Met up with some friends that we haven't seen in quite a while. Lobstar ticked all the boxes, excellent food with a good choice on the menu including meat for the non fishy diet requirements, good wine selection, friendly staff and a great buzzy ambience . Would definitely eat here again.
warm staff. all the food was good and they were accommodating to my daughter Claire 5. lobster roll as every good but the open mushroom ravioli surprised on the upside also. they don't advertise kids menu but did a very healthy half portion fish and chips and it was lovely.
The quality of the ingredients in Lobster, the manner in which the food is cooked and presented coupled with outstanding service make Lobster a special place. On the evening I was there, I had the scallops a special ray wing dish both of which were outstanding. The staff are so friendly, helpful and professional. The only negative is that it can be a bit noisy. I love the place and will keep gong back.
First time going there. Really small impeccable restaurant with incredibly polite staff and truly excellent food. Tuna Poke and Oysters for starters were sublime. Whole split ‘lobstar’ was cooked perfectly and just the right size. Can not fault it, it’s excellent.
This is a lovely small restaurant with the most charming and professional staff. We went there for an early bird last Monday and we were completely blown over by the very high standard of the food, both quality and quantity. We started with ahi tuna poke which was of the very highest quality and beautifully presented. It was melt-in-the-mouth perfect. The mussels in saffron flavoured broth was a generous and tasty portion of very high grade mussels. The half lobster again was a generous portion and perfectly cooked and the lobster brioche roll was small but full of flavour. The truffle and parmesan fries that came with the lobster were truly amazing Wine list is small but covers a lot both in terms of variety and price. All of this plus a very decent bottle of Hungarian wine came to €95 including a tip. That's a real bargain for food at this level and we will most definitely be back, and soon.
What a tasty feed!!!! Pricey but well worth it!!
Top notch service.
Red pepper puree/sauce with the Lobster Ravioli.
Cook on the lobster.
The Black Angus Dry Aged 8oz Fillet.
The popping candy.
The fact that the ravioli was deconstructed. Bit of a cop out.
Lobster is a great restaurant using the best of ingredients to produce top quality dishes beautifully presented. We shared scallops starter and mango and fennel salad between the two of us and then had the salmon and sea bream - all excellent dishes. Fantastic staff, very friendly and happy and pace of bringing out the food was perfect. Small restaurant and can be a bit noisy.
It was fine if not outstanding. The staff very nice. Starters (mussels for me, tuna poke for my friend) were very tasty. The main courses were small portions. It's pretty noisy, a lot of hard surfaces, and the lighting is too bright.
Good wine list.
I'd probably go there again, but I'm not in a hurry to.
Thanks alot again, Veronika and Zsolt, for this unforgotabel evening at LOBSTAR! The excellent dinner and your warm hosting were great. Also we loved the friendly and funny atmosphere.
We wish you all the best and hope to see you once again!

Lobstar simply blew my mind. I was searching for restaurants that serve lobster in Dublin for my boyfriend's birthday. At first I didn't want to go to Monkstown as it wasn't convenient, but the website and the menu convinced me. I'm so happy I picked this place eventually! Had an amazing experience, and enjoyed every bite. Everything is just in a perfect balance, the flavours, the place, the service. There are so many things that skip restaurateurs minds that affect the customer experience. These guys just have it all and master even the small touches with ease and perfectionism. I will be back for sure. Definitely recommend to all.
I have dined at Lobstar a number of times in recent months . It is one of the finest restaurants in Dublin . The menu , cooking , ingredients are superb . The front of house team are welcoming , knowledgable and warmly efficient . The wine list is excellent , augmented by the fine Hungarian Tokai ! And the oysters always exquisite ..
The ambience is warm, cheerful , always buzzy . I have introduced a few friends and relations to Lobstar and without exception they have either returned enthusiastically or plan to as soon as possible .
I for one will keep returning . We are blessed to have such a fine dining experience in South Co Dublin . Congratulations to owners and staff alike .
Lovely restaurant, fantastic staff , only disappointment was my main dish which was described as: New York Style Lobster Roll
lime mayo, spring onion, hazelnut, fennel and mango salad, twice cooked fries
which was actually a white hot dog roll with a lobster filling which I scooped out.
My friend and I thought it would have been along the lines of a sushi style roll and it was just a weird combination. Lobster hot dog perhaps?!
Other than that the other dishes in the group were delicious.
