Menagerie Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very popular restraunt was full and busy. Staff seemed stressed with the capacity and this reflected our service. We waited over an hour for our food and had to ask 10 times for a drink before it actually arrived. I would not recommended to come here for a meal it’s To busy and loud. Majority of people there come for cocktails and drinks not the right atmosphere for a sit down meal. However would be perfect destination for cocktails. Decore is amazing it’s a lovely spot just Not ideal for a meal.
The service was substandard. Despite having booked a table it took longer than expected to be seated. We felt straight away like we had been forgotten about.
We were seated on small tables very close to the bar. There was not enough space between the tables or between the tables and the bar; my partner was constantly having people bumping into him as they passed behind his seat.
We were not given a drinks menu so when we received service for drinks I had to request a cocktail menu and we did not get served again for a further 20-25minutes. A server brought over our drinks and spilled some of my drink on the table, this was not acknowledged and I was left to wipe it up myself.
During our meal I had ordered 2 Pornstar Martinis, 1 of which had a full shot of Prosecco, the other less than half.
Dirty plates were left in front of us for prolonged periods of time, there was nowhere near enough staff present that evening to ensure good service.
I had paid a £30 deposit to hold the table a week before our booking, this was not deducted on the first bill we received. We finally attracted some attention to have the bill amended but this took another 15 minutes, making us late for an engagement elsewhere in the city centre.
The food was good but we only managed to have 2 courses in 1hr45min. If I hadn’t paid the deposit I would have walked out.
The lady serving us did apologise a couple of times for us having to wait and I appreciate that the night was busy but the service was unacceptable considering the price of the food.
I will definitely not be returning.
i Got told about this restaurant and how nice it was and the service was excellent so we booked as it was for valentines and had a terrible experience, we had a table booked for 9:15 and never sat down till 10pm we had paid for the set menu to find out when eventually got sat down they never had the food we wanted and also got told what we could only have 1 starter per couple when on the menu said one per guest, we never got the drinks on arrival we got giving a drink of the manager for not having the food we wanted but that doesn’t make up for it when you had to wait for 45 for your table! we then asked for the bill they hadn’t taking the deposit off and had the cheek to put £10 service charge on and charge £5 per person entry fee for a meal which is ridiculous!! And not once did anyone apologies for anything they was just trying to rush us as it was a Saturday night and was externally busy
When we arrived at the restaurant we where Told that we didn’t have a reservation (we booked our table over 4 weeks ago) apparently it had been canceld the day before! I had certainly not canceld our reservation, the staff had no answers to this! They offered us a table that luckily they had avaailable for only 1hour 20 minutes, When we booked our table over 4 weeks ago for my birthday online it says it was a valentines menu, and then menu looked amazing (the reason we booked) when we where shown to our table we where just given a normal menu. When I asked the waiter about the valentines menu, he knew nothing about it! The food was okay. Nothing special, would not be recommending to anyone! Over all a very disappointing experience, we had traveled for a lovely weekend in Manchester and our visit here was very very disappointing! I am not one to complain but just had to leave my feedback!
Our booking was scheduled for 8. We arrived and were patronising ly told that we were latecand that we were supposed to be there at 7. I said no, he cockily replied "yes" i then showed to them the booking confirmation in my emails clearly showing 8.
He soon changed his tune.
Later on, a large number of women were dancing on the catwalk with dribks resulting in one of them dropping it fromthe heigh, spilling all down my back and newly bough 145 pound shirt.
She drunkenly started touching me shouting down my ear, and then went back to laughing about it to her freinds.
She was not removed from the venue, or atleast removed from the catwalk,
Despite the fact that The same staff member who greeted us on arrival witnessed the incident and just gave me a napkin.
Many other restaurants would not put up with drunken behaviour causing discomfort to other guests.
Later on before leaving me partner tried to take a photo in the bath tub and pulled out a broken stem of a wine glass. Which was stood upright cover by the balls and could have been very serious.
