We go to Nakato twice a year - for our birthdays. The food, service, and ambiance are always really good. I lived in Kyoto for 4 years, and I know good quality Japanese food. So Nakato is our go-to for special occasion Japanese food!

We had dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday and completion of my son's 3rd school year. Basically, it was perfection from every point of view and I can't come up with any suggestion for improvement. It's an excellent place for a casual occasion, too.

We had just returned from Japan and wanted to know if really authentic Japanese cuisine was available in Atlanta. It is! While hibachi is entertaining, the real treat is in the regular dining room. The dishes there are every bit as good as what we had experienced in Japan. Combined with first-rate service, Nakato dining is an experience not to be missed.

There is simply no better, authentic Japanese in Atlanta. They have employed the best sushi chefs with nothing but the highest quality ingredients, and their service is always professional, consistent, and sincerely welcoming. We have dined at Nakato for more than 40 years now and they somehow manage to just get better and better! Family faves- don't miss the Shokado Bento Box, Sea Bass, or Traditional Sukiyaki!

This was some of the best sushi I have had in a very long time, and for sure the best UNI I have ever had. At 50$ for two pieces of nigiri, I’m glad it was. Most of the things I had were flown straight from Hokkaido and/or the Tsukiji fish market in Japan. A memorable meal is an understatement. It was a splurge for sure with as much (and what) I ordered, but I will definitely go back when in Atlanta. Service, ambiance and food was all top notch. Very, very impressed.

Definitely a Tokyo style sushi experience. This is as good if not better than sushi I've had in Japan. Authentic and Legitimate! High quality fish well prepared with amazing flavor. They have a nice selection of Japanese Whiskeys including Yamazaki 12 & 18, Coffee Grain, Hibiki Harmony, and a couple Nikka options.

3rd time here and never disappointed about service and food. Ambiance is very louder but it’s ok! Justin for the 3rd time in a row was my service and he’s very friendly. Today my only concern was the shrimp tempura because we just received 2 pieces and I know that was incorrect.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all astounding. The only reason I rated the restaurant a 4 instead of a 5, was because of the noise level. It was extremely noisy, and we’re accustomed to Japanese restaurants being more low-key and relaxing. I still highly recommend the place. The “Ankimo Ponzu” and the “Illuminati” were our favorites.

Nakato is the finest Japanese restaurant in Atlanta - the sushi is flown in from Japan every two to three days and is IMPECCABLE! The regular menu is spectacular, the hibachi is top notch! Ask to see the traditional Japanese meal rooms - this place is incredibly so well run and worth visiting weekly!

Took my teen sons for dinner, had sushi and hibachi in the restaurant area. Service was okay, food was a little slow and while we order from both menus I don’t think the value aligns with prices. This sounds like a complaint it’s really not. I’ve had Japanese food at other restaurants as good if not better at prices that were more reasonable. Parking; it’s a nightmare. I recommend this restaurant, will more than likely return at some point but will level set expectations next time.

My husband loves Sukiyaki and we always come to Nakato but last night instead of the Sukiyaki sauce they brought Ponzu sauce and it messed up the flavor of everything. The waitress brought the right sauce but by that time he lost his appetite.

Outstanding service and food. One of the best sushi restaurants we have been to in years. Our server was wonderful, food - fresh and delicious, menu - imaginative and extensive. Top notch.

It was just ok. Did not feel like anything super special. The pricing suggest otherwise. My date and I ate in the main dining room (not at a hibachi table) and ordered a variety of items across the menu from appetizers, sushi and entrees. I kept waiting for that one special thing. Meh…. I can check this off the list. No need to return.

You guys need more sushi servers. I have to wait more than 10min for find my server. And she(little bit tall Japanese woman) took a dish even I didn't eat at all. Remove dish Without excuse. But sushi was great. Last time you serve me a fish scale with sushi. But this time there's no scale.
