Menagerie Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Bland food. Rubbish music that kept stopping. No enteratainment from 4-7pm on Sunday even though the website says from 4. Stressy waitresses. It was a special occasion for my boyfriends birthday and expected a lot more! Nice decor would only go back for a drink at a push but don't bother for food there's lots and lots of places in Manchester which serve beautiful food, Neighbourhood, Tattu, Australasia etc
I booked here on Open Table 5-6 weeks ago for my birthday night out. I did actually email them directly and did not get a response. When we arrived we were placed on a booth, which was more near the bar than the catwalk, so this was disappointing. We ordered our drinks with the waitress, who was very rude and not attentive. We was then approached by a man who said that we had to spend the deposit on food. Neither me or my friends were hungry and I explained that we booked the table of the presumption that it was for drinks, I mean come on, why would anyone want a sit down meal at 10.30pm?! I replied that we didn't really want food and if we could spend it on drinks or get our deposits back. He replied no and said that the deposits was non-refundable. This was not explained on the phone. After much deliberation, me and my friends reluctantly ordered food. The waitress told us that we could spend the £15 deposit on drinks. We explained that we was told differently and decided not order any more after being told different things. Whilst waiting, another waiter went to take our cutlery and we had to explain that we had ordered food. He then slammed the cutlery back down. Another case of miscommunication. We was not impressed with what was served. The chips that came were undercooked and soggy! The rude waitress and another waiter came and took our plates away very in a rudely manner, pretty much snatched the plates! As soon as we eaten we asked for the bill and left, which was again taken by the rude waitress who looked at the lack of tip in disgust clearly written on her face and left. May I add, in regards to entertainment, we saw on girl dance on the catwalk for approx. 2 mins to one song. World class entertainment they claim and ask for £5pp on top of the bill? I think not. Overall, if your wanting to spend your night out at pretentious bar for pretty Instagram and snapchat photos, then this is the place to go. We will not be returning and was highly disappointed.
Good food although the menu doesn't really blend well together - sushi, mac and cheese, sliders all very lovely but a random mix!
Great value for money but I felt the service was rushed. On a Saturday night we have ordered and had all our food out to the table within half an hour. Not very long to enjoy the acts unless you took your time with drinks etc like we did.
I booked a table for a small group for my friends hen party. At first the table seemed good however when the entertainment came on we quickly realised we were in the worst possible position to see the entertainment on the catwalk. I specifically asked for the best possible table when making my reservation as it was for a special occasion. We did complain and they took the entrainment fee off our bill but it was still very disappointing as we couldn't move tables.
Food was fantastic - definitely go for 'all the fun of the fair' dessert. Really enjoyed having lots of small plates rather than just one main - although this is an option too, the tuna tartar is to die for. Beautiful surroundings and there is nothing quite like it in Manchester. Service was good and I would definitely visit again.
Menagerie is a lovely place. However some things let us down.. something feltmissing or wrong all the time: no spinach, sweet potato chips instead of normal, things missing off the dessert. One of us ordered the king prawns off the small plates menu, baring in mind they are £17 he was expecting a lot however it came and it was 3 half prawns that they'd sliced.. wasn't worth the money at all. Someone had a steak and lamb and they were amazing. It is a lovely place, the show isn't much to shout about though which you have to pay towards and it just seems a little pricey for what it is
Was recommended by a friend. Great service, fun interior, excellent range of drinks, but not the ideal place for valentines lunch. Felt as though we were a spare part while they prepared for the evening. Food was below par given price (£75) for one course and a drink each. 10oz steak was poorly cooked and small. All in all underwhelmed for somewhere we had high hopes for.
Poor good offering
Service not very efficient
Rib eye steak ordered medium rare came well done was send back TWICE eventually gave me an iron str'eak as chef say "because of the way they prepare the steak they cannot cooked medium rare 😀 Really !!!!
Starter we're pretty poor early in the evening and already starters not available
Got a basic tomato and mozzarella that came stone cold strait out of the fridge blend no seasoning the other starter cannot even remember, chicken picatta was very pooor also thick and greasy
So over all food experience not good
The suppose to be show during the diner is also a joke 2 little dance and a rope show was so poor is unbelievable
Will not recommend to any one
The food was excellent however there was confusion over order. I'd spoken over the phone with someone 5 days before we arrived, they rang me, who took our order and I said it was my mum's birthday. When we arrived they had no knowledge of this and gave us menus. Don't know why the call was needed if we were to choose when we got there anyway. Also we had half the order and had to ask for the full savoury portion. No-one mentionwd happy birthday to my mum. In the end we had a lovely time but communication could be better to make the experience perfect.
We went for Sunday lunch, it was very quiet! We had to ask for the flowers to be changed on the table as they were 1/2 dead! Then one of my friends found a hair in her food, they apologised and replaced it with another, but no offer of compensation came to remove the cost of my friends meal from the total price , we should not have to ask !