Very tired now, cig burns on seat, looked like needed a good clean. Menu very unadventurous although basic chicken and chips very tasty and sweet was really lovely. Prosecco £33 a bottle bit steep. It was ok mainly for girls day/night out. Bit of a sparkle missing
Our booking was for 4 but the staff argued it was 3. Even after I produced confirmation emails they argued until eventually relenting and asking us to wait in the bar. Having travelled to Manchester for a girls night away to specifically to go Menagerie we were disappointed that there were no acts on the runway whilst we had dinner. I had visited 3 months ago and had a great time but it is clear that Menagerie have now become complacent and standards have slipped dramatically.
I went for the bottomless brunch and it was honestly amazing. You can choose two food choices, I had the pancakes and the Nutella French toast and they were both perfect and presented so nicely. The waiters and waitresses made sure we had a continuous flow of drinks and the service in general was really good. Was a bit quiet for a Saturday lunch time but the restaurant itself is beautiful anyway.
The live entertainment was good although could have been longer. The music was far too loud so you couldn’t have a really good catch up with you’re girlfriends. Could potentially turn it louder for the acts and then turn it down in between. However when we asked to see if they could turn it down we were told this is the concept - strange. Went on a Friday night and the clientele seemed really quite young - late teens. The ceiling decorations could have been grander to use the space more. Service was good and the food was good. I would recommend to friends for the entertainment purposes as this is different to other places in Manchester.
The waitress that served us was lovely warm and friendly. The food wasn’t. The starters we ok I had the Mac and cheese which was dry but my friend had the sliders which were lovely. We ordered 2 fillet steaks cooked medium and the lamb rump cooked pink. All over cooked which was really disappointing. I couldn’t be bothered making a fuss and sending it back so just ate it.
The entertainment was great and provides a fun environment but the music in between is so loud we were shouting to each other across the table throughout the meal and it felt exhausting. I loved the choice of music it was just the volume!! It would be ideal for a group of mates having drinks only. That being said I wouldn’t rush back. Style over substance
Great food. Ambiance was brilliant. Brilliant value as 40% off. Lovely service, arrived at 6.45 and left at 10.30. Had the Table the entire time, was not rushed at all (was worried we would be as per some of the reviews). The woman with the fire performance was amazing!!! Loved.
The only issue was when we got asked to leave as soon as the meal had finished had they had booked the table out this therefore meant we was only sat for 1hr 30mins which it did not state on booking, this was a disappointedment as we would have spend more time and money
Great experience and perfect for a birthday. Entertainment was good, but not as spectacular as expected. Service was good, but we sat down 20 mins late (7.50) and then were abruptly reminded at 9.30 that our time on the table was up (had not finished our drinks or desert). Our waitress was lovely but I think it was the manager who spoke to us about freeing up the table. I picked up some broken glass later on so as to avoid anyone standing on the lard shards and was again barked at by the same person...
Avoid if you like a good vegetarian option. Definitely avoid if you are a feminist (the weekend 'entertainment' was a selection of strippers) ... This is the place to be if you are in your 20s and think of yourself as a local celebrity. Unfortunately nobody will be looking at you as they will all be too busy taking selfies of themselves...
Unfortunately the average food and extremely loud music made this special meal not worth the journey, not even the staff could hear us.
We had a poor experience of an afternoon tea at Menagerie. We picked the traditional option, two of the three of us picked the champagne option. We had to ask for our champagne to be brought out and after we had finished we weren’t offered any tea. The sandwiches were well presented but the bread was really thick and partly stale, with not much filling. We weren’t told what was in them. The cakes were nicely presented on a spinning wheel but again we were not told what they were, did not look appetising and a few hadn’t set properly. They were very basic, I could have made better cakes. The scones were tasty but small and the jam hadn’t set either, it looked like a tinned strawberry in juice - nothing like jam. The ambiance is great and our waiter was lovely but obviously didn’t understand how afternoon tea worked. Overall it was quite a poor experience and for the price (£33 for champagne afternoon tea) I thought it was really unreasonable. There are much better places in Manchester to go for afternoon tea and I would not recommend this place at all, they really need to improve. Unfortunately I didn’t feel I could say anything at the time as it was my friends baby shower and I didn’t want to ruin the afternoon. I really hope Menagerie read this feedback and up their afternoon tea game as it’s a really nice place.
