The food at the bar was very good. On the particular day we went, essentially the entire menu was seafood. There was not a single meat based dish which was somewhat disappointing. My other main issue was that I finished the meal still being hungry which is frustrating after spending $1,800 dollars for 4 people. When I booked the reservation many months ago the website indicated that drink parings were included. In fact, that was not the case. Also, and maybe this is not fair, but we ate at Quintonil two days prior, and we could not help but compare the two experiences. All four diners agreed the food at Quintonil was more satisfying. That said, the food was still excellent. The service was top notch, and the atmosphere was wonderful.

We booked our international trip to Mexico City specifically to dine at Pujol. I'm not sure what I can say about this fabulous restaurant, the delicious foods, and professional staff that hasn't already been said by thousands before me. Ignore the negative reviews - this is a priceless experience. Did the omakase menu and everything from start to finish was fantastic. Service is friendly yet non invasive, the ambience is romantic in the evening with lighting that is perfect to create the best atmosphere you could ask for. The food is absolutely sublime. Staff uniforms are the most stylish I’ve seen around the world’s best restaurant. If you do go, Don’t go comparing it to street tacos, as this concept is different, has a different purpose, and it’s an re interpretation of Mexican food. If you know about food and are passionate about it, then go. Bravo team, keep it up, you truly make this one of the best restaurants in the world I have ever dined in.

Don't waste your time with the Taco Omasake. None of the signature Pujol dishes are included, like the 2 molés or the corn coated in mayo with ants, or any of the other dishes you see, read, and hear about when you research about a restaurant like Pujol. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing came close to "world's best" or even exceptionally memorable. There's not a single bite that I will remember, or talk about. Horribly overpriced for what I was served. I even asked about the molés, and the waiter acted like that wasn't even served at the restaurant anymore, only to see it served as part of the tasting menu to the rest of the restaurant. When researching about which menu to experience, most of what I could decipher from previous reviews was that the taco menu used to include ALL of Pujol's signature dishes, plus other dishes. Sadly, they changed this, and I was served one of the most disappointing meals of my life. Not even 10 courses, as originally advertised. No additional touches of churro as a surprise outside treat. Just a overrated meal in an overrated restaurant, with decent service, but definitely nothing exceptional, while being massively overpriced. We were served an additional dessert as part of our anniversary, and it was easily the best dessert, but I would've much rather had a taste of the molés. Don't waste your time with this place. If it was ever one of the world's best restaurants, it isn't that place anymore. Living purely on reputation, based on what I experienced and tasted. Amusingly, I was ready to tell this to anyone at the restaurant who asked, yet not a single person asked how/if we enjoyed our meal/experience at any point. Waste of time/money. Terrible way to end a week in Mexico city.

I had been to the Taco Bar at Pujol in 2017 and it was one of the best meals of my life, but this time (April 2023) it was just bad. The food was uninteresting and no longer consists of many tacos, and also does not include some of the nice additional touches that used to make it a special experience, like the mole course or an extra treat after the dessert course, though it seems like those may have been moved to the regular tasting menu at the expense of the taco bar experience. There is also no longer a drink pairing offered, even for an additional cost, which is unacceptable at a dining experience of this level. And on top of all that, the price has more than doubled since 2017; I know there has been some inflation but it went from a top-of-the-world experience at a bargain price to a mediocre experience at a pretty steep price.

I never write reviews but felt compelled to make an exception for Pujol Barra de Tacos. It felt like being held by the ankles upside down and shaken until all of our money fell out. We arrived at 9:10 for our 9:00 reservation and hoped to start our evening with a cocktail prior to enjoying the meal. Somewhere I’d read that the menu at the Barra was about $120 USD per person, but ours was listed as about $200 without drinks or gratuity. Understanding the effect of inflation on restaurants we proceeded unfazed with the difference in price. Unfortunately, things start to go downhill when our first course arrives before our cocktail. Not a great look. We express to our server that we are hoping to enjoy our cocktails and then enjoy wine pairings with the meal, which he agrees to. Despite this understanding, our next dish arrives prior to our wine being poured. 2/7 courses through our meal and our wine pairings haven’t even started. When our server finally pours our wine, we’re half way through course 2, and our “tastings” are just full 6 oz glasses of wine. We were also poured a riesling from the “kabinett estate”, which is not an estate at all but a designation of quality. Pretty rusty for the best restaurant in Mexico. While the food overall was often delicious (special shout out to dessert of figs and ice cream) the pacing was relentless, and our total wine pairings consisted of 2 full glasses that didn’t suit the food. We ordered carajillos to finish, and while we were enjoying our desserts a bill was presented unceremoniously. After gratuity our meal was about $700USD - a large chunk of this bill being the two glasses of misidentified riesling at a mind blowing $70USD a glass. A furious clean down of the bar area happens while we are still enjoying our carajillos, which we feel is our cue to leave. The dining room is still at least half full of happy diners, and I feel like I have just received a masterclass in how to hustle tourists. 0 stars.

