Literally one of the BEST MEXICAN DINNERS I have had in San Diego till date‼️ Follow @jas_thefoodie and run dont walk to @los_amores_dejulia which is a NEW MEXICAN RESTAURANT that just opened in Gaslamp, that will transport you straight to Mexico 🇲🇽 serving authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine along with the BEST COCKTAILS (and Mocktails) ‼️ Not to forget the FRESH HANDMADE TORTILLAS and LIVE MARIACHI 🤩💃🎸 I absolutely LOVED the whole experience here and they also have a Speakeasy hidden behind their gift shop 👀 You must try their Fish Tacos, The Sweet & Spicy Shrimp appetizer, Ceviche Negeo and the Molcajete! My top favorites on their menu but honestly everything we tried was better than the other 👌🏻🤩 I cant wait to go back!!! Do check their page for their daily specials and check it out 🔜 💕 📍425 Island Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 #sandiegorestaurants #sandiegofood #eatsandiego

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Los Amores de Julia in San Diego boasts "gorgeous decor" and an authentic Mexican vibe. Guests appreciate the "great customer service" and "delicious food," especially the handmade tortillas. While the atmosphere is lively with mariachi performances, service pacing needs improvement. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.

The restaurant is beautiful, we love the culture they share. The food and drinks are delicious. The service it was horrible. They had only one waiter for the entire restaurant. The manager that was on site, she should’ve helped, but instead she was to busy looking at her phone, or the tablet that she had in front of her.

I don’t even know where to begin! This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I can confidently say it will be my last. The service was absolutely terrible! We waited nearly 30 minutes just to get our drinks. Our waiter was rude and unprofessional, and when I asked to speak with the manager, she seemed completely clueless and unable to address our concerns. To make matters worse, the food was extremely disappointing. As a Mexican myself, I can honestly say this food is nowhere near authentic Mexican cuisine. The flavors, quality, and overall experience were simply not worth the money. The prices are ridiculously high for the quality of food and level of service they provide. If you’re going to charge those prices, at least make sure your customers receive good food and decent service. Overpriced, terrible customer service, and disappointing food. I definitely do not recommend this place, and I will NEVER be returning!

The food, waiter and decor throughout the restaurant were good. The service from the hostess and manager lady were not that great. The AC wasn’t working and the mariachi cancelled. Will prob not return in the future.

We made reservations because we were told that Mariachis will be singing/playing live music. When we arrived, we were told that there was no Mariachi and the Mariachi has been cancel for a full month. Additionally, I had Bisteck Ranchero and it came cold and didn't taste good. Furthermore, the front ladies are not nice, warmth nor welcoming! They have a ship on their shoulder, and they're not accommodating at all. We requested a different table because we didn't want to be squeezed-in (the next tables on both side were super close -kid of rubbing elbows) Ladies at the front are rude and they have to work on their customer service skills; terrible hostess. The server lady was nice, yet she sounded fake; she over did it; and we had to request chips as she forgotten to bring chips to our table. Not a good experience. We drove 30 minutes for this experience; I don't think I will come back

Food was good overall, however the service is slow. It took our waiter more than 10 min after being seated to ask if we wanted anything to drink and to bring water. It seems there is no AC, it was really hot inside. Ordered the poblano chilaquiles, the sauce was good but the temperature of the food was cold already. Cafe de la olla was good too. Hostess staff were nice and provided good service. The waiter service on the other hand needs to be improved in my opinion.

Highly disappointing experience. Vegetarians should be wary of eating anything here and their servers need to be aware that dietary restrictions should be understood. We were served multiple items with pork, with no explanation, despite saying we have vegetarian requirements multiple times. Also incredibly loud and not difficult to hear anything.

Food, drinks, and service was great. The only bad thing was that it was really hot in there, even with the door open.
