a welcome change to most of the Indian food easily found in London. Can't wait to go back.
We had a strange experience, we walked in at 6pm to mostly empty resturant (only 2 tables occupied), was told there were no tables without reservations. Went outside and booked on Opentable (all times available), walked backed in and was told a table cancelled and we were seated. When we finished the restuarant was still empty.
Eater named them #4 on the June 2019 hottest new places in London list. I see why. FANTASTIC take on northern Indian food.
Promising start but ....
The starters were delicious but the mains were a bit of a disappointment. The desserts were tiny portions too and generally it was a bit over priced. It's in an expensive area of London so the prices weren't a shock just not great value for money. The indian food market is well catered for and there are loads better than this - Benares, Dishoom, Tayyabs.....
Also, my mum is from Lucknow and she didnt say it was a fair reflection of the area. Sorry.
Great food packed with delicious flavors. We were a party of four and shared different plates which all tasted wonderful. The service was excellent and the ambiance lively and trendy.
Excellent service, very friendly and almost homely in style. Food tasted great, but portion wise was much smaller than local competitors and given the limited menu, it was a bit surprising. However, overall it was a very good experience.
We loved being at Lucknow!
The atmosphere is so cozy and the food ist fantastic! We were welcomed very friendly and service was on point!
Will return anytime when we‘re back in London!
Outstanding food. Brilliant flavours. Attentive service. The portions are a tad on the smaller side but well worth it for the special occasion!! The flavours are very unique. Sublime.
Outstanding meal at a great value, with friendly and accommodating staff.
Like eating at home, if your home is in Lucknow. So comfortable and such good food.
Compact but delicious menu. Each item we ordered was fantastic for what it was. Only a confident chef can pull this off
Was excited about trying this place after reading reviews. Starter was good but small for the price. Mains arrived an hour after ordering, one dish was wrong and the other lukewarm, neither that special. Not great quality meat in the dishes and not much of it either. Not sure what this place is trying to be but there are so many better options in the same area.
Was very excited to taste food from my city, but apart from the name at the door and some posters, didn’t find the food itself to be anything close to Lucknowvi food. Very disappointed by the taste and portion size both. Quiet pricey to be served 3 pieces in amb curry for 16pounds. As per the chef they have adapted to the local market in terms of taste and texture. A sad thing when you claim to cuisine of a certain place. Lucknow food is known for it flavours and mildness of textures. Sadly the restaurant didn’t do any justice to the cuisine. Too pricey too disappointing
Cute and affordable place in Mayfair serving up really good food. Particularly loved their Lamb Chops!
One of the best meals we had in London! The flavours were outstanding, really delicious!
Said it was birthday and no body bothered sending a small token gesture eg dessert platter to mark it. Chops were v red & raw and staff during actual meal were not attentive enough. Not a great experience especially for a birthday. No ambience at all and decor very drab. Place too small for comfortable dining
Great galawat kebab, aloo tikki chat and lamb biryani
Found the food fairly mediocre. The chicken biryani was unfortunately a disappointment, and the vegetarian version had been taken off the menu so choice was limited for the vegetarians in the group. The starters and sides were good but there was a lack of options for dessert (including no simple option of ice-cream/sorbet/kulfi). The wine list was very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. Bit of a mixed experience - morning terrible to say but I thinks return visit is unlikely.
The menu is kept simple with only a few dishes, but they are absolutely outstandingly done. Each fork delivers a new flavour, giving your tastebuds an entirely new experience.
The servers are extremely attentive and friendly.
After ordering two appetisers to share, we were offered a complimentary extra dish, as the manager deemed the waiting time too long. This really shows their attentiveness and willingness to create an amazing dining experience for their customers.
I would not hesitate to go back.
I think the place is well meaning but definitely over hyped. I booked Lucknow49 for a much anticipated team dinner with great expectations. We were sadly let down. A first look at the restaurant with 3 garbage bags bang outside the so called fine dining restaurant spoilt the image for us. Once inside, the place was quite small, though ambience was ok. The food was of mixed quality. The chicken starter and galouti kebab were good but the vegetarian dahi bhalla starter was disappointing with the bhalla being hard and probably not fresh. The curry portions in the mains were ridiculously small and in general portion sizes were smaller than average given that the restaurant is not cheap. Food overall was ok but nothing exceptional. Our bill was messed up with the waitress charging wrong amount on card which then had to be corrected. Overall a very average dining experience and in my view there are far better restaurants for the price they charge.
Lovely biryani, bhindi, dal and kulchas. Chaat was a bit soggy and gobi both raw and tasteless. However can't fault the service, attention to detail, kindness and graciousness of the staff, they sorted out any issues with the food and it was overall a fab birthday meal for my mum. Definitely would go back.
Food was delicious and the staff were incredible. We were fasting so they provided dates and made sure we were given our food promptly once we broke our fast. Highly recommend!
Tikka and quorma good but other dishes like goat biyrani and a few of the starters two sweet and/ or unappetising. Also naan was not fluffy as you’d expect but oily and chewy.
From the start the staff were lovely - friendly and welcoming. Food was all delicious ( goat biriani, lamb curry) - loved the design of the room
Great food, ambience fantastic and service could not be better.
Amazing food. Best curry i have had so far in London.
Amazing food and service
Just perfect. Food dessert must try. Ambience is perfect for the cuisine. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Great atmosphere, staff very kind and food delicious
Food tasted very authentic- kudos to the Chef!
Lovely ambience and super helpful staff.
There are far better Indian restaurants at this price point. I had high hopes for this new establishment, sadly was very let down. The food was average, they ran out of certain alcohols so mix drinks were out of the question. Our tables didn't even line up so our party of 6 didn't even have a good seating experience. I am not impressed with this newcomer!
The food is good but we found it a bit on a heavier(read greasy) side. But that’s how Mughlai insipired food is and we knew it. The starters we ordered were excellent. Both paapri chaat and chicken kebab infused with saffron. The Taar Ghost curry and kulcha were good. I found the Biryani a bit dry and the meat lacked moisture. The flavour was just ok. And the disaster was kulfi the dessert we ordered. It was so hard and inedible. We could hardly put our spoons in. It was melting into liquid on the sides and we didn’t really feel we were eating kulfi. We even mentioned this to the waiter politely. There was no offer to either replace it or not charge for such a terrible, inedible kulfi. Overall I would give it a 3/5.
Strictly average experience. The food portions were quite small and greasy and the service was very ordinary. Very limited menu as well. Lastly, they could not accommodate the simplest of requests to make us comfortable. Food is tasty but there are other better options in London.
One of the best Indian restaurants in London! Authentic food.
Not a great first impression! Sadly first and the last!! Very crammed seating and sub standard customer service. There are plenty of better restaurants with great food around!!
The menu really needs to be larger. The food was fine, but not exceptional. With so many other choices at this price point...
Meat lovers delight!
The food is the main highlight. Melt in the mouth kebabs accompanied by the most tender meat in almost all the dishes, fragrant biryani, buttery kulchas.. everything was divine and reminded of the authentic taste from streets of Lucknow. Combined with great service, atmosphere and central location, this is definitely a must recommend restaurant in London.
Incredible dining experience - great service, food and ambiance.