I was recommended this spot by well over 5 people. We got a reservation at the bar for Omakase, and I know this is an unpopular opinion but someone needs to hear this…it was overrated and definitely not worth the $500+ dollars we paid. Maybe we just got a bad menu? It seems they switch it up often, so maybe they were having an off night. We did enjoy the cocktails, but none of the dishes were noteworthy, and some were just wholly off putting. We made some friends at the bar who were really nice, and they were rather underwhelmed as well. I had much higher expectations since it’s one of the top 5 restaurants in the world, but honestly, we found a taco spot the following night and our entire meal cost $35 total and we enjoyed it far more. I’m not trying to rain on Bar Pujol’s parade, and our server was great, but I feel like I need to put this out there because this place is *so* hyped up but there are so many other restaurants out there in Mexico City who are just as worthy of your patronage, and who will be far less expensive, and dare I say, more enjoyable and more delicious. So if you can’t get a reservation, or if you can’t afford it, don’t feel bad!

Perfect dinner. Lives up to the hype. Our server, Christian, was amazing pairing wines and cocktails with our courses. Lobster tacos was the best thing we've ever tasted. Not to be missed.

The restaurant is beautiful, the service is impeccable. I had the taco bar menu; they were very mindful of my food allergies. It was an 8 course menu, for me the best plate was the final dessert. Overall, I thought the food was OK, but not incredible - overrated and overpriced.

We had the chef's choice Taco Bar at lunchtime. It was the only way we were able to get into Pujol without planning in advance. It was VERY expensive and not outstanding at all. Service was not great--we sat for almost a half hour before they took a drink order and then served wine to taste with the very acidic aquachile first course which made tasting wine impossible.

This was a highlight of my trip. Since I was solo I got a last minute reservation. And the food was spectacular- every dish amazing. But the best part was the setting. At the bar I got to meet people from all over. The service was incredible, our guy Rodrigo made it fun. And we stayed for four hours. I might do that in the future again compared to the main tasting. Loved.

También me gustó la forma en que lo llevan afuera para el postre para que pueda experimentar tanto el ambiente interior como el exterior. Hemos vivido en la Ciudad de México durante más de un año antes de que finalmente la visitáramos. Creo que si vas a visitar la CDMX por un período breve, deberías considerar si quieres hacer de esta una de tus paradas o no. Esto no es México. Todos los clientes que escuchamos hablaban inglés y parecían ser de EE. UU. A pesar de que hablamos español (mi esposo habla español en el trabajo todo el día), el personal nos disuadió de hablar español. (Aprecio que tuvieran menús en papel reales, no códigos QR, y estaban disponibles, soy español). Hay muchos lugares de lujo en Polanco llenos de mexicanos ricos, pero no están aquí. Se siente como el circuito Epcot Center de la Ciudad de México (junto con elegantes bares de cócteles, Quintonil, todos en Condesa). No estás interactuando con México aquí, es como un parque temático mexicano. Y los precios son muy altos. Uno de los placeres de ser estadounidense aquí es comer bien pero relativamente barato. Hay tantos restaurantes muy buenos y bastante lujosos alrededor de la CDMX donde puedes vivir a lo grande y gastar 1/5 de la cantidad.

Excelente experiencia la degustación de 9 platillos. Los meseros brindan excelente servicio y te explican y contestan todas tus dudas. Las bebidas son locales y todas son de muy buena calidad. La carta de vinos es de precios muy elevados. Vale la pena la visita a Pujol.

We have done a full experience here and loved it. But this time we took a last minute availability and it was the bar taco experience, and the tacos were good but definitely not worth a $600 bill, not at all whatsoever!! I don’t recommend the taco experience, it’s just not worth it, wait for the full experience.

Every bite was delicious. Did the Taco bar tasting. Loved the low bar - ready comfortable to sink in and enjoy the simple (not simple) creations. Service was impeccable. Based on research, I was expecting a drink tasting (wine or mezcal) to be included. That is no longer the case. While there is not a programmed drink pairing, they curated a series of wines by the glass as we want along. We focused on Mexican white and orange wines - lovely and perfect with the food. Had one Mexican red, and then quickly switched to an Italian red with dessert. The cost was more on par with typical post-pandemic California multi-course fine dining ($175 pp before drinks/tip). But, the difference was that we felt we had experienced something unique and elevated on an international stage. Exceeded our French Laundry experience. Quintonil from 4 years ago still in the running for best dining experience. But, Pujol is dialed into something special - you can feel the love that goes into everything. Thank you Pujol and CDMX.

Sadly, the only memorable aspect was the price. It is a nice place and nice food and great service, but the portion sizes are small, and our water, water, for $42 for two people. This is an elegant factory printing money for the owners and catering to sycophants. What a paradox to read so many fine paenes to Pujol. Was I in the wrong place?

We had the Tacos Menu. Food was mostly delicious and the cocktails were very yummy too. Our server Christian was outstanding. But after visiting various restaurants I think it’s not worth the price. Mexico is full of excellent restaurants do your research!
