   The food was pleasant, we were seated way before our actual reservation time and had a beautiful intimate seat on the patio right under the heater. Lovely night, lovely food. Wonderful mocktails!

   Made reservations for 4 and took about 35 minutes for us to be seated. Service was slow and the manager had to come over to help our waitress, thankfully. Food and drinks and ambiance were great. Just a little slow on seating and service, but it was a busy Saturday night.

   Difficult to have a conversation due to the live music. Perhaps if it had been in a more open area it might have been better. The food was tasty but service was slow and we had some problems. We had to flag down our server about 15 min. after one beverage was sent to the table in order to get the other. No one checked on us for about 30 min. at which point a different server dropped off the two plates. One was incorrect. He apologized and took the plate back. Between five and ten minutes late the original server brought back the wrong dish (same plate) and tried to serve it. Again, we said it wasn’t what was ordered. My meal was finished by the time my son’s meal arrived. The manager did come over to apologize, had our beverages refilled before the correct dish arrived.

   O'Neill, our server (I apologize if spelled wrong), was terrific! Brunch music was nice, but too loud. Couldn't hear those across the table from me talking. Need sound-absorbing materials to combat that. Will not return because of that issue. It doesn't make sense to spend money to have brunch with friends when you can't hear them.

    3/22/23 Beautiful atmosphere. Went for dinner at 6:00 pm and were headed to Knights theater directly across the street for 7:30 curtain. An hour and a half certainly enough time to enjoy a relaxed meal. We ordered our food, an appetizer and an entree to share. We received our app and literally 30 minutes later were told they no longer had the entree we ordered. We decided to share the Foie gras. It was ABSOLUTELY delicious but for 25 dollars, it was the size of 1/3 of a cocktail napkin. We decided we definitely had room for dessert so asked for the menus. Unfortunately we didn’t see our waiter again for another 12 min or so, so we didn’t have time to order dessert because we had to get to the theatre. It was only because I called out his name for the check that he even came back to the table. So tho the ambiance and food were wonderful, the experience itself not so much so…

    We had our second meal at Mariposa before a show at the Knight theater this week. Our service was excellent (thank you Jade). We started with the mezzo board, which includes a delicious Tzatziki and incredibly smooth humus. Like all the dishes at Mariposa it was beautifully presented. We next split the tuna crudo which was delicious but VERY spicy. Without bread to counteract the burn from the peppers I wasn't able to enjoy the dish as much as I would have hoped. (not eating the peppers helped but its still pretty spicy). and for our main courses we enjoyed the beef short ribs (very tender) and the Fall Squash Lasagna which had an interesting dash of citrus to it. (enough for two people). As always the food at Mariposa is a celebration of flavors. I am returning again in April and hope there may be some new additions to the menu. The menu is limited in its options so I hope the chef will consider some updates for the spring as this restaurant never disappoints and is the perfect spot for a pre-dinner show.

    We made our first visit to Mariposa to see the Picasso landscapes….but it will NOT be our last! The food was delicious and SO EYE APPEALING, a fantastic fusion of taste, color and verve! I had my first lamb burger and my husband really enjoyed the fish and chips. Desserts (we swapped midway through) were a Mediterranean chocolate tart and a French trifle…unbelievable!! More than the food, everyone working there was so kind, attentive and seemed genuinely happy to be where they were. A rare jewel in uptown Charlotte! Can’t wait to go back for another lunch…or brunch on the weekend…or dinner!

    We visited the Picasso exhibit. When I called to make the reservations. I informed the hostess that one of our party was celebrating a birthday. She said, just inform your server and she will put a candle in whatever the birthday boy wanted for desert. The server picked up the dishes and never asked if we wanted desert. She presented the check. At which point, I asked what was being offered. Bottom line, it was awkward Finally got the cake with candle. I ordered a Cobb salad, it had a hard boiled egg that wasn’t. Maybe that is “the way” to serve it. For it was gross to have A runny center. Yuk!

    Beautiful restaurant space, and amazing service. The greeter got us a table that accommodated our needs and was very gracious in doing so. The food was good, but there is a slight room for improvement. Overall a good experience, and will definitely be back!

    Great food prepared exceptionally. My only lament is that it was not enough food for price. My wife had paella and this was just one piece of fish about the size of a mini chocolate bar. A few shrimp and it did have oysters but a couple more shrimp and a couple more pieces of fish would have made the disk, especially at that price point. So I would rate that dish a B. Pork Belly Bulgogi was also great dish, could have had a little more, not a lot, just another strip or two would have been nice. Pulled Duck Arepas were great too, and just a little bit more would have been nice but it was better portioned than the previous two dishes. The best portioned dish in my opinion was the Chipotle Crusted Short Ribs. Great flavor and portioned appropriately. Desert was fine too. So here is my rating. Service A, Food A Value C

    O'Neil was a great server and we enjoyed a fantastic meal. The papillon mocktail was one of the best mocktails that I've ever had. The ambiance was great, and I love how the Mint is open later on Fridays so we could tour the galleries and then sit down for an 8:15PM dinner!

    Overall it was good. Did expect a little more info about what we were having since it’s tied to the Mint and advertised as a culinary experience. Has the bells but no whistle. Two small shareables, one large shareable, four cocktails, and dessert. $210 with tip for two people

    We had happy hour here one day and the food and drinks were amazing. Highly recommend the pork belly lettuce wraps. Bisous Papillion is a nice non-alcoholic drink. We went back for a Sunday Brunch and the Chicken Biscuit sandwich for brunch was very good. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was amazing! The Shakshuka was good, I recommend adding grilled shrimp. This dish could use another slice of toasted bread and the eggs got lost in the sauce, I'd have preferred mine cooked more and not so runny. Both the chicken biscuit and the Shakshuka were a bit spicy, which were fine for me and my dining companion, but just a note for others. I didn't care for the Bloody Mary, it was only hot (super hot, as if with cayenne) and lacked any other flavor such as horseradish, Worcestershire, etc. I'm from Texas, so I like things spicy, but this wasn't good IMHO although I understand they're popular so others might like it.

    We enjoyed the jazz brunch. We were sat quickly and where we requested. I love the decor and ambience of the room. We had an 11:00AM jazz brunch reservation and the music didn't start playing until 11:45AM so we missed most of it. The cocktails were very good. Both of our eggs were overcooked in our food, but the food itself tasted good. I just like to have a slightly runny egg in my shakshuka and it was fully cooked, as was my husband's in his avocado bowl. The portions were also on the smaller side. I will probably not return for food or jazz brunch, but I would come back for a cocktail at the bar and the ambience of sitting outside potentially! The server and manager were great and kept checking on us, which we very much appreciated.
